Title: Which transformer do you recommend for 2 Antminer D3? Post by: may142012 on September 21, 2017, 09:06:23 PM Hi, i am from USA and new to mining, i don't want to break the circuit in my house for running the miners for 24/7. So which transformer do you recommend to run at least 2 Antminer D3 or even S9? I have been looking for something like this. http://www.ebay.com/itm/5000-Watt-Heavy-Duty-Voltage-Regulator-Converter-Transformer-Step-Up-Down-5000W/361930490550?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649

I have a link wait for it. this is exactly the way to go https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2192299.msg22020934#msg22020934 okay a 30amp pdu like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-HP-EO4501-Server-Power-Distribution-Module-228481-002/232449268221? has 4 sockets it is rated at 24 amps internally to protect your 30 amp circuit breaker. that complies with the 80% derating. it is a cheap price for good used gear it can run 4 of these psu's at 1300 watt draw each http://www.parallelminer.com/product/2400-watt-power-supply-kit-for-gpu-mining-94-efficiency-200-240v-up-to-24-gpu/ buy 4 of these https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=24206 buy 4 of these pico psu's https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2040729.msg20802414#msg20802414 this setup above will do 4x 1300 watt rigs safely on a 30 amp 220/240 breaker with an l6-30r http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pass-Seymour-locking-receptacle-L6-30R-MADE-IN-U-S-A-30-amp-250V-twist-lock-/390917364485? and the 30 amp circuit breaker for 240 volts needs to use 10 gauge wire to that l6-30r cost for all above is about 50-60 pdu 420 psu's oh use code slush for 5% off 20 power cords 10 l6-30r 100 for the pico psu's about 600 bucks to run 24 gpus on four 6 card rigs. don't cheap out all the shit above works is tested and should work for years. [/quote] in your case you could buy 2 psu's since you want less power. and you could expand later. Title: Re: Which transformer do you recommend for 2 Antminer D3? Every single one of those Consumer-grade step/up/down transformers are a piece of shi**. Tried that route several years ago and despite only pulling 1,400w each from 2 of those - both rated for '3kW - they were literally crispy fried in less than a month. There is a reason they are so cheap - very thin wire in the primary and secondaries along with simple paper insulation. If you absolutely need to use a transformer, get a REAL commercial/industrial rated one from Grainger, McMaster or AutomationDirect.com. They are absolutely bullet-proof. Point is - is ALWAYS better to just bite the bullet and get proper 220V power. Got an unused electric dryer outlet in the laundry room? |
