Title: Anyone else that got ripped from all their BTCS!? Post by: frostsoar1 on June 24, 2011, 03:42:19 PM About 4 days ago my Mybitcoin account got hacked by the hackers who hacked MTGox.
They took my 23,5BTC's. After sending a email to support I got a answer about that they couldn't do anything about it...(!?) Did this happen to anyone else? it's a *really* good idea to use different passwords on trading sites (mtgox) than "bank" sites (mybitcoin). Your password hashes were released to the world from MtGox, and if it wasn't a *really* good password, then it was compromised pretty quickly. There's probably nothing mybitcoin can/will/should do about this... it's not really their fault. Title: Re: Anyone else that got ripped from all their BTCS!? Post by: frostsoar1 on June 24, 2011, 03:58:39 PM Yup, I understand that fully.
But the thing is, if the hackers sent the BTCs to their accounts. They should be trackable. Idk, Well :) Will have to start mining from scratch even that I dont really feel for it atm.. :) Did they increase the difficulty couple days ago? And indeed, the BTC transaction is traceable, however it's not reversible. The info is out there in the blocks, it's just a matter of identifying where your 23.5 was, and watching where it went. http://blockexplorer.com If you know what public key you used to deposit there, you should be able to trace through and see. There's a good reason to record everything you do, down to the minutest detail. I did that with all my transactions (recording them), then for some reason stopped at the time there was all that money to be made with NMC mining and trading. I withdrew a load of money from MT Gox the day before the site was shutdown, but the money has not been transferred to my bank account :( I would have to stop recording things then, dumn arse!!!!!! I have just discovered god, and now doing a lot of praying :) |
