Title: What's the most overvalued crypto?
Post by: ICObazaar on September 22, 2017, 02:31:32 PM
I guess people have read a lot of positive and useful information about most popular cryptocurrencies, but very rarely we see well reasoned criticism of them. What's the most overvalued crypto in your opinion and why?

I agree that Ripple is overvalued and Dash is overvalued too in my opinion.
There are more of them LTC and Qtum is little overvalued too.

Bitcoin cash , an altcoin , not a btc fork , it's overvalued too much .

Agree with Ripple, but I also think Litecoin is overvalued, nobody uses it. Digibytes is overvalued too - it got pumped because they enabled segwit, but again, nobody uses it.

Ripple for sure is overvalued in the total market cap, but i am not sure if it is overvalued on a individual ripple coin basis, being only worth like 17 to 20 cents at any given time.

Will be interesting to see if ripple ever takes off and goes way higher. ETH at one point was less than 1 USDfor a long time.

You never know1

Overvalued, I would say probably when BTC went to 5,000 it was overvalued. Apparently the market agreed and dumped down to 3,600 or so we are at today. Of course i expect it to go baack up as more people use it and buy into it though. next year 10K per btc seems reasonable.

I think ripple, nem and digibytes are the most overvalued coins right now. They don't deserve prices they got currently. Bitquence is bit overvalued too.

I think that ICO tokens are overvalued because as I see, there are many projects that do not even have a great product or a good roadmap but still listed on the top 100 crytpocurrency on the marketcap. it is a huge mistake since they are not deserved to have a big market cap at all

How can you say Digibyte is overvalued, its market cap is too low. It is being used more than most currencies out there

Dash is overvalued. Its price is too low to use for any purpose

Bitcoin Cash is overvalued. Its price is mostle depended on its name which has Bitcoin in it.

Any immediately sold out ICO is likely overvalued. The hype is enormous and there's only one direction for those coin values to go over the mid-term - down.

In my own opinion the most overvalued cryptocurrencies are
Ethereum Classic - nothing special with this, its just riding on Ethereum success. This is the most overated currently in top 10 with market cap of $957,531,904
Stellar Lumens - payment system between banks just copied what Ripple do. for me this coin doesn't deserve to be listed on top 100

Dogecoin is extremely overvalued. It is nothing but meme and it gained lot of value. It has really high amount of transactions it is really weird. It should be lot lower than current price.

i agree that dogecoin and ripple are completely overvalued. one of blockchain important feature is that is decentralized, but at ripple i can't see it. and it is a coin for banks. so sorry not with me.

I used to think that Ripple was overvalued though they've been working pretty hard over the years. The coin that is over valued in my opinion is Dogecoin.

I like what, how the ripple was overvalued considering from its current price, the centralized coin should not worth a lot like ripple.

Ubiq seems to be the undervalued but that was the only one from your statement, I just consider that the litecoin was overvalued comparing with there is no innovation has made by litecoin rather than copied the bitcoin development.

Dash is overvalued too in my opinion.
You think?  I don't know.  I'm happy Dash has gotten to $300--I honestly never believed that would happen in my lifetime, though of course I don't own any anymore, having sold what I had at like $3.  Figures.

Take a look at what's offered on Yobit, and you'll see trade volumes of 0.1BTC/day, and they're all valued at a few satoshi.  The ones with no buy walls and no way to even sell them.  Those pieces of shit are probably the most overvalued altcoins in existence.  Things like Ripple & Dash & litecoin, people use those for stuff.  Doge, too.  It's hard to say they're "overvalued" when people are actually paying money for them.  This has always been my problem in crypto.  People try to analyze shitcoins like they're stocks, and it just isn't possible.  There are no earnings, and no business conditions that should affect them.  So basically the market says what they're worth every second, every minute of the day.  How can you say a coin is overvalued when that's the price people are paying for them?

BCC, by far this is my opinion of most overvalued coin ever, i don't think it brings anything new to the table, it doesn't have a distinct feature, its just a lump that has fallen out of btc and it got valued over nothing.

If we were exhaustive about all the coins that are overvalued I think we will end with a list containing almost all the cryptocurrencies in existence, most projects are not worth much but people keep investing in them for the possibility that they pump and it gives them great profits, only a handful of projects have any merit to them and those are the only ones worth investing.

I think Ethereum is a little overvalued. It is still largely being traded on speculation. But, I don't expect price to drop too much anytime soon though as it is a promising crypto with some real life applications starting to roll in

Hi guys, I am curious how did you compute over valued, or under valued crypto ? Do you follow any mathematical formula or is it just guts :)

Most of the coins listed on Poloniex seem frankly to be quite overvalued. However, the are not alone. Iota seems to me one of the most overvalued. How did it become 2 billions $ in just a few months?

