actually they are not the BEST gpu cards for mining, they are pretty carp cards for mining and overpriced. i sold my 6850 months ago for 50euro...

Anyone buying a card that does 200MH/s for money must be sniffing glue.  With Bitcoin difficulty it'd take forever for the card to make it's ROI, especially considering the amount of power these things use.

The 4870X2 uses nearly 300W of power to do 200MHs.   A cheap 7770 for the same price will do the same MHs and only use 80W.  And it'll have a warranty.  And it won't sound like a snow-blower.

my 6850 does not get that high of hash rate

Overpriced? You sold your used card, did you? How much you think should cost a new one?

Try to find better price for it. I looked for:

And it still best card for mining in terms of cost/hashrate. 300MH/125$ = 2.4. No other card today make this ratio. It's a fastest card to break even.

you obviously don't pay for electricity

these prices don't matter.  i think all three of these cards have essentially been discontinued, so they aren't made anymore

best price comparisons would be for used cards on ebay

for 5750, the avg is around $50, but the person selling this will only get about $42 of that $50

6850 is around $90 (though I see several that went unsold at $75), clearing about $75.50

thats actually not bad for litecoin, people are paying 350$ for 7950s which do 700 Khash, and the low level ati cards dont comsumer very much power

who would pay 350 for a 7950?  They are commonly available for 300 new, sometimes available at 280 new when you take a rebate, giftcard or game coupon into consideration, and available used for around 230 or so. 

People need to get real on pricing.. We're not far away from GPUs' *only* market being gamers who don't want to pay for a new card... that market is not nearly as big or as profitable for a seller.

I haven't paid a dime over $250 for any of the 7950s I own. at 650khash (that's what I'm getting), that's 2.6, I can get double or more hashrate per mobo AND per watt of electricity, not to mention MUCH better resale/repurpose value.

I wouldn't buy anything slower than a 6970 for mining, and I'd have to be getting them dirt cheap.

Powercolor 7950 right now at NewEgg at $269.99 and it comes with $20 rebate for a total of $250.

It also comes with 4 games which could be resold at ebay for about $35.
So the final price for this new card would be about $215 and it would hash at about 600Mhs, So the ratio is about 2.8 Mhs/$

Did you buy the 7950's used?  I paid $269.99 for mine.... or are you counting rebates + games?


no reason to as long as they still sell for inflated prices on ebay and amazon

i've bought some 7790's, 7850's, and 7870's, just because as of right now if you do the rebates and sell the games, they become profit once they hit your doorstep

Some used, some new. I got the new ones on sale. I AM counting the rebate, but not the free games.
