Title: Has anyone tried mining using a passive PCI-e splitter board?
Post by: hendo420 on May 29, 2013, 07:38:17 PM
Has anyone used anything like this to add more cards to a mobo?

That's not passive. That's active. I'm sure it would work just fine, a similar device is used in the viDock. However it's not cheap AT ALL and it's much better to buy a dedicated desktop.

What about something like this to add more video cards to a single mobo?

Oh wow. I've never seen those before! YOU COULD HAVE INFINITE VIDEO CARDS IN EACH BOARD!

Thats what im talking about. I want to set up a rack mount server type setup and run like 10 or 15 cards on one board.

At $90 to get 1 extra port(it takes up 1 port and gives 2) its not very price effective. I can get a mobo/cpu/ram for ~$160 that has 3x pcie 16x and 2 1x. If they could be got in bulk for around $30 each I'm sold tho. :D
