What do you do with ETH ? You buy to hold or to invest in alt coins ?

Investors usually buy altcoins with Bitcoin, not Ethereum. If you mean ICOs, Whenever I want to invest in an ICO which I am supposed to receive an Ethereum based token, I buy Ethereum to invest in that. I also hold some Ethereums as a long term investment.

Is there going to be a ethereum hard fork soon?

Yes, at the end of the month and everything seems to be on track. They even updated geth couple of days back to be compatible with the hard fork.

The purpose of Ethereum is to serve as a base currency for all of the token out there.

It really is a genius concept when you think more about it. Not only do all the individual investors and users want it to succeed, but all of the companies who use it for tokens for their business also. that is what makes it so amazing, how it is so valuable to so many people helps it to never fail.

Personally I only have a few eth to hold for the future and then I purchase more if i ever want to invest in any ICOs. I do all my trading btc-altcoins.

ETH is a very special coin, I bought bitcoin and I bought ETH to hold on for some time until the price went up, and I also bought some coin in altcoin to trade and for my daily activities to gain the advantage of my passion.

I usually do not trade with ETH and I will keep ETH for a few years as ETH is a potential market and certainly in the future many new technologies in this platform will emerge, if that's sure to happen will be very high prices.

Ethereum is a good coin and it definitely has a great technology but people are out there who think it is just used as a base currency for creating tokens. Ethereum can be used as a source for creating a new coin but it has better purposes.
I use it for trading time to time and knowing that the upcoming fork is going to benefit Ethereum holders will be a good deal to start converting our money to ETH to receive an extra bonus.

Both, i buy ETH to hold and invest in ICO.

I would advice to invest your eth into some new projects rather than hold it. Buying eth now would be the riskiest option of all, for some changes are ought to be performed on this platform for it to work properly in the future. I believe there's a risk of hard fork and thus it is best to sell your eth now and buy it again some other time if everything goes okay and eth becomes a pos coin. Maybe, trying to invest in some good ICO is a nice option nowadays. Just try to make sure it is not a scam and it has good PR-campaign.

If  long term invest i will hold bitcoin.  But if invest the ico i suggest use eth will easy and fast. Something ico just receive eth in erc20 token.

I hodl the majority of my ETH! A small portion in altcoins and contributions to a limited number of ICO's.

No point throwing too much of it away. The real thing to do with ETH is stake it! (with PoS around the corner)

i buy ETH to dump it when it is pumped! there is no other reason for it :D

so far i have been doing just that, there have been a couple of very good pumps which i join 3 of them from the start and more of them in the middle of the pump and got out my profit after the pump was done and before the dumping began.

of course you can also use ETH to invest in ICOs but i am not a fan of that kind of investment so i have never done it. i prefer the normal way of making profit.

Holding is best option out there,it is second best volume currency and has good blockchain to support its network.now majority of startup company are taking ico route and choosing eth blockchain for its investment source.the price will pump good in nearby future.

Mostly, i like to hold by ethereum as i believe that ethereum can show good amount of growth in future. I believe that ethereum will cross the 600$ mark by end of this year.
Sometimes I like to invest in some projects that appear promising to me.

better to look at it as a good investment to hold together with btc as its been use to buy token for another coins that will be using this platform,
its also a good investment to be hold as well, the value will go up to 1k$ sooner as many plan project will be implemented and as mention many
new project will use smart contracts.

Usually like most people I will hold bitcoin and invest in some Ethereum ofcourse when I need to buy some ERC tokens or tokens based on Ethereum network, that is ofcourse because I cant do it with bitcoin, for long term I dont hold Ethereum but stick mainly to bitcoin, I think most of the people do that just because bitcoin is accepted on every exchange and is THE dollar of digital money, on long term though I think Ethereum will be more user friendly and better system, they have great things coming at the end of this month too.

I prefer to do both of them. Ethereum has future, nearby the bitcoin, i hold just a few altcoins for long term.
Ethereum is the first choice for me in altcoins.
On the other hand, it mostly useful to invest in ICOs.

Usually people buy ethereum is for investing on another altcoin nor new coins with participate on their ICOs that accept ethereum as payment. By participate on ICOs, people earn profit easily and don't need to wait till ethereum price rise up.

ETH looks promising coin for future so I simply invest in it and hold it for a long term instead of investing in any other altcoins as ETH has a great potential to give me best profits in future so I believe in holding it for a long term.

I can't hold eth or btc always i invest some icos and altcoins:D But nowadays if i had money i hold my eth but its too low and i invest all ico i want

I have it at the back of mind that with time ethereum market value will increase and that is why I invested 10 percent of my investment capital in ethereum.

