Title: Resin Bitcoins SOLD OUT!! :D
Post by: dodgrr on June 24, 2011, 09:24:54 AM
Looks like there's been a bit of reformatting here on the board, so I'll start another thread over in this section :D
I'm a resin artist/nerd and I am producing actual resin bitcoins for purchase.  My first project was a limited edition run of 10 coins, embedded in clear resin.

This is what they look like:
http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5240/5836147569_d2da573e24_m.jpg
HUGE thanks to everyone that purchased one,  I'm shocked at how fast they sold out!!  :)

So these are the coins for the first 10 orders:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3164/5865520627_37c9d6ba5a.jpg
Once completed, these will be shipped out in the order they were purchased, along with notification and tracking info to the new owners ;)

I've honestly been stunned at the positive reaction these have gotten, and I've been asked many times now if I plan on making any more....so, here's your chance!!  ;D This sale will be just for the coins, not embedded in clear..

The price for 4 coins, shipped in the US with tracking is 1 BTC.
(Sorry, no paypal payments available as I'd like to keep this experiment "BTC pure" haha!!)

Each coin will be sequentially numbered; the earlier you buy, the lower the numbers.  Sorry, no requests this time around, as it creates madness with lists :)

These will be available for a limited time.  Once the run is closed, no more of this version will be made.

I'm not sure what the best way to do the order process, so here's the plan for now: just contact me for payment info :)

Purchases will be shipped out in the order they were received, (I'm estimating no more than a few days from the date of purchase :D)
So that's my pitch...

HUGE THANKS again to everyone for the support and interest.. I'll keep this thread updated as I go, and please feel free to ask any questions, I'll do my best to answer them ;)

d

Do you ship outside the US, to say, Sweden?

And aww, those clear coins looked nice, pity they are out of stock already :(

yep, international shipping is available for an extra .1 btc, I use standard airmail and I can send the customs number and a picture of the paper work as proof of shipment, unfortunately tracking an international package gets really pricy.  Message me for a quote on cost if you'd really like to add tracking and I can figure out how much more it will be :)

oh wait, the coins are actually inside something, and not separate?

I usually like to have a lot of stuff on my desk at the computer which I sit and kind of, uh, play with when I'm bored or watching something, usually coins or a small swiss multi-tool knife, and these coins looked as something interesting to have on the desk :P

hah  :D sorry for the confusion.. the first resin bitcoin project I sold here (sold out,) was a coin suspended in clear resin.. this one:

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5240/5836147569_d2da573e24_m.jpg

The currently available resin coins are not embedded in anything, just the naked bitcoin tokens :D

thanks again for all the orders, about 9 hours left to this sale!!

ok, so OCD has kicked in.. the clear cast pieces are taking a bit longer than I'd hoped, but the production is rolling along.. I'd rather they all get the attention they deserve, rather than rushing to get them out.  So, thanks for the patience everyone, I really hope you all love these things :D

anyway, couple progress pics while you're waiting:

Title: Re: Resin Bitcoins SOLD OUT!! :D

I sent a PM to him a couple days ago, he said he was still sanding the resin down for a lot of them and was sending them all out as fast as he could.

If your order got in relatively late (I believe I was the last person to order, for example), don't worry about it, demand for these was obviously way higher than he expected and he only does resin as a hobby.

I find it hard to believe it's a scam. This is his flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/7992295@N06/. Looks legit to me as long as he really is dodgrr and not someone who found his account and he just happen to make some resin bitcoins, lol.

Everything is fine, I am still mailing the coins, and I hope to send the last shipments tomorrow. I've been sanding them for a while.

It is starting to seem weird. As someone else asked, has anyone actually received their resin coins?

FWIW, I did get a coin from the first batch, the ones that were encased in clear plastic.  I think it was last week.  But it did take longer than I expected.  I think he just didn't realize how much time it was going to take to scale up operations.

Hang in there...

Haven't received mine yet, either. I still have faith, I don't see why he'd go through the in-depth act it would seem he did just to scam.

I think it might be something more like a kid who got in over his head, and couldn't keep up or ran out of resin or ran out of money or something, and he dropped out.  Like that guy who was selling bitcoins for cash in the mail, got caught with his pants down when the price jumped up, and just disappeared.

It'd be nice if he would have refunded the BTC if that was the case.  But hopefully the coins will start showing up.

Anyway, does that make my limited edition of 1 / (up to) 10 from the original batch even more valuable?  Selling for 5 BTC...  ;D

He posted pics of the gold coins in resin complete, so I don't see why he wouldn't ship them unless there was some sort of emergency.

Number 2 from the first batch where they were encased in more resin?  Or from the second batch where they were just coins?

I'm starting to wonder if I'm the only one who got one.

He had those pictures up before he even completed mine, which was the first one ordered.  I was a little surprised when he sent me a status update saying he hadn't finished up my coin yet, since he was already selling a second batch.  I'm wondering if the coins shown were actually for the first batch.

Okay Mine was shipped out June 3rd and arrived July 2nd.  He even sent it with tracking, even though I told him it wasn't worth the money for something so low priced.  Unfortunately, I think I threw out the envelope with the return address.

Yeah, it is really weird.

Right now, my stance on this is that something weird has happened and he isn't intending to scam anyone, hopefully he'll return soon. Seems too unlikely that he would have made those bitcoins just to pretend he'd sell them, since he doesn't seem to have even sent more than one order yet (although others besides kgo might have ordered and not noticed these replies) and there was clearly more than one order in those pictures.

Hm.