Definitely just guts here, lol. There's no formula for yelling you whether a coin is overvalued or not- Unless you have your own formula for using their coinmarketcap and total supply and trading volume, maybe. Most of these calls are always going to be by opinion.

In my opinion, I think that Ethereum and Doge are overvalued. Doge is overhyped just for a meme coin and I don't understand the investment unless there's a base market for it that you're buying in to trade for. Ethereum still has slightly expensive transfer fees and the only thing I like about it is the platform for making new coins. Transfer times are good but Idk if that's enough to call it a great coin.

I agree with this, if that coin did not had bitcoin on its name it will be worth nothing, people got blinded by the idea they were going to get free coins in a new chain that they decided to give value to those coins when in fact if an altcoin like that was created today it will not bring any enthusiasm at all, and people will quickly dismiss such a project as just another copycat project.

I am looking at Bitcoin Cash as really overvalued. Aside from huge miners that shifted from Bitcoin to Bitcoin Cash because the profit is much bigger on the latter, Bitcoin Cash is not at all used practically. NEO is another overvalued coin for me. The chinese market is huge and that is the main reason why NEO is getting high.

Oh man, NEM for sure been around through all of that what the fuck is happening there. The only thing I can think of is that people think they are 'cheap' and have a lot of room to run. *terrible* market cap is huge and it offers nothing over more advanced platforms.

Iota, seems overvalued but I don't know enough about it to say. Just my impression. I'd also say just about all erc-20 tokens are over-valued and that will come crumbling down in the near future. Possibly just form the Etherium blockchain collapsing under its own weight. Undervalued, Bitcoin :)

I own some Tezos too but it's not really under or overvalued, its not anything yet. :)

this year we had a big pumping season and that made majority of altcoins to go into bubbles. most of them had some news to increase the bubble size and have a bigger pump and some of them have already came down. but most are still in them.

ETH, DASH, XRP are good examples of these bubble coins which need to come down to low prices because theyare overvalued.

Wait until ICO's start to be banned all around the world and the scams start to collapse

I feel like it's ETH. The price of ETH has skyrocketed exponentially ever since its ICO and people are essentially getting hyped over absolutely nothing. I just don't feel like that ETH is going to be useful for anything but ICOs.

i think that short term ETH may still gain a good percentage or two in terms of price but in the next few years when the hype cools down i'd expect it to be at least down 50% from its current price, perhaps even more to around 0.03 BTC or less.

Bitcoin Cash by far. It has the same purpose as Bitcoin with a huge market cap, and no real-world use at all.

I would say around 90% of coins are overvalued, especially anything that claims it is using machine learning as most of these are scams. Some other ones that come to mind... namecoin, pepecash, peercoin, etc.

Bitcoin, Ripple, Bitcoin Cash, Dash, EOS and Stellar Lumens are really overvalued atm. I do not mean by current price in $ though, I mean overvalued by their share of total crypto marketcap.

90% of all ICO projects - tokens are overvalued. Also a lot of "old" projects nobody uses are overvalued. I do not agree XRP is overvalued, because it has a real use in the banking money transfers. When DYOR always determine : idea, tech, real use product, community, development goals, mcap

In my opinion there are a few of these cryptos that look really good for a dump or say in other language most overvalued cryptos.
These are Ripple, Dash, IOTA, NEM and NEO. Ripple has continued an epic dump after an epic pump, and will likely continue to drop further in first week of October with a possible rebound later in the end of October. Ripple  can come down to $0.05 or $0.10 in this month. Dash might  drop in October and back under $200 and eventually under $10 in a year or few years because of the lack of end user adoption. IOTA may go up to $1.50 before it starts dropping in Sept with the Bitcoin price, so wait it for a crash in October. NEM seems to have a drop along with the Bitcoin price eventually to under $0.20. NEO just went through a huge spike which will lead to correction in October as the euphoria wears off.
This all above prediction is based on technical analysis.

BTC most overvalued now, I think Ethereum is actually extremely fairly priced at the moment, although a lot of that is based on potential and not proven returns.
In order for Ethereum to really grow further, I think it needs to produce solid concrete results. 2018 is going to be a big year where I hope some of these technologies start getting used more.

I am not against WAVES, but I think it's slightly looking overvalued because people trust it just because its decentralized exchange allows users to trade tokens created by them. Still, I feel that it needs a lot to beat the current price and needs to progress further in order to maintain the level it is currently holding because there's not a lot we could find about them (may be an advantage but looks more scammy, still looking more to remain updated and keep up with them as well as their project's development). This is not a criticism but a suggestion for them to make the exchange a bit more transparent to let the volume increase.
