Title: wrong address in BTC/ALT? where is coin gone??
Post by: onetoniro on September 22, 2017, 10:57:01 AM
I have BTB and sent to wrong addres... question is
1. I sent my BTB to BTC address, in this case first number of BTB and BTC is same --> 1B (e.x 1b7hio84u09hoi0............)
so where is coin gone??  is this scorched/disappear?
2. Then if another people start to new wallet and get BTB address like I have been sent (e.x 1b7hio84u09hoi0............), maybe after a few months/years of my   mis sent.... did he get my coin?

I'm not familiar with BTB, but if the developers were foolish enough to use exactly the same key format and checksum as Bitcoin it would indeed be possible to send off BTB coins to a BTC address (and vice versa).

I'll let others more technically skilled confirm/debunk this, but I *think* that the BTB can be recovered in such a case by manually importing the private key for the matching BTC public key you sent the BTB to, into a BTB wallet. This assumes you were trying to sent to yourself and have the private key for the BTC address. This also assumes the BTB wallet allows for importing private keys.
