Title: My first GPU miner got overclocked !
Post by: zoufou on September 16, 2017, 08:42:23 PM
Hey all,

I finally managed to overclock/undervolt my 6 GPUs, i'm getting a 170 MH/s @1000Watts with the following configs:

  • 2x PowerColor RED DEVIL Radeon RX 570 4G: Mem clock @2000, Power maxed to 100Watts, the card delivers ~27Mh/s
  • 1x XFX RS XXX Edition Radeon RX 570 4G: Mem clock @2000, Power maxed to 100Watts, the card delivers ~28Mh/s
  • 1x Sapphire Radeon NITRO+ RX 580 4GB: Mem clock @2100, Power maxed to 100Watts, the card delivers ~29Mh/s
  • 1x GIGABYTE AORUS Radeon RX 580 4G: Mem clock @2100, Power maxed to 100Watts, the card delivers ~29Mh/s
  • 1x MSI Radeon RX 580 DirectX 12 RX 580 4G: Mem clock @2100, Power maxed to 100Watts, the card delivers ~30Mh/s

Do you think i can do better at overclocking these cards ? am not sure how i can bring down power usage lower than 1k Watts ...

What straps are you using for the MSI card. Also what memory it's it?

How can each card pull 100 watts ("maxed to 100 watts") and your system 1000? Do you have a 400 watt CPU?

I don't have the info right now, but it's not a samsung one.

Modded the bios with 2000, and set ethos "mem 2100"

Yes, seems weird, my meter reports 1000W when the rig is mining, and ~90W when GPUs are stopped.

And through ethos's /opt/ethos/sbin/ethos-readdata watts command:
Quote
104.19 96.25 97.17 94.12 95.24 101.16

That means my 6 GPUs eat ~600Watts ...

My 7 gpu saphire Rx 580 draws 780 watts at the wall (entire rig) so even tho the red devil's demand more power I think you could bring that rig down by alot. Also they hash 29.5 m/h each on ethash so to give you a basis to go by. All bios modded just with straps and using claymore for overclock/undervolt.

Can you please share your undervolt parameters ?

I see. Maybe that is comparable to the windows world's "GPU-only power draw", where all the memory consumption, board and VRM losses are to be added on top. That would make sense, since it's a good 40-50 watts per card on top.
