Title: WhereToMine.com - Determine the best coin to mine with your hardware
Post by: kevindeangelis on May 30, 2013, 12:05:41 AM
WhereToMine.com (http://WhereToMine.com) is a mining profitability site to show which coin will bring the most return for your sha and scrypt hashing speeds.

Select your currency, enter your hash speed(s), and click calculate.

The site also lists out resources and many pools.

This thread is for talking about the site, what to add to it, etc.

OOH, I'm mentioned on CoinDesk.com: http://www.coindesk.com/wheretomine-highlights-rich-deposits/

The site gathers data from www.coinchoose.com, www.dustcoin.com/mining, and www.cryptsy.com

If you like the site and find it helpful PLEASE DONATE!!!

Enjoy!

Sorry, something doesn't look right. It says my 1100KH/s, can make $14.00 per day, mining WDC. I don't think that's right, that makes it ~250% more profitable then BTC...

very nice site, will you be adding per month/per hour aswell as per day?

changing the currency symbol in the headings when using the currency selector would also be a nice touch

Is the block count right on my site (86062)?  As kevin mentions, my daemon is still reporting that difficulty, but I can't find a public block explorer to validate.

I like this site as it offers something more than the other sites (including mine).  Once we get into these percentage calcs, then it just becomes a clone :)

I agree, I don't think you would need to take anything else away to implement this, I just meant to add it as new column to sort by as it is something that at least I am accustomed to and like seeing (not that you should just cater to my needs). I personally think this site is better than most of the other ones (no offence to coinchoose  ;D)

thanks for the feedback, yeah, I noticed that today. Will fix soon.
The pools header should be displaying properly now.

I just added an average increase / decrease to the sparklines on www.WhereToMine.com .  This should help indicate if that coin is gaining or losing value.
Enjoy!
nice, btw the 0 isnt cleared when clicking the hash rate input box and the Name header background on Pools looks odd

I just added an Avg % Change column which shows the historical average change.  This is good for sorting by what is historically increasing/decreasing vs BTC

Enjoy!

added some more coins (and links to them)
added some more pools (and links to those too)
added some more features (hashrates clear when you first click on them)

.... and I got my first rig set up!! Ubuntu 13.04, 7950 (but on an old motherboard), 600w PSU, using reaper getting about 550kh/s
GPU 548.8kH/s, shares: 606|146, stale 19.41%, GPU errors: 0.3897%, ~548.83 kH/s

I had to cut it back because I don't think my MB (It's out of a Dell Inspiron 530s and about 5 years old) can support the fastness of the 7950. when Intensity @ 20 was getting high GPU error and stales.

some updates!
- added more coins HYC, AMC, and FST - Thanks www.Coinchoose.com !!
- fixed a bug with the coin history sparklines (it was showing history for coins it didn't have history of! - it was magical)
- Made the default hash rate 1 instead of 0 (so that sorting works better - I know, it's weird)

Hey! great site! love it.

Though right now I can't get it to display any data, the whole chart of coins/rates etc is missing.

Is the site down for repair?

Thanks,
Greg

ugh, not down for repair, the difficulty data for the coin gets pulled from coinchoose.com, which seems to be down.  Once it comes back up, the data should re-appear.  sorry for the inconvenience.

well, it took a little while, BUT I now have the site pulling from multiple sources and then combining the data into a single feed.  This way if one source is unavailable, I'll still be able to show data.
oh, I also added a few more pools too.
If you enjoy the site and find it useful, PLEASE donate!  -  TBH, I actually haven't received a single donation yet :(
A donation will help with the upkeep and hosting - Thank you!!
oh, and click some of the banners on www.WhereToMine.com - that helps too :)
Enjoy!

Now on www.WhereToMine.com you'll be able to see coins that are traded vs LTC.

I don't have some stats, but I do have history and dollar values now for DBL, GLD, JKC, MEC, RYC.

Total of 35 coins shown on the site. Enjoy!!

block reward is based on difficulty but not by a massive amount, i think the default reward is 100 and not the 500 you have listed
current blocks being made range from 103 to 105

to give a nicer comparison an input box for scrypt-jane would be nice like theres a box for sha and scrypt. hash rate is different for scrypt-jane

Realized I hadn't posted in a while ... so here's what is new with the www.WhereToMine.com site:
- I just added a crap-ton more coins (although, I'm still in the process of getting all the info for them)
- I removed the separate area for pool, because now pools are a drop-down for each coin
- I removed a couple of ads (but, please click on the ones that are on the site)
- oh, restructured the back end part and I took out some other javascript and crap so that the load times should be much faster.

Let me know what you guys think!  - suggestions (and donations) are always welcome!

I've emailed you twice about your site. No response. Your difficulties and your profit levels are all way out-of-date and/or just plain wrong. It says it updates every 5 minutes but that's obviously not the case. Also, it switches between BTC under market and LTC under market column, seemingly completely randomly. For instance, half the time, the numbers for MEME say "BTC" under Market, and the other half of the time it says "LTC". There is no option on the page to choose.

Please fix your site, and start responding to your email.

Hey Kevin,

I noticed your site says MEM coin is not being shown due to problems with your difficulty feeds. Well let me tell you.. that is only the beginning of your problems. Just checked and BTB is still way off, reflecting absurdly high profitability. There are most likely a lot more coins that have wrong difficulty. You should just start completely over with that site, because it's pretty much shit at this point, to be quite honest.

Datacoin is not scrypt. It is a CPU coin since it is a fork of Primecoin.
