Why are there more joke coins than a real coin?
It's easy to clone any coin without innovation. But the energy and time consumed for their operation would just be a waste.

I compared published sources to VIVO (also DASH clone) - almost no difference. The key difference I see - VIVO has diff fix to address nicehash issue, STAP does not have it so if nicehash will start target it, the same issue will occur. Other changes are minor in mine opinion (maximum number of coins, start block, yearly decline of production by ~7.1% per year vs 10% for VIVO, etc).

We already have dash folk e.g pivx. Except this coin is going to address some other problems and improved on dash, there is no need for this.

why does the wallet never stop syncing?

the source code of this SOFTWARE is same as DASH. (changing some parameter is not matter)
difference is the amount of network

while peers are too few, too low difficulty, no masternode, etc...wallet never stop syncing
and can not be mined by X11 ASIC.
(its same as DASH)


...by the way, i got thought of new coin...
its name is "ROCKETMAN".
it has a rocket function to destroy and get coin from the other's wallet.

I started a masternode and i do show one other node out there.  This really calmed down the wallets complaining about not being syncronized.

Every one can mine this right now  cpu and low power ussage.

not premined  -anonymous japanese developer, then there will not be any bounty, and the stock exchange will have to add themselves.
it means that we will have to think about this right now, my opinion should now be written on Novaexchange, and start voting together..
at the moment this is the most optimal option, unless of course someone who admires this coin does not want to pay extra for adding to the stock exchange.

Trust me this one is all solo cpu only coin.  You will have to get in to see how it mines then you will see why your gpus and asics wont mine it.

but first we should update the artwork and icon.

you can run a masternode, but it wont be ideal.
every 24h your internet gets disconnected and you will get a new ip
im not sure, if you are very unlucky you would have to restart your masternode and/or update the config with your new ip
and your node gets set back in the winners list (not sure about that either), meaning it will take longer to get some coins for masternode

you need 1000 coins. every dash or for that matter any masternode tutorial should help. check out my old artic guide (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1139923.msg20571991#msg20571991)

 At me all is even worse, the address sometimes at an o'clock on 2-3 times varies..

The masternodes are working great so far and recieving 9 coins per block.  Did you try to make one yet.

I will try definitely since I have enough coins to start it and I have my own ESXi server to run a node. Just need find some time for that :D

I think coins with POW algorithm still much more interesting and financially rewarding for most users like miners, traders and cryptocurrency aficionados. They are long time and avid crypto followers who have been here before the ICO boom in the past couple of months.

@iwillbetheone and @cryptostallion  i woke up this morning and mining computers were shutting down because of low disk space.
overnight the debug log of STAPcoin had bloated anywhere form 20gb up to 36gb.  i have multiple computers that were mining this.
Is there going to be any fix for this issue?

Same. There is a section on debugging in the command line tools section and I entered the -printtoconsole and -shrinkdebugfile commands and they said their was an error but the log size stopped growing.

If your disk did not fill up I suggest everyone checks the size of their debug log in the data directory. :)

the fix should be pretty easy. but it has to be either DEV or somebody else but with access to the GIT repository otherwise any 3rd party fix will be a "fork".

The correct command is:::::      -shrinkdebugfile 1

You can shrinkdebugfile   but  this is the line that is loading up the file none stop

Ok now just shut off the wallet, go to the roaming folder STAPCore, open the stap.conf file put the line shrinkdebugfile=1 and save the file
delete the debug file and start up your wallet. Now everything should be fine till the dev fixes this issue.

Edit:  This looks like it works but in reality the file is still there and when you shut off the wallet it writes everything in to the log anyway.
after shutting down the wallet after a hour the file was 8gb in size.  There is something major wrong with the wallet right now.

shrinkdebugfile is commandline parameter of Qt Core. not debug console command.

usage is:

stap-qt.exe -shrinkdebugfile

How do we control CPU usage ? What if i have to use half of my CPU hash for mining?

in the "mining.bat" file you have to change the "generate" options from 1, 2,3,4 etc .. (depend how many CPUs you have there), that will really help about the mining.., but instead of that, the diff rise too much and at the moment it's "difficulty": 0.011960451 ..., which look it's impossible to be mined with CPU ...
I think some one find way to mine that one with GPU ..., which make the "CPU only mining"  not fair...., and we have to stop our wallets..., + the problem with the fast growing debug.log ....
I still can't stop it growing, nvm what I put in the conf file or what I'm doing..., like SHOTGUN say there is probably majority problem with the wallet..., and some one have to fix it.

Never seen such short announcement with bare min details. I think people love to get as much info as possible for all new projects and not just few lines here and there. I mean we love to read details and not necessarily whitepaper. Many a times new project publish a lot on whitepaper and over period of time all those details are lost. Hence I think that it is very important to convey everything to the audience so that people understand the project better.

