Title: Resurrect CNC?
Post by: bnogal on May 27, 2013, 08:10:08 PM
Well, someone knows if there is a Dev taking care of CNC?
Nobody will try to resurrect it as they tried with FTC?

I have around 40 coins left, so i don't really feel like doing it, but we could do a bounty in CNC for it.

Maybe a dev with time would like to join... and in the worst case i could try to find time.

And in the worst worst case, the bounty will be worth zero anyway.

What do you think, keeping creating dust coins, or resurrect the pump and dump ones.

I know there are a couple of people keeping 10.000> coins (even 100.000) so i would support this idea with 1 coin and this post. And if there are not devs... maybe my time.

In the other hand, what do you think could bring future to this coin?

This is probably not going to happen, there are so many crypto currencies now that unless there is something incredibly special about a particular coin then it will die without an active developer, of which CNC has none. FTC believe it or not still has an active developer (bushstar) as well as it's own active community, so it's not going anywhere for now.

"pump & dump", it's over, now, litecoin-CNC skeleton still there.

Client with checkpoints can be found here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=192243.msg2269010#msg2269010

But the only way it's mine it,..., "only" 41 diff,..., 2443 blocks to retarget.
Old style coins does not support "miners attack"....

keep it - maybe there will be virtual coin museum in the future and you could put yours into "pump + dump shortlife coins" section

If a group with twice the has power uses an updated client then forces a fork, it may work, i know how to do it, i've already done it for two coins so far (results in two days). The main advantage to reviving this coin is that it is traded on the big exchanges already, i could change the retarget algo and push the update, but are people interested? and what is this "reward" you speak of?

I liked this coin too... my second coin after BBQ.... too bad it fucked itself. If it got fixed I might think about mining it... only because its on an exchange.

I could understand wanting to revive a coin, but I would not support reviving this coin, because it appears to be just a dishonest attempt at a pump and dump.

Amazingly, there are still people CUTTING IN LINE at exchanges to buy this coin.  It has a value higher than WDC or DGC which both have active developer communities

Who are the fools buying this ???

But it has such great innovative features like a Readme in Chinese. Groundbreaking.

As long as you can keep making money daytrading, why not?

It also has the second highest value amongst the new coins (BTB doesn't count).

Will be interesting to see what the retarget time is now. At this rate it may end up stuck on the exchanges only.

Well, i was thinking in the way just to laught a bit about the ones did the pump and dump. Imagine we can do something proper after it :P And it has the advance is in the exchanges already.

But well, being more than a million coins moving around btc-e and none of the bag holders worrying about helping to improve the support, maybe it is true it deserves to die.