If you are looking for a fast incoming, and if you have the time to investigate, also know of the option that you may risk and loose then focus on investing in ICOs.. for a more secure option, do both, don't have all your money in one basket.

I do both. I buy eth when i want to invest in promising coins that i see great potential. I also buy to hold eth because why not? Eth is pretty promising. Not that i want to say that people who don't hold eth are dumb but I just think that holding eth is a pretty smart thing to do due to what's happening today with the prices(investor instincts tingling). But then again, this is just me and my opinion.

I do 2 things with my ETH: (1) HODL; and (2) Invest it in promising ICOs. I use BTC to invest in alt coins that are traded on exchanges.

I buy to hodl most (80%) of it. I do buy some to use for other alts.

Holding eth is so hard with all icos going on  ;D

Usually I'm buying altcoins with Ethereum. Why not bitcoin? Because bitcoin have large commissions!

I look at ETH from a long term perspective. I had a chance to buy ETH when the price was standing at $10 only. I regret that I didn't buy any of it. I would have bought a big car with the return. But however, I have recently started investing in ETH and thinking of holding it for long term. ETH is technologically superior that bitcoin and looks like a great investment asset to me.

I have also started taking parts in various bounty campaign to earn token and then I sell those token to get more ETH. That's kind of a free money to me. So for me, it is definitely a Long term HOLD. 

Of course, I buy and hold ETH to invest. Because I think ETH is very promising. after the price rose to BTC0.14 a few months ago and now we see the price is still around BTC0.07 it is very cheap for me.

I keep it, eth now has become a very potential and profitable coin, it has become a serious competitor for bitcoin, slowly a lot prople also investing in eth and with a lot of people invested it, eth will grow stronger and the price will become more expensive,  it is a good coin for a long term investment

I buy et aims to hold myself even though the current is down, I will wait until it gets up again to transact.

It so depends on how many you have.. If you have a lot, you can do both.. If not.. buying new coins is more exciting. When you look at different projects, make some research and can find smth you believe in and support, it's just a fun part of this industry. Simple trading sometimes could be just boring.

I prefer to hodl some ETH and then use some to purchase tokens offered in ICOs. That would not be too hard to do right? But if you are only holding a couple of ETH then perhaps you have to choose between ETH which is going to be rising very soon or a promising ICO.

I prefer to buy Eth and then hold it, I do not use Eth to invest in altscoin and I prefer to use BTC. I'm sure here many people are doing the same thing with me.

I myself think the ETH might be famous like bitcoin, it would not hurt to buy ETH and invest it! who knows what will happen with ETH, I use eth to invest, hopefully for the long term ..

I agree with you dude , Ethereum is good for long term investment , I think Ethereum is one of promising Altcoin for the future.

ETH is being pumped by many companies. So holding them is a good idea in my opinion.

I usually use Ethereum to buy alt coins. It is the easiest way to invest in alt coins but holding is not a bad idea too. Because Eth is a great tech that will always be popular due to it's unlimited way of uses. There for it will keep gaining value and can make holders reach one day.

Im going to hold the ETH .  Investing in ethereum is also good and right timing to exchange it into bitcoin can make you earn more profit that the expected amount. I think i will convert my ETH into bitcoin so i can earn profit .

I rather circulate my ETH into various ICO as they are far more profitable short term if the project was hyped or promising.

I invest in altcoins and hodling ETH. Holding eth will gives us to earn more profit. Even the price right now is not that high eventually it will high soon.

Whether it is ethereum or bitcoin, i always divide those two depending on my wants or main goal. My main goal is to build a solid long term investment with ethereum and bitcoin so i put mostly 80% if my coins in a secure wallet and the rest is putted into investment in altcoins in the market or investing in ico for a fast profit.

First, I hold in my wallet then I invest in Legit ICO. Invest in Ico should have good analysis if not the token will be worthless after ICo. If we are lucky the coin will price 100 to 300 % after ICO. That's I made profit and I will sell the coin again to eth then hold and invest again.

What people need to understand imo is that smart contract based tokens like on Ethereum are not going to increase in value if they are not used sensibly in an ecosystem. (Only according to demand/supply, what is almost dumb to apply for tokens)

To answer the question: Holding makes sense to a certain point. If now the majority of people is only holding. The market will crash when media publicises that fact. Consider investing in tokens you have influence on, i.e. generating your own within the eco system.

Both! I believe in ETH and I also believe in new ICO's that are using ETH token.

Just like the other coins I have, I buy them to hold. Because usually if I invest in other coins I usually buy them using bitcoin rather than using Ethereum to buy altcoins. And it is much easier to buy using bitcoins too.