I hope, we get the details soon unless the only reason why this project was launched is to mine and dump.

It is exactly what was announced: CPU solo mining only.

This is a dashcoin clone.  The block gets cut three ways 10% to dev or 5 coins and whats left of that is 45 coins 20% or 9 coins goes the masternode
and the other 80% or 36 coins goes to the pow block finder.  There is a developement fund it just takes longer to grow compaired to a premined coin.

This is brilliant - cpu's for the win!!! No asics, no gpu's, no pools - sounds perfect

Dont do the  first one. In console run masternode genkey
then run the command getaccountaddress 0
send the coins to the output address.
Fill in the conf files where needed.

you need to send 1000 stap to your 0 address, its the address which gets created when you first launch the wallet
once it gets confirmed the outputs command should work

But still have something which I can't get, why in the debug.log still have all this errors: "TIME:****** ERROR: CheckProofOfWork(): hash doesn't match nBits"
It's really strange to me, because it look working fine. For a minute it grow to 229KB for me, not like before 25-30MB for just a minute or two.
Please let me know why is that.
In the other hand about the selling..., Dudes, why you don't wait a bit more, to can grow up the community and to be listed at exchange ? You just mine some coins and consider to make short profit ? You are able to open the conf. file from the wallet and edit it right there: Wallet: Tools-> "Open Wallet Configuration File"

After you finish your conf file, and save it, you have to exit the wallet and run it again xD

Been trying for 4 hours now.
I think the problem is someone is now mining with over 600Mh, no idea why but i think that is what is causing all the problems.
Since internal wallet is mining with a few kh, i don't know who is trying to screw this coin with that kind of power, but pretty sure the masternodes and wallet cant keep up with the blocks from that 1 miner.
Block time is set at 2mins but i can see new blocks every 30-40 secs

my wallets have no problems to be synced. Hash power is now 800+ MH/s and difficulty jumped to 19+. It means that CPU mining is dead for this coin.
I would not be surprised if some dev took existing neoscrypt GPU miner and tweaked it to mine this coin solo. Personally I would do it :D

it means UMRcoin is 100% pure clone of Monacoin.
all parameters and functions are same.

Monacoin is Litecoin+Vertcoin+DASH chimera coin without masternode function.
Pure mining only coin.
Lyra2REv2 is asic-resistant but Monacoin is already un-solomineable because pools exist.

already asic or pool players have appeared(i dont know why they do) but they are mining not so much coin called instamine as DASH.
simulation result: if DASH had started max reward 50 coin, it would not have been instamine.

I'm certainly not a programmer, and technically at the level of a teapot I understand programming, but it does not happen. I have mine on the computer CROAT on the GPU and Umar on the CPU, I did not leave for long, when I came, I saw that the Internet had been disconnected within an hour and on the GPU the miner gave an error, while the Umar on the CPU continued to collect the blocks, How can this be?  ???

I'm still asking, is it there option the difficulty to be changed as  "Digishield"? It's more accurate and better for the mining processes.., it's disappoint the GPU and the ASIC miners..., the pool miners too.
and once they stop mine it.., the difficulty will drop down by it self.., when get more hash power it will rise in few blocks and they will be unable to mine it.
The difficulty is still over 5.., and we can nothing to do :S

Weird... Coin is not listed anywhere, no roadmap, but somebody is mining it like there is no tomorrow. Difficulty is 87+ and hashpower is 6+ GH/s!

This is the most elaborate ANN I have ever come across. Still not sure the purpose of this coin. Is this one of those coins which are just launched for fun and have no true value?

If anyone understands the details behind this launch, would mind sharing the details with rest of us as for sure there are people just like me who are not even sure as to why this coin was launched.

11K coins..., you probably put 50+ CPUs to mine that one..., or you are one of the ASIC miners who just get the dif to the sky (and all that just for fast profit...).., and the regulars miners who just use CPUs there can't reach anything now ...
Now you realise it's not been listed on exchange and you think, WTF is going on.., why I spend some time on that coin :D (the last sound good to me :D ), if you are one of the ASIC miners...., I just think this will be not listed ever..., but for the regulars miners probably it will be xD GL  ::)

added checkpoint helped me to avoid 99% sync of DASH common problem.

I started my old one (release #1) and it synced without any issues.

after i restarted stap daemon yesterday, it stoped synchronizing governance objects...

Well ..you see , this is a dead project . Since it is dash fork, dev gets a lot of coins (15% ? ) from every block .He thought if community members help grow this project, he can dump coins and make $$ .  But ASICs ruined mining and so the community . Sorry dev and RIP stap .

The dev was too lazy. it was 100% clone of VIVO before they made a fix and the dev did not change anything since.

You know why he comes ? Since this is a dash clone dev gets a % from every block , if someone develop this coin and get listed on an exchange, the original dev becomes rich :)
