Post by: pankajbhaban on September 21, 2017, 12:32:41 PM
Hello,

Well till now i recovered bitcoin cash from 4 of my accounts using backup phrase then importing wallet to another bitcoin cash wallet worked perfectly.

But today i had my 1 more account where i received 2.2 BTC 2 years ago, i checked using blockchair my address has bitcoin cash, but when trying to recover from above method i am getting message "No positive bitcoin cash balance found".

I tried using btc.com / coinomi none worked.

Please suggest.

Hey! Do you have a seed of the bitcoin wallet, or what kind of backup do you have access to?
If you have the seed or private key, you can try Electron cash (https://www.electroncash.org/) for this purpose. However be careful, since by default electron cash uses same folder as electrum, so watch out that your files don't get mixed. If you have electrum too, i recommend taking a backup of the folder before trying electron cash.
The data folder for electrum is located at %appdata%/electrum usually. Feel free to ask more questions if that did not work, or if you need help with this case.

Have you tried to import this address in Electron Cash? Do you only have a private key or is the address generated from a HD wallet seed? If it's from a seed, which software is it from?

I'm not sure if this is possible with blockchain.info's wallet.
It uses a bip38 wallet and you'll only have the private keys as it's 2 years ago (unless ou can get your recovery phrase and work out a way to extract your bitocins from there). There'll probably be a site that allows you to decode your private keys from that recovery phrase (as it's a bip38 seed but I don't know what the derivation path of that phrase is). Once you find the derivation path, you can then import your wallet into electrum though if it is indeed a bip38 wallet (I don't know when they started using BIP38).

blockchain.info didn't introduce seed based accounts until early 2016 i think so it'll be an old school private key account.

you'll need to open the blockchain.info account, which must be a separate one, send it out and then retrieve the private key. use a qr code generator to turn the private key into a qr code and then sweep it into the coinomi wallet.

DON'T DO THIS! (In the way I understand it at leastL).
If you send bitcoin to another wallet, the bitcoincash does not go with it.
The bitcoin cash will remain in the first wallet.

And I'm not sure you can export private keys in the new interface using old wallets (people have complained in other forums that they can't sign transactions/access priv keys from their account which means they normally have to contact support for help).

Uh yeah. That's the whole point. Move the bitcoin before you expose the private key.

Ah that's what you meant.
Apologies, it seemed to me that if OP read that thread, he might think that you're suggesting the bcc will dynamically move with the BTC.

It is definitely recommendable to move all the BTC to an entirely different wallet before attempting to extract the BCC (even if it is with a trusted system/site).

The instructions for the blockchain.info wallet decoding are here https://github.com/OmniLayer/omniwallet/wiki/Exporting-Private-Key-from-Blockchain.info-and-Importing-to-Omniwallet.org:
Quote
•Login to your wallet on Blockchain.info
•Goto the 'Settings' Menu on the left
•Goto the 'Addresses' Submenu under 'Settings' Menu
•On the right side find the section named 'Imported Addresses'
•Click on 'Manage Addresses'
•On the new screen find the address you want to export the private key from
•Click on the 'More Options' on far right side of that address
•Select 'Private Key' and then 'Continue'
•Choose the 'Private Key Format' : 'WIF'
•Copy the Private Key listed

No biggie, let it go. It can't be worth more than a couple hundred bucks and that is not worth the time to recover it. In the hour to get it done you can triple that amount on the exchanges. You have to learn to implement good time management and chasing change is not the way to go.
