To stored my bitcoin I use paper wallets only. Most of my holding in bitcoin are long term, so I have transfeered them int paper wallet and kept them in a safe. Regarding Etherium and ETH based other tokens, I use myetherwallet. Its the best out there till now

read this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1631151.0 for some details on bitcoin wallets. as a starter i suggest using something simple like Electrum. it is fast to sync and easy to use with a good documentation.

for ETH, there are a couple which you can find on their website. there is also myetherwallet and blockchain.info as web wallet.

You can use any of the wallet like coinbase or xappo or blockchain which are associated with 2factor authentication and google authenticator is a good choice which takes access after putting code from authenticator.

There are no trusted wallets. You see, just stick to this simply rule. "not your private keys, not your money. your private keys, your money". You're probably good to go with wallets that provides you your own private keys, such as coinomi, jaxx, mycelium and others. You want extra secure? Use a hardware wallets (trezor, ledger nano, keepkey). The most secure one one would be a paper wallet, print it and store it in a secure location. Done!

For bitcoin, I have used Electrum and so far this is the most trusted and safest wallet out there besides the Core wallet. However, Electrum is very fast and lightweight as well. You do not need to download the whole blockchain to be able to used it. And fees can be adjusted dynamically. So you have options to adjust it depending on your needs. And for your protection, you need to backup your seeds and private keys just in case something went awry on your laptop or PC.

For ETH - Jaxx wallet supports both ETH and BTC, however, there have been issues lately on Jaxx so I stop using it. I have tried MEW(MyEtherWallet) so far I haven't had anything bad to say about it. But just like any other wallet, backup is needed as well.

For bitcoin and ethereum, it is generally advised to use hardware wallet if you have large amount of bitcoin or ethereum, after that my ether wallet is good wallet or you can look at mobile wallet too but neither of them can be completely safe.

I am using Electrum for Bitcoin. It is so far safest and most robust one. For Ethereum, I am using MEW. I had doubts first but I use it safe and sound.

For me the best wallet for Bitcoin that I can recommend was Electrum wallet and Multibit hd, while in Ethereum still the safest one was myetherwallet.com no else except this one I don't trust in coinbase ethereum wallet because they are asking your private key which is anytime they freeze your account there.

As far as I know any wallet downloaded from applications in the android phone is not that safe as well. It is still much good to download wallet on desktop like multibit hd wallet.

Parity is not a safe wallet right now, because a lot of ethereum already drained from there and that was actually not a good place to store our Money. I just remember the parity multi sig wallet bug that gives a lot of the scary thing to the holsers.

It really doesn't matter, you can lose money in every wallet, hot or cold, exchange or mobile wallet. First you should be very careful and smart and always diversify the risk.

Blockchain id my choice for Bitcoin but you need to adjust fee before sending btc out.
For Ethereum myetherwallet is the best cause you own your own private key.
Also for both you can use ledger for more secure place

At the present time now, I would say yes it is safe now. But I just don't know how long it will be safe, like what I said it safer than the other exchange platform. So, you can keep your coins in bittrex for the mean time.

Never store all your coins in one wallet. That for sure the most wise advise.
Now regarding which wallet to use. Nano s ledger wallet for me is far one of the best to store your coins.
In addition etherwallet is also a a very good option.

Myetherwallet is the historical ethereum's wallet.

You can only store your coin in a blockchain or on a website, but then, you can store the private key to access this data, on a paper, in a usbkey or whatever you want

For bitcoin you can easily found many wallets but it depends upon you that which one you will use According to your recuirments .
Bitcoin core is better for the handle Wallet in pc , but if you are simple user and don't want get multiple fascilities then you should use blockchain.info official and if you want use mobile then you should also use blockchain ( use can get official application for blockchain ).
But if you want use bitcoin Wallet with slow internet connection and with Multiple permanent adress then my suggestion for you to use myselium Wallet ( but don't forget to make backup of the wallet Because everything depends upon the the private key and , you can import private key if you have from any Wallet .
Here i would like to suggest you that don't use third party wallets Because in third party Wallets we have not full control over our Wallet .

The wallets you can download directly from their website of the coin.
If you keep your wallet encrypted, you should be secure enough until quantum computers crack all the keys.

Coinbase is a good wallet which has the option to store bitcoin and ethereum in the same wallet. Although its charges are high it is safe and secure option to store both the coins in the same wallet. If you want separate wallets for both the coins then Mycelium or Electrum would be a good choice for Bitcoin and then myetherwallet would be the best choice for storing Ethereum coins. The wallets I mentioned are best in the platform and have a good review from many users.

For bitcoin, since I am from the Philippines I use Coins.ph mostly. But when storing BTC I use Electrum, they said that mycelium is a lot more simplier though I have not really tried one. BTW, both of them has there own private keys so I think whichever you use your bitcoin is safe.
In ethereum I use MyEtherWallet and avoid the application in playstore. Be sure that when choosing an ethereum wallet you own the private key. I was so dumb to use an app wallet in playstore without a private key. I have used it receiving a token and I cannot retrieve it now. MEW it is.

I think it will be much better if you hold it in a storage that you own the private key, apparently keeping it in exchange site is detrimental for your coin. Exchange sites are very much susceptible in hacking and things as such.

In bitcoin wallet the thing that I could recommend was Electrum, Multibit hd, and Coinomi then in Ethereum only myetherwallet I can give the best to you where you can put your Eth is the safest ad secured as long as you keep your private key.

Bittrex is safe in terms of trading and exchange. It is mostly used exchange for trading as it has high market cap and a good collection of coins.
I really don't know if it is safe for storing coins in its wallet because i have heard from many that never store your coins on an exchange. Although bittrex is safe we never know what might happen tomorrow. So if you are planning on to store your coins then an offline wallet will be a great choice and if you want to trade coins then bittrex would be the best choice.

Since i'm from the philippines i'm using wallet right now called Coins.ph. And also i have Blockchain wallet for my Btc and Eth like what you said. But if you want web wallet i recommend you use "Coinbase" ( http://www.Coinbase.com ) if you want Bitcoin wallet and "Myetherwallet" ( http://www.Myetherwallet.com ) for Ehtereum wallet.
