Title: How can I improve with my zotac GTX 1060 6.0GB AMP Edition
Post by: hamteivos on September 19, 2017, 02:28:48 PM
Surprisingly my zotac GTX 1060 6.0GB AMP edition only runs 15mh/s.
I manage to overclock till 18.8mh/s with:
Power Limit 70%
Clock -200
Memory +500
Fans 80pc
Claymore 9.8 /10.0

When i overclock above mem +600 then the MSI after burner started to hang and the miner will crash.
Any expert here got better idea how can I make it better?

I think its normal, try increase the power and core.. I got around 20.3mh/s at 85%

Chances are you have Hynix memory which doesnt deal with OCing very well. Download GPU-z and see what memory manufacturer it is. For a bit of stability in rease the Power limit another 5%. Also use the fan curve in msi afterburner as it saves getting errors to do to with temps (well i was when i had fixed fan speed).

I've 2 Zotac cards facing the same problem but on Samsung memory. Luck of the draw.

15MH is too low even without OC. You definitely need to update your nvidia drivers. A gtx1060 will run at at least 18MH on stock.

What drivers are you using? Be sure to DDU (direct driver uninstaller) and download the latest ones from the nvidia site itself.

Way too low. Something is wrong.
I think you should get 18 on stock settings.
I got samsung 1060s and they do roughly 23.3 MH/s 24/7/365.

What miner are you using, what OS, what drivers? (windows, linux etc).
Also what power supply do have? Just want to make sure you have enough power.

Try reinstalling with DDU and then plug one card in a time to get it detected.
Then shutdown , reinstall 2nd card and boot and then get that detected.

Rinse repeat and then check.

so what are the actual clocks MSI afterburner showing when you mining ETH?
first, for ETH memory is important, yes, but the core clock as well
so try with these setting
Power Limit 85%
Clock +50
Memory +500
Fans 80pc

what speed will you have ?

How come your AB settings are correct and it says you are drawing 34% power but you have 0mv on that card?

Have you tried mining zcash? maybe you have a hynix memory which isn't really that good with overclocking, on zcash you could get better results if i'm not mistaken, my zotac mini 1060 3gb gets about 24 with overclocking and i found that the power limit is hardly an effect on it

the 34% is temperature

How come it says "GPU2 Power Limit%" then? Also it still doesnt explain why its 0mv. Even a card sitting at idle will draw somethjng.

Have you checked out the thread in this subforum about GTX 1060 mining performance? There's so much content in there, you might find something. (But it IS quite a lot to sift through.)

Make sure you don't have a temperature limit linked to your tdp limit.

I second that - check your drivers first.

Make sure you're using the most recent version of the miner second - you may have to try some different ones. Are you using Claymore or?

I am using claymore 9.8, i tried claymore 10.0, doesn't make any different for me.

Hi hamteivos,

If you have time, please try XMOS. Light weight and optimal for Nvidia GPU.
