Title: [ASK BITCOINTALK] How many of you would use this service?
Post by: PrivCoin on September 24, 2017, 02:30:23 AM
Hey users, as many of you know PrivCoin ( https://privcoin.io ) is gearing up to do a signature campaign https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2199389.msg22111914#msg22111914

We posted a topic asking for quotes on management fees and some of them were frankly outrageous in our opinion. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2196716.msg22076450#msg22076450

So we built a tool to do 90% of the work for us. How many of you running signature campaigns would pay a tiny fee to use this to run your own campaign? Some of the images below contain things that require Administrator permissions and sorry they aren't embedded images I think my user group doesn't have the right permissions. Mods/Admins help?

Let's register to the PrivCoin signature campaign

https://i.imgur.com/fi5X24k.png

But we never added a Bitcoin address to our profile, so there's no way to receive payouts!

https://i.imgur.com/1AlPTiT.png

Now we added an address but not using the prescribed signature!

https://i.imgur.com/BJOezZX.png

Finally we got it right!

https://i.imgur.com/fx24Ku8.png

Let's look at the users that applied, maybe we want to accept one

https://i.imgur.com/M3x4wKs.png

Let's look at the campaign overview for this week

https://i.imgur.com/XpmiwjO.png

Now I want to look up hilariousandco because I'm a nosy person

https://i.imgur.com/TuC1jGB.png

He has some invalid posts, let's see what they are and why they got shot down and by who so I can complain

https://i.imgur.com/1zhJy4m.png

Now let's look at his valid posts, I want to make sure they're worth paying for!

https://i.imgur.com/qza4twT.png

I found one that was garbage, let's remove it from his running total.

https://i.imgur.com/bVTp9rp.png

Not shown here: Kicking users, approving users.

What do you think? Would you pay to use this to run your own campaign and reduce manager fees?

Quoted so you could see the images. As a newbie they won't show up for you. Check back in a couple of weeks and they'll be there.

Just an FYI, as I'm sure you already know, these bots are really frowned upon because other crappy bots have been used. Assuming yours is the next best thing since sliced bread you shouldn't have an issue. 90% automation sounds right about where you should be. I would also suggest a public bounty offered for fidning spammers in your signature campaign.

Thanks for the image fix!

If you've used our mixer or unknowingly used our other services we don't advertise here then you'll know everything we make is the best thing since sliced bread.

The bot will even remove Quoted text from post count length calculations when checking if it meets minimum requirements.

Finding spammers will be up to a hired post quality checker or we may task one of our team members to do it ourselves.

If i were running a signature campaign i believe this is going to make everyone's life easier. The campaign manager/administrator of the site can not have to look through all posts of every single user and can semi-automate the process.

I read up to your thread about campaign managers asking for crazy pay - don't hire them if you think the rates are ridiculously high. You can do tihs yourself, as long as you keep to the standards of the forum.

Obviously it's recommended that you get a campaign manager, though. But 900% increase in your running costs is pretty ridiculous.

I think I've seen your review campaign but unfortunately I've missed it.
Your service seems pretty usefull but how about adding any kind of quality check function? Something like plagiarism checker comparing user's posts with the other posts in the thread.

We are likely going to make this service free for a bit to demonstrate that it's useful while at the same time slightly advertising PrivCoin.io

This system can be time-saving for sure but still, need a human action to check what an automated system can't. I was participating in a campaign using a similar system but still needed a human behind.

You can set a length per post to be considered as a valid post, but a bot cannot decide if what the user is posting is good enough.
Can your system exclude quote as well? Because there are some experts here filling their posts with quotes.

I remember a campaign sometimes ago using only an automated system, and I think they suddenly stopped after some days and have never come back. I can guess why

Both are already implemented as you can see in the screenshots. You can even invalidade a post manually if the quality isn't good enought.

BitMixer? The campaign stopped because they closed their services.

This is an interesting service and could be used as assistance but could in no way replace manual labor for checking the quality of posts. This is something that actually requires a lot of intelligence, any bot could be abused.

Yes I understand that some manual parts will remain but it would mean that campaign managers won't be able to justify charging $5-10k for managing a campaign. Especially since we're going to open this service up for free.

Eventually I can hook it into an AI or spam filter for better results but that would cost some money. For now I'll just keep improving the post detection algorithm but as mentioned before, you can invalidate posts manually in two clicks.

Yes, I saw the different screenshot posted, my point is, it it's still needed to check the panel to filter poor quality post then better to do it from the forum directly. Managers can't read the full dissucussion within the panel. So let say you repeat for the 15th the same thing he won't be able to see it

As I said "they stopped after some days" So no, not Bitmixer, as this campaign was running for months (I know they closed the service btw) It was another I just don't remember the name.

Spammers are more smarts than that and don't use a quote tag to make it looking like an original post. I saw it many times

For sure $5-10k is not justified at all

This app is really a thing, this thing will be a big help for managers lessen their works but hiring experience manager plus this will make a better result.
Dont just hired someone unknown campaign manager that will just check the bot or some posts but of course he should be some experienced or the campaign will be still a mess.

Thanks! I sent a PM to the Admin of this forum asking for an account with a few extra permissions. If the request is granted, I'll be able to have the bot notify users via PM when they are accepted into a campaign, removed from a campaign and any warnings for spam or signature violations. Many times I see questions such as "How will I know if I've been accepted into the signature campaign?" and this will solve that.

