Title: Top 50 Most Trafficked BitCoin Sites
Post by: bitcoinwatchdog on May 29, 2013, 06:54:28 PM
I've put together a list of the 50 most trafficked BitCoin sites, I thought people might find it interesting:

http://bitcoinwatchdogs.com/news/bitcoin-top-50-who-is-getting-the-most-traffic/

Please let me know if I missed one or screwed up the rankings in a major way and I'll fix it.

Pretty cool  8)

EDIT: The "More in BitCoin News" slideout is annoying.

Also, is there a way to brows/sort by category?

sorry but what ripple is doing on this list

You can use ripple to transact in bitcoin denominated IOUs, so therefore it is related to bitcoins.

How did you monitor the traffic data for all bitcoin websites?

Well, let's take a vote about Ripple being on the list.  It's currently there because they accept BitCoin and they have a bunch of traffic.  But, I'll let the forum decide.  Voting stops in 24 hours from this reply.  The current count is 2 for "no" and 1 for "yes".

bitcoinchecker: Those URLs aren't even close, sorry.

Fuzzy: I'll try to see what I can do about getting those in sortable columns.

coinpeculiator: The list is based off of a combination of Alexa, Compete, Quantcast, and search engine rankings.

This site is getting blocked for malware. Anybody else seeing anything? (I have JS turned off just in case).

Regardless of what Ripple is accused of being/not being, if it's Bitcoin-related then it has it's place on this page. I vote yes.

Tomatocage: Hopefully, you weren't referring to bitcoinwatchdogs.com?  The website is verified clean according to Sucuri, Comodo:

http://sitecheck.sucuri.net/results/bitcoinwatchdogs.com
http://siteinspector.comodo.com/public/reports/14462397

kodo: btcquick didn't make the cut because the traffic was too low, although very popular in Canada.

raze: I'll add another vote for Ripple, it's now tied.

SatoshiDice is only #13 yet it's one of the top BTC addresses? Interesting. Good read. Where did you get your statistics from?

bitcoinget: You are correct, bitcoinget and bitvisitor do qualify for the list.  Thanks for the input.

Xch4ng3: The list is based off of a combination of data from Alexa, Compete, Quantcast, and search engine rankings.

makes sense to me. satoshidice is a gambling site. most people who visit bitcoin sites probably don't even own any bitcoins, they're just reading about them, and of those that have them, they are not spending them constantly, they may simply be holding them. maybe doing one transaction per week on average while the chumps are throwing them all on satoshidice because they have nothing better to do besides dream of getting rich instantaneously. more power to 'em  ::)

This.

You can spend bitcoin to buy Gyft cards too, but no one would suggest it being listed as a "bitcoin site."

It's official, the votes are in and Ripple is officially off of the top 50 bitcoin list.

glassuser: This made room for coingig at spot #50.

Woohoo! Thank you so much!

One quick fix, are you able to rename it to Coingig instead of Coin Gig

Thanks again!

glassuser: Yes, I changed the name.  No problem.

freedomno1: Thank you for your input.  BTC Trading Corp has been added to the list at #47.  Havelock Investments is not close to the top 50.  MPEx would be in the top 100, but not the top 50.

Keep in mind they are receiving about 30% of their transactions if not more from the blockchain.info wallet game section/stored addresses.

Also remember that one person can do 10s of thousands of bets, they wouldn't count as 10k hits of traffic though.

bitcointalk.org should be number one.

Can you publish some numbers to back the rankings. What source/numbers are they based on?
Asking out of curiosity.

I would have guessed that Bitcoinstore.com (http://Bitcoinstore.com) would have made the top 50.