After looking over the thread, it does seem that no one would actually go through all that work to scam people out of $300 or whatever it was.

This is pretty strange though.

I agree entirely -- I don't believe he intends to scam us...  Fortunately, I paid with PayPal instead of a bitcoin, so I could try to get my money back.

I am just hoping he resurfaces.  I'd rather get the merchandise.  :)

He might be in over his head and embarrassed to show his face until he finishes them all, but he definitely has access to a computer.

My payment. (http://blockexplorer.com/address/19H3sMjT7qu28cRd9ZviQgRk6ZJkU5hiyg)

Just yesterday he appears to have moved my coin, and if we follow it around it ends up in one final transaction with other coins, presumably payments for the resin, just today at a master address (with ~100 coins) which I won't post here because I'm still fairly sure he's got good intentions. If you like, you can probably find it just by following the blockexplorer links, it's what I did.

Posting this info here because it's just one bitcoin for me, but others might be more concerned.

Still waiting on my resin encased coin. If it doesn't come in the next couple days I'm going to be filing a dispute with Paypal. and considering this guy a scammer. I don't care that one or two people have received theirs, I have had absolutely no contact from this guy since he got my money so as far as I'm concerned I'm out my money for nothing.

I just wanted to post and say my friend just got his coins yesterday. He ordered a 4 pack but also ended up with a clear single coin as well. Not sure if he sent the wrong order or if he just tossed in as a sorry this is weeks late type thing. But ya it is WAY late.

clear coin was supposed to be a gift for anyone who ordered the individual coins.

Ah the clearcoin was a gift? alright guess he got the right thing then. On one of the plastic bags he also wrote 1/10. Not sure if that has any significance or not. Either way, he did receive it.

I think he totally fucked up his orders. I received the #2 Encased Resin Bitcoin, whereas I should have received #3, a set of individual coins, and a clear coin. :/

I agree. I just hope whoever gets my order is willing to trade around, or dodgrr is willing to rectify it.

He said he had a myriad of personal issues which probably ended up with him being stressed out and mailing stuff out as fast as he could, even if the recipients were wrong.

Hopefully my set of loose coins comes soon, they look good though! I do agree about the quality, I figured the edition # of the limited "encased' coins would be included in the mold, but he just wrote 2/10 in sharpie before casting it ...

Am I correct in saying that the OP is no longer accepting orders? I really want a couple o' these coins.

Can any of the owners post and let me know the properties of the resin. Does it have a nice weight to it? Or does it feel like plastic? Will it melt easily? That sort of info I would appreciate.

I'll sell the very first coin produced, the resin encased model which is numbered 1 of 10, for 2 BTC.

Front looks great, but the back is too tacky for me, though. :] CryptoGirl or CryptoWoman (whatever her name is here on the forums) looks 1000x better than the coins, possibly more. I'm just an observer, not a judge. LOL

Does anyone know a email address to this guy (What I understand is that he lost access to his forum acc?)? I have moved to another apartment and I need to update him of my new address if he hasn't sent mine yet, otherwise I think I can solve it somehow, but it might be a bit inconvenient then :P

i seriously doubt i'll ever see my coins

He's not legit as far as I'm concerned anymore. I paid him and I haven't received anything as far as a explanation as to why I don't have my product. Just because he hasn't ripped of some people doesn't give him a free pass for ripping off others.

I have the feeling that he still come to look at this thread from time to time.

So... When he's here:
Even though you didn't intend on scamming in the first place, it doesn't make it ok to walk away from your obligations, especially those that are already paid for. Also, please don't think that getting paid via Bitcoin will make you anonymous. A simple google on your user name +'resin' will shows several of your social profile.
I believe you still have my paid order pending. The Bitcoin in clear block, number 9. (or whatever number. I don't care). Contact me if you need proof of payment, and also my mailing address.

:-[  yeah, I'm a horrible asshole.   I'm not going to air the issues I've been going thru here, nor should anyone care.  I haven't been following this thread, mostly out of guilt and the shitty feeling I had when thinking about this project and what was owed. My life has been full of challenges recently, but that isn't an excuse of any value to you guys.. I'll make absolutely sure that you all receive your items.  I accept full responsibility for this, and I'd like to apologize to all involved for the length of time it's taken to get your stuff.  I've never had any intention to rip anyone off, or steal from anybody.  Things just have a way of spiraling down fast.  Anyway, if you haven't gotten your coins yet, or you're just really pissed off and want to shout at me for a while, please contact me and I'll do everything I can to make it right.

Welcome back!  I am sorry it has been tough for you.

I kinda have my order.  I was supposed to get #2 and theoretically some free stuff was going to be tossed in (I'd have to look back through the thread -- I think it was a coin w/o the acrylic around it or something)...  Instead I received #3 alone.

Whatever -- I paid for one bitcoin and I received one.  Also, whomever it was that received #2 said they wouldn't mind us exchanging them once I had #3 (which just showed up yesterday).  :)

Seems it was ship on the same day I previously post about it.

And good luck on solving your current problem, what ever it is.

For what it's worth, well. I bought two of the limited edition ones, I think I'm the only one who bought two if I remember right. So if anyone gets to be mad it's me. :)

I ain't mad. I was a little concerned there, but even before you and I talked this morning, I was pretty much fine once they had actually arrived.

As far as I'm concerned, it's fine. So you've got at least one customer who ain't pissed at ya. :)

I did indeed say I would exchange. However now there is a caveat. Since I now own the #1, I'd like to take a picture with the #1, #2, and #3 resin bitcoins before I send yours in exchange for my original intended order, would that be alright? :D
