Title: Three s7 vs one s9
Post by: m4rv3 on September 16, 2017, 03:21:45 PM
Hey all,

I have been mining for some time now with two antminer s7s and one antminer s5,  hashrate totalling at a little over 10Th/s. With that hashrate I am able to generate approximately $100(0.025btc) per week given the price of 1 btc remains over $4000.

Not forgetting to mention that I am not paying any money for electricity due to the location of these miners.

I am interested in upscaling my mining operation with a start up capital of $5000.

What equipment would you recommend?

I have been thinking of continuing with antminer s7's due to the availability of them and their low cost.  I belive that about three s7's will give you the hashrate of one s9 however the power consumption is triple,  however,  power consumption isn't a worry for now.  Secondly one antminer s9 is currently being sold in the range of 2500$ -  3500$, where as one s7 would be about $700.

Let me know your thoughts on this.

Thanks

Well, if electricity isn't a concern for you, go for the most cost effective hash rate in terms of HS/price, that way you'll be able to scale more and have more profits. s7 seems like a good deal in this case.

The s7 is still profitable based on how much you pay for electricity

Yes this is exactly what I'm thinking hash/price,  the S7 wins hands down.

Wish I could find good s7 miners for under 600 tho.

I would consider an avalon 6 used

https://minerwarez.com/collections/used-equipment/products/avalon-6-miner

or an s-7 used

https://minerwarez.com/collections/used-equipment/products/bitmain-s7-miner

They are the USA distributor for Canaan.io

Go to the canaan.io website to see what I mean.

And you can pay with paypal. I grabbed an Avalon 741 before they sold out.

I paid with paypal

Forgot Canaan.io builds the Avalon gear

Just buy antminer d3 and sell the hashing power to the nicehash, it would give you a nitcoins and its much more then just to mine a bitcoin, also d3 has a much better roi!

your advice could back fire  big time.

it may not roi faster then a s-7 using free power

D3 at this point is a BAD option - profitability is going to be very poor by the time the CURRENT batch actually ships and ROI is almost definitely going to be quite a bit worse than the S9 would be by then.

I'd go with the S7 or Avalon units, depending on HOW MUCH free power is available.

Figured that much.

I am also saving up to invest in a solar array as a backup (or second location) for my miners.

I too believe that Antminers S7/S9 or Avalon miners are the way to go for now.
