Title: An idea regarding activity & new accounts
Post by: BlitzPredict on September 25, 2017, 05:29:33 PM
Many are checking their activity until a time where they can post images.

Currently, after a 10 BTC donation, you can remove this restriction. The other option is wait 6 weeks and make 30+ posts, making sure not to miss a 2 week period of time.

Surely there is a better solution that eliminates spam but isn't so expensive. Maybe something like a .05 donation to remove the restriction? This would generate more revenue for the forum and solve the issue of weeding out spammers and trolls from serious accounts.

If you want to post images I don't think that a 2-4 week wait is a particularly long time. What reason would one have to embed images in their post immediately after registration?

If you're running a company account and would like to post a fancy ANN thread then you may want images after registration.

This idea would work fine I imagine, I can't imagine that people would be spending money to spam porn (which was why the limit was put in place initially AFAIK). However, similar things have been discussed in the past and it doesn't seem like theymos much cares to implement them on the current forum (likely somewhat due to the new forum software in development). I'd support this, but I wouldn't get your hopes up about it getting implemented any time soon.

Yes, this.

We can't be the only ones in this situation. We would be willing to pay a small price for the access, maybe $100 worth of Bitcoin would be a good USD normalized amount to shoot for, but paying 10 BTC? The branding is worth something, but not almost $40,000 at today's valuations.

In the past, 10 BTC might have made sense, but in today's market where ICOs, Token Sales, Airdrops, and other crypto-focused projects essentially require an ANN thread on Bitcointalk, the price could be lowered drastically and still weed out the spammers.

It seems like 1 entity spamming NSFW images is the reason for this policy. It seems like there is enough community-wide pain to justify revisiting this rule.