I personnally hold ETH and rather use BTC to invest in alt coins. ETH is getting pumped so I think it is more interesting to hold it.

ETH for me is for investment (long-term investment) as well as a base coin to use when participating in good ICOs (mostly ERC-20 tokens over the Ethereum blockchain) but definitely after doing my own due diligence

I invested in ethereum, to buy and hold my altcoin more using bitcoin, in the future if ethereum could be parallel with bitcoin I would use for investment and hold altcoin. and I am very sure ethereum will develop  :-*

I buy ETH for invest and hold, when I saw a very nice ICO I would definitely put my ETH in there, and most I will hold for higher prices.
 
 

I use ETH for both. I hold some for longterm and if i change my USD to crypto i am choosing ETH because it is faster and cheaper.

I usually buy and hodl ETH rather than investing in altcoins. I believe that ETH has potential next to Bitcoin because most of new tokens are derived from ETH platform and is also has different and one of a kind technology. ETH has proven it's stability and importance in the cryptocurrency community and market. I used BTC in investing altcoins like ETH, LTC and DOGE because of it's higher price. It is better to hodl ETH now because the price is in dip.

I think ETH is to invest in ICO, but if in my opinion is too time consuming. Suppose using normal way to get to the profit, although it is a little to infest in some projects that promise

I've been buying Eth for trading purposes on the exchange and there's a bit of Eth savings in the online wallet as a long-term investment. because investing in Eth is certainly very good to be able to earn profits according to the investment plan.

I just hold my Ethereum coins, because I think its a good investment. I dont use them to play ICOs, the most time I invest with my Bitcoins. And I use Ethereum for ERC 20 token staking stuff like PoSToken! I am not going to sell my ETH bag in the next couple of month!

I do both. I have invested a decent amount in ETH for long term and I never touch it and keep it secure in a separate wallet. For trading altcoins and buying ICO coins, I buy seperate amount of ETH at the latest price and just invest. I keep seperate wallets for both the things.

good strategy instead of mixing everything better we can separate our long term coins, and we can save it in the safe wallet. To do trading, we can separate coins here there is no assurance that our coins will be safe or not because it depends on what coins we will buy. I saved ETH but not do trading with this coin I will use BTC.

Mostly trade with it myself, not a good time to hold eth with the upcoming fork. Or maybe it actually is.. ;)

10% of my total investment in crypto currency went for ethereum coin which is kept till when the market value of ethereum increase before I will sell. Although, any time I want to invest in any ICO I use to convert my bitcoin to ethereum for that purpose.

I do both some I keep for holding in exchanges once o get profit will sell some I keep in my wallet where I am holding private key and will invest in ICO.

To me right now, i just hold my ETH i have on an exchanger site and sometimes i buying it and holding it until the price will increases next time and then i selling it to BTC again. In addition, sometimes i also buy ETH for depo in one gambling site for trying to increase its amount, but this is only occasionally.

I usually don't hol Eth. I prefer to convert some of it Btc and buy some promising alt coins with the rest of my Ethereums. Investing in ICO's is not my kind of invesment so i try to avoid it unless there is a game changer project.

What I do was I Invested it into altcoins then some of the coins I bought was in short term and other was in a long term.
Because those two are profitable to me, that's why I'm doing it so far.

I've been thinking and thinking about this... Probably saving it is very reasonable and stable option, many people say that this is a really good option in many cases.. but.. investing is so much more fun  8)

The main application for Ethereum is ICOs.

I use ethereum for long-term investments, judging from some aspects I know ethereum is great for long-term investments today. that way, I will get a decent profit.
I also recommend you do it, but I also recommend doing your own research.

better to hold. You can use BTC instead to buy altcoins. ETH's price would definitely have another run in the future due to their updates and real use cases from ICO's

I usually hold ethereums or I invest in a project that I think will succeed. I suggest  do it like this

I hold a small portion of my ETH and the rest goes to buying and investing during ICO's. There are several good altcoins and ETH has a good platform which can be used in buying, I often use it more than bitcoin. Through this, its a win-win situation for me, I earn in investing and I'll earn just by holding (in case ETH value goes up)

Certainly you should invest in many promise token like Spectre.ai! The rest of your ether is best kept for long term appreciation in value! We in crypto community are using ether! Ethereum as not yet gone mainstream like bitcoin, that means there are a lots of room for growth! If you can see clearly the future you will never hesitate to stock up on ether!

The price of ETH is 300$ for a long time. So it's partly predicable. If you invest in unreliable projects, you can lose money. So we should take into account all aspects and identify risks to make a profit.

I'm holding some but think it will go even lower when 2x fork is coming, after that we will go up again.
