Title: Heads Up People
Post by: Maria on June 24, 2011, 08:20:16 PM
If indeed MT Gox resumes operations today, I will make a 10K BTC deposit. If they do not, I am cashing out whenever they open shop and never do business again. Too many days already with my money hostage.

Prices will surge to 30+

Maria.

maria : i'm with you... I think we're hitting at least 25 by tomorrow.

The break has given me a chance to at least evaluate tradehill.  Will be interesting to see how tonight goes.

Absolutely. If you follow the Fibonacci theory, 32 is only the first peak, the price should hit around 75 in a 3 week period.

Or if you follow the metric system, you can double it and add 30  =p

are you saying you will be buying or selling 10k btc?

If you were really going to buy so many BTC, why would you tell us so we could compete with you and drive up the price?

That would be like me bidding on a Beanie Baby on eBay, then posting about it in a Beany Baby Collectors' forum.
Obviously I would either lose the auction, or pay a LOT more for that beanie baby.

Maybe your true intention is to SELL 10K worth?

Not to be cynical, but we always have to question things and people online.

My prediciton: 10k won't be big enough to move the market substantially.  Volume will be ridiculous.

It's going to be quite a party tonight!   Bitcoin party!

The trading should be quite a roller-coaster ride.

Down to $5
Up to $25
Then down to $2.50,
Then back up to $32.
The night will probably end at $17.50  :D

I'm not saying it isn't going to happen, I'm just gonna say it's stupid if the market moves that much.

People yanking their BTC out of gox will not change the price.  People willing to _sell_ coins at any price they can get will lower the price.  There's really no reason to panic sell.

I'll actually be happy if people panic sell.  My position is heavier in cash than BTC at the moment, so I'll be looking for a bargain.

When MtGox goes back up you're going to a surge in volume at other exchanges. Think about how many big guys had in storage at MtGox before they lost most users trust...

Sure.  People will move their coins elsewhere.  Why sell 'em though, unless you've lost faith in BTC rather than gox?  Bitcoin wasn't hacked, Gox was.  (so goes the story anyway.  Whether or not you believe it is up to you).

If one had to sell to withdraw from gox, then I could understand.  But when you can just click and transfer back to your wallet...selling doesn't seem particularly intelligent to me, especially when so many other people are going to try to sell too and you won't get your value.

Anyone can claim that he will buy/sell large ammounts of BTC. These threads are pointless, we've already seen too many trolls on these forums.

Ahhh, OK, you were jumping back on the OP's topic.  I was merely partaking in a side discussion.  Heh.

What the heck are you talking about?

There is no one with an ounce of credibility (read: more than a common troll) who claims the Bitcoin Block Chain has been messed with/compromised/exploited/hacked.

Bitcoin itself is, and has always been safe and intact. That much is not open for debate.

You can suggest that Mt. Gox is running away with all our money -- that much at least has a shred of evidence.

But a would-be Bitcoin cracker would have to have more than 11 Thash/s of computing power to screw with the Block Chain and counterfeit BTCs. He would be better off mining BTC with everyone else!

Although difficulty increases DO lop off 1/3 of my income (as a miner) each time they happen, I must say there IS a rosy side to Difficulty Increases. They make Bitcoin that much more hacker-proof.

OK, you've read something into what I wrote that I didn't intend.  Let me rephrase.

Bitcoin wasn't hacked.   (period, full stop.)

(Unrelated to the fact that bitcoin wasn't hacked) Gox was hacked.  Supposedly.  (As you said, there is enough out there to make some wonder if it really was hacked).

Got it?  I never suggested btc was hacked.

A year ago I was getting GOXED.. Now a year after I am getting ZHOUTONGED... Gox did indeed reopen and we have been very happy since.

Viva Mt Gox! Viva Bitinstant!
