It's the reference client and thus the most trustworthy in my view. The blockchain check takes a few minutes, but so what. I just boot it up and then go make me a tea. When I'm back it's ready to go.

Well Bitcoin-qt is the most trust-less system, you can have for bitcoins currently, in consumer wallets. The rest you have to trust servers and other people.
