I have not read about this option yet, although it will be interesting if it actually happens. I know that Greece was considering the idea of selling off some of their small Mediterranean islands to help pay off their debts during the last financial crisis, but I don't know if they would accept bitcoin as payment.

If you have a very large bitcoin, I'm sure you can get island. If the government does not accept bitcoin in payments but you can still buy the island with fiat money by selling the bitcoin you have. If you do not have a large amount of bitcoin, it means to have your own island is just a fantasy for you.

Last time I checked, private islands go for as low as $250,000. If you think about it, that really isn't so much. Are you going to get an amazing location and a cleared out island with a place to live and electricity, etc.? Nope. But you do get an island, at the very least.

Not all governments because some governments have different thoughts about Bitcoin,some of them are banning Bitcoin but majority are embracing it I'm hoping that one day we will wake up Bitcoin is widely adopted hopefully 90%.

Who told that noone is banning , recently china have taken steps to regulate bitcoin and banned ICOS investing. Even in arab country bitcoin is illegal to use it.

There's a possibility you'll be able to purchase an island. However I'll don't think many places would accept Bitcoin as payment just yet. Just be sure to do your research.

You can have an island but you cant buy it through bitcoin payment. You will have to withdraw it with cash or pay thru a bank. It is sad but that is how the world goes up until now. You will have to wait for the world to change.

Of course, but we cannot deny the fact that there were government who does not accept bitcoin for any form of payment, but with bitcoin you can buy anything you want even an island  :D, if you gonna choose to buy directly to bitcoin then look for some country that supported the government, like Europe, America and some more so you can pay directly but you can have it by redirecting buying, by converting it to fait.

Of course you can. If the Government does not receive payment with Bitcoin, you only need to convert Bitcoin into your country's local currency. Incredible if we buy an island with Bitcoin. It may take thousands of Bitcoins.

I'm very sure you can buy an island if you have more than enough bitcoin, and i think the government would accept your bitcoin. If you're planning to buy an island for a good cause that would be great!

Bitcoin just like other currencies can buy anything but you just have to meet the price equivalent of the island in bitcoins so that they can accept and approve your ownership. I don't think because you have bitcoins you're ever going to be denied buying a property or an island.

If you are going to pay with Bitcoin then the government won't accept it, buying island is a big transactions, so it requires all the legal procedure and documents, and with Bitcoin it can't be consider as legal transaction, you will need to convert it to Fiat before you able to buy the island

I think if the bitcoin we have changed with the currency is not masalaj if we will buy an island. Do not buy with bitcoin currency, there must be a ban and taxable. But if we exchange it first with the currency in that country I feel safe safe.

I am not that sure but I think there are some countries that there government accepts bitxoin.
But in our country you need to convert it first because our government is not accepting bitcoin yet but hoping that they accept in the near future.

Brother, I'd take an island with half the acreage of the one shown here.  Islands
are even better than bunkers in case SHTF, which it no doubt will.  I'm stocking up on

If 21 million people in the world want to have a whole bitcoin, then we're gonna be looking at sky high pricing. Who knows have much a bitcoin will be in the future, or what things you can buy with bitcoin. If it truly does get massly adopted internationally, then you may just get your island :)

I think that could be possible, yes. But for you to buy an island with bitcoins, first somethings needs to be possible. There should be a government which possess island, and accept bitcoin as way of paying. Second you need to have enough bitcoins. If that requirements at meet, it should be no problem for a person to buy an island. I must say that, that would be a thing to see or read about. :D

You should carefully read the ad. They aren't selling the whole island, but a large part of it. Somebody owns land there and is selling it, just like they would sell land on the mainland. About half of the island belongs to someone else, and we can see that it's used for agriculture.
It's still a beautiful region. If I had enough money I'd buy it and build a watchtower in the middle of it and rent out rooms with a 360 degree view of the island :D

There is no government that accepts bitcoins.
And frankly speaking there is no government that sells an island as it's not the government doing financial transactions but the financial entity of that country. Separation of powers, only a few countries are still communist dictatorships.

Besides, they will never take bitcoin even if they would make it legal tender.
For example you can by a car in Poland or Bulgaria with euros but you will never be able to pay your taxes with euros.
By law all transactions done by the authorities must be done in the national currency, they will never accept a foreign one.
Even if it is pegged to a foreign one, like the Bulgarian leva to the euro.

Yes if you have a lot of bitcoin maybe you will buy or get and island but for me i dont want to buy island i want to buy big house ,car and and i want to help all people and i want to help my family if i'll became rich like others becuase of bitcoin.

Having your own island needs a huge amount of bitcoin. which means its not a joke amount to have an island as your assets.  And for most of the time Island most often sell by the officials of the government if I am not mistaken.

1. you need to have enough bitcoins. Even the small island costs a fortune. And it's not guaranteed that you can build anything on it.
2. if you have enough bitcoins, you need to figure out what is the best way to convert them to eur/usd. It's not a problem to sell 1 btc but to sell 5000 is a different story. Plus you have to count on the fees and taxes you need to pay.
3. this i never really knew how it goes, but my guess is that with such amount of btc you would need some kind of proof where you got them.
4. There are costs of maintaining the island. Taxes and whatnot.

Greece is interesting since it's really nice country and with financial turmoil in the past few years there are a lot of islands on the market since they changed taxing policy and it's quite expensive to own one so many owners decided to sell.

I dont know if they will accept BTC but they will surely accept money, Just get them exchanged for the currency in the country you are buying and you are good to go.

I think government is not accepting bitcoin as a payment if you want to buy an island because they don't recognize bitcoin as a legal currency and it depends on the country if they have a law about banning bitcoins but if you have a lot of bitcoin you can exchange in to real money then go buy the island that you want.

OP really has that kind of resources to buy himself an island? great for him, well apparently I think you can surely buy your own island by exchanging your bitcoin with fiat money, but how would you buy an island using bitcoin directly, well In my opinion I think what you would need to find is a person that owns one, and accepting bitcoin as a payment, there is no need to inform the government that you will buy one, or if that island is possessed by a group of people then you need to pursue in buying it to all of that people, because the needed part of buying a land is the title of that certain land.

lately there is an island offered to me for  $215K with an unexplored cave that means worth at least 50.8 BTC which get me really hyped but I don't think they will accept bitcoin worth $215k as a payment specially since its a rural area and processing titles and fees are more likely through cash.

If Roger Ver can get a St Kitts Nevis passport using Bitcoins, then I think that it might be possible for you to purchase an island with the same payment medium. You need to inquire with the real estate agents. Since the amount is very large, many of them will be willing to add Bitcoins as the payment option.

The idea of buying an island is much more interesting than the idea to use bitcoin when paying bills in a cafe / shop / taxi. And even if bitcoin is not accepted for a specific desired island, you can sell it. Especially if you bought bitcoin for a long time, and now it has grown so much that it allows you to make such significant purchases. :)

You don't have to buy the island from the government. And after all Bitcoin is readily exchangeable for fiat. So a person who holds bitcoins should have no problems in realizing its value.

You can buy anything with Bitcoins, you just need to find someone accepting it as payment... An island isn't the limit, you can buy enough lands to build your own kingdom if you have enough money and a open minded seller. I would just negotiate it very well, as Bitcoin worth a lot on long term I wouldn't offer a big amount of Bitcoins for the island, I would try buying cheaper as possible with the promise the currency will price a lot in some years.  ;D

I believe that you've read some news about rich people have their own island so if you have enough money I think can buy 1 or maybe 2 islands for yourself.
