Title: guiminer issue : fixed, now broken again (edit : still need help!) Post by: Jerbaybtc on May 28, 2013, 07:07:20 PM hello all, i have been mining successfully for a few days after finally biting the bullet, trying to decide if i should invest in an actual mining rig. ANYWAY
today i got home from school and got ready to start guiminer up, when this happened :: 2013-05-28 12:02:35: Running command: poclbm.exe jeremy420.worker1:19891989j@api2.bitcoin.cz:8332 --device=0 --platform=0 --verbose -r1 2013-05-28 12:02:35: Listener for "Default" started 2013-05-28 12:02:37: Listener for "Default": WARNING: ADL missing (no AMD platform?), temperature control is disabled 2013-05-28 12:02:37: Listener for "Default": 28/05/2013 12:02:37, started OpenCL miner on platform 0, device 0 (GeForce 9800 GT) 2013-05-28 12:02:37: Listener for "Default": api2.bitcoin.cz:8332 28/05/2013 12:02:37, checking for stratum... 2013-05-28 12:02:37: Listener for "Default": api2.bitcoin.cz:8332 28/05/2013 12:02:37, no response to getwork, using as stratum 2013-05-28 12:02:38: Listener for "Default": api2.bitcoin.cz:8332 28/05/2013 12:02:38, No JSON object could be decoded 2013-05-28 12:02:47: Listener for "Default": api2.bitcoin.cz:8332 28/05/2013 12:02:47, Failed to subscribe 2013-05-28 12:02:49: Listener for "Default": api2.bitcoin.cz:8332 28/05/2013 12:02:49, IO errors - 1, tolerance 2 could anybody help please? also, any knowledgeable person who would be willing to help me in private chat with a few bitcoin related problems such as :: 1. how do i buy a bitcoin, ive tried online and it seems very difficult. Id like to convert the 300$ cash sitting in my wallet into 2 bitcoins. plz halp! 2. talk me through what type of mining rig i should build (i know more about computers and computer hardware than bitcoins, im not as dumb as i sound.) 3. how long it will take for my initial investment to pay off, and if i invest slightly more will it payoff faster -- thanks in advance! Post by: Kaepora on May 29, 2013, 04:11:52 AM do you have stratum changed to yes?
For a rig buy AMD 7950s and I would say 4 GBs of RAM and a cheap processor. Use CGMiner. Get PCI-Express Risers to separate the cards or else they will get hotter next to each other. For example my motherboard has 3 side by side PCI-Express slots. When the cards are seperated I get ~67c per card with the fan at 54% when I don't use risers I get 75C To buy bitcoins transfer money to btce https://btc-e.com/ using a service in the finances panel after signing up and the buying is straightforward right on the home page, type in how many you want to buy. 3x 7950s would be roughly 750 watts to 800 Watts including everything used for a PC except for a screen. They hash at an average of 550 x 3 hashes with LTC and lets say .14c a Kh/s = $167.34 profit a month after paying electricity, this is the same for LTC and BTC. Dont forget to join a mining pool and they usually have a pool fee of 1%-5% Calculate your LTC/BTC mining profit: http://ltc.kattare.com/calc.php More specifically for BTC Profit Calculation: http://www.bitcoinx.com/profit/ snapshot of profit calculation: http://gyazo.com/bf94efde0be2d0a40ca8b90444aca28a |