Wow man., this idea is amazing. Just imagine the time saved if this gets to be working properly. The thing is though, I still don’t think this can replace a human. Because a bot is a bot. We can never argue about that. And bots don’t have common sense and don’t have the same comprehension as what we humans have. They cannot understand the way we can(at least not the same level). Yes, hiring people needs money. And yes, we humans have lots of weaknesses,  But if the person hired is dedicated to his job, i think he is more better than any bot made till today.

It is a great idea but I am not sure if it is going to work. There were some persons who tried the same thing in past without being successful. I dont think an app can recognize the real quality of the posts because one person can write a 50 random words post so the app recognize that post as a good one just because the lenght of it is good. In my opinion I dont think there can be created a bot that can perfectly run a signature campaign by its own, because it has to be an incredible good bot

This is what Bitmixer did. As long as you still have a campaign manager monitoring for spam, it should work fine. I'm sure you realize this cannot be relied on 100%. One of the reasons that the SMAS initiative developed was to have an automated way to avoid spammers. I think the main reason that most campaign administrators don't do this is because most campaigns are temporary and they figure it's not worth coding/testing a bot for a short campaign.

Also, there is escrow to consider, and many services (I think) prefer to pay for convenience -- having one person do everything, without any need for additional monitoring.

Anyway, good luck with the campaign. I may apply, as I'd prefer to advertise for a good mixer than betting sites or ICOs. :)

The thread and the images are self-explanatory. It's a tool made to facilitate the life of the campaign managers from the forum. The regular member can apply for the campaign in the campaign website, and the manager will approve/reject your application, while the system automatically counts your number of posts if you are in.

Now isn't it nice how you sorted out your own problem - and now have a solution that benefits an important part of this forum? I've seen a couple of sites and/or services now offering automated campaign management but this is the first time I've seen evidence of it actually existing. I am certain a lot of managers wouldn't mind paying a small fee if it cut down their time on manual checking.

I'm not sure I would advocate for campaign participants to use this service as well... applicants who fill in incomplete forms or don't follow rules should just be excluded by "natural selection". On the other hand, it can be helpful to avoid not meeting requirements (unintentionally).

Could even extend the service with more sophistication to normal forum users to screen post history and inform of possible violation (wrong section posting, wrong format used, etc.).

The app will remain free for other signature campaign managers to use even though we could charge a fee, we don't be.

The service is already extended and will screen wrong sections and post length :).

You could do it like BitMixer in the old times. The whole post count and payments proccess were done by a bot, and the only manual work was done by Lauda. She was only responsible for keeping spammers and shitposters out of the campaign by checking their posts regularly and banning them if they break any rules. If you were doing fine, the bot would pay you normally.
I myself would be interested in this kind of job, since I have plenty time and dedication for this forum. The only issues are: I have never managed any campaign before, - even that I know the whole process behind the job - and I wear your competitor signature (if you think this could be a issue).
I can't emphasize enough how true this is! I too would like to be a signature campaign manager, and I too wear a competing signature.

Allow me to advertise myself: have a look at my Hero Campaign Manager LoyceV looking for new campaign to manage - Portfolio (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1777744.0) please. If interested, we can discuss rates in PM.
I also have some experience scraping the forum.

The bot will even remove Quoted text from post count length calculations when checking if it meets minimum requirements.
How about nested quotes, and code-tags? Or other BB-tags, are they counted as characters? If I include those, the next word counts 56 characters: Hello.

Building on what TryNinja posted already, combined with your scraper, I would suggest the following:
1. Manually approve all applicants. Make use of the existing SMAS blacklists, and check everybody's post history before they join. If you don't allow shitposters to join in the first place, you only have to check their posts once, and you don't have to kick them out a week later. From what I've seen, allowing 10-20% of applicants gets you a pretty decent post quality.
2. A scraper won't reduce the manager's work by 90%, counting posts is a fraction of the work required to check posts. What you could do, is only manually check 20% of the posts. That saves a lot of work. Also keep in mind that reading the post itself isn't enough, in order to check whether or not a post is constructive, it's necessary to read other posts from other users in the same thread too. And that's what makes it so important to be very selective before accepting people, filtering them out instantly saves a lot of work later on.
3. A 4-word post can be totally ontopic and very helpful. If you require a 4-word post to be extended into 100 characters, the quality of the post is lost. A typical shitposter has a post history filled with all posts exactly 4 lines long, no line breaks, no exceptions. That's not quality, but it looks like they put in an effort.
4. Pay a reward for reporting spam in your campaign! The spammer gets nothing, the snitch informant gets 50%. (continued reading shows cpfreeplz already suggested this)

Yes I understand that some manual parts will remain but it would mean that campaign managers won't be able to justify charging $5-10k for managing a campaign. Especially since we're going to open this service up for free.
I guess the person charging $10k (per month?) is already loaded in work and doesn't want more. I'll charge less :P

Almost got it, https://sig.privcoin.io/test/search/?userid=1146453 missed the code header tags but everything else worked fine. Adjusted it to account for the code header tag. Round 2 will get it.

Edit: Yup. Works as expected now. The first test is under Invalid Posts, the 2nd is under Valid Posts because I added a little note pushing it over 75 chars.
