if you mean as payment, then i don't know. maybe they want ETH tokens more than others. but there have been cases where they asked for bitcoin too.

if you mean as the platform to develop their crap and call it ICO then it is just because there are so many other ICOs that they can just copy. it is at a point where creating one is very easy. you don't need to do much work and also if you say "we are using ETH platform" it looks better compared to saying you use something else. because nobody cares about the project itself. everyone looks at the cover and judge the book by it ;)

I think ethereum is more affordable than bitcoin and it is easily to count the minimum ethereum offering rather than in bitcoin. The minimum for almost ICOs is 0.01, imagine if bitcoin is used then it would take more decimal places to get minimum and I think there is an additional fee for it so it could be a hard time for small investors to invest using bitcoins so the ICO prefers ethereum.

ETH is faster and that's why many ICO's are choosing ETH as the payment choice for their investors. There are some Waves and other preferred coin and majority chooses bitcoin and eth at the same time. We know that these two are on the top so people preferred to choose these coins for those people that wants to join their ICO and get some tokens.

beside of those nonsense answer above. many ICO launch with ETH because they could simply create smart contract, deploy it, and it's ready to use. Yes that is true. A lot of ICOs really do use eth. Although there are some that use btc and waves, the majority are eth users. Mostly because the blockchain system of eth is faster. Plus some just go and copy and avoid hard work. which makes it easier for developers to produce another ICO. Which then the greedy people take advantage. My concern with ETH token ICOs is the added degree of centralization that relying on the ETH infrastructure/governance entails.  Consensus decisions could be made outside of your control that have an impact on the viability of your token.  I'd rather see a ETH fork, honestly, than something built directly on the ETH IX.  At least them you control decision making fully regarding your token.

I do recognize that it's more complicated to do that, though.

Because it's easy to regulate the ICO tokens with ethereum smart contracts. Most of the tokens are ERC20 standard which is defined under ethereum class. These tokens are therefore supported by ethereum blockchain and can be transmitted, tracked and used easily over it. These smart contracts makes the project to be easily regulated or operated and that is why they go for it. It would be difficult if you do the same with bitcoin. There are no possible smart contracts with bitcoin blockchain as it is not made that way. May be that's the legal reason why they use ethereum.

That is probably because there are too many ico's based on ethereum technology, and maybe they want to raise ethereum to have a better conversion rate, i dont know, i have never invested into a ico because i have never feel attracted to invest into one.
But maybe it would be better if they would accept bitcoin as a payment proccessor, or maybe other altcoins like litecoin, dash, etc.

You should learn more about smart contract and its utilities however ethereum platform give simple use in order to create a new token with proper characteristics. Waves and counterparty offer the same services.

I think that the process is much faster than people actually claim it to be. If there was an Altcoin that doesn’t feature any of the Ethereum smart contract, another coin smart contract then that coin is likely to do really well. That’s only for stating a scenario that happened right now, there was many coins that didn’t have an ICO and didn’t launch with an Altcoin smart contract back then though they had a nice ideas on how to build things –they didn’t do what they stated that they were going to do so they failed.

I don't consider that as a problem, that is an opportunity for investors and success for the ETH platform.
The purpose why it's created is to gain users and now that users are increasing and sometimes it cause a network clog down but they definitely will do things to improve the system, also the transaction fee might be lower when update will commence.

I can say that almost all of these projects, which showed a significant increase in their numbers during the last bull period, failed and no longer mentioned in the market.
