I finally had the chance to solo mine with my multiple machines without the botnets blasting the crap out of things making it impossible to see what was going on. I wonder if it got a botnet-like surge in hash rate followed by complete abandonment (like chinacoin and feathercoin) if it would get stuck at high difficulty or not?
