One factor of this , why some people believe in conspiracy theories because they want to became unique on their way so they still remain believe on their own opinions , ideas and beliefs.

I believe they want to believe them because there are some that have become true.

It's easier to break trust than to gain it. Why wouldn't a government lie again? 

I also think it is connected with ego, they seem to think they know more or in some way outsmarted intellectual people.

One of the possible reasons of people believing in conspiracy theories is because conspiracy theories actually happen.

The fact is that human nature consists of being friends with someone. There are people who are eager to come to power or do what they like. If you look at how wealthy people or very influential corporations act in life, then I think that there should not be questions about the real existence of conspiracy theory in the world.

I think the reason why people believe in conspiracy theories is that some of it are convincing enough to be true. People are always curious and they always seek to know the reason for everything and they want to know the unknown. It's fascinating to know about conspiracy theories because some of them makes sense.

One single thing to remember,which is fact...We are not told everything,whether it's because there would be a global outrage or it's in their own interest.
The most stupid thing is to believe everything you're served with..so a little dose of skepticism is always justified.
Whilst 80% of these theories are complete bullshit,there's this 20% which has probably some kind of truth in it.

A large number of conspiracy theories have a lot of supporting evidence and that is reason for belief. Generally I think people tend to buy in to conspiracy theories that give them something to believe in that helps them with some sort of inherent thoughts that they are battling.

Pretty much this.   A lot of older conspiracy theories have been proven true.   They're also fascinating well at least for me.   Learning about conspiracies like operation snow white where Scientology infiltrated the US government is an interesting read.    The real question should be why do people automatically denounce conspiracies when history has shown they're not always wrong. 

I think the reason why so many people loved conspiracy theories is that they fascinate themselves on alternate truths and the version that makes everything better. It is so much a fantasy to some that they crave and would very much want to be true because it gives credence to their alternate versions.

I think some people who believe in conspiracy theories believe in those ideas because it restores a sense of agency. It gives them a sense of power. It gives them a sense that they can do something about the world.Conspiracy theories offer a comprehensive framework that answers questions about human nature, reality, our place in life and whatnot. A conspiracy theory gives a sense of order to an otherwise chaotic and unpredictable world.

There's sometimes an element of question to conspiracy theory.  Sometimes the human mind wants to believe something that's so outlandish that it could possibly be true.   ;D

people who believe are just faithful. the mind creates things for several reason which you mentioned, if they believe there's conspiracy then maybe there is a grain of truth just to entertain themselves. theories are theories. much like how people believe in darwin's theory about us came from apes. they are all theories anyway.

First and foremost, we have to ask ourselves why are there conspiracy theories in the first place and the answer that comes to mind is that, it's mainly because the government are not truthful about everything at all, when one hides secret, it makes other develop their own side of what they deem to be true themselves.

Exactly this.  You should not live your life blindly following whatever the news or anyone says.  ALWAYS know there is an agenda behind every report.  Question everything and educate yourself.

The reason why people believe in conspiracy theories is ignorance of ongoing stuff on earth. If people have enough information about ongoing events, people do not believe these ridiculous conspiracy theories for sure.

There are a wide range of conspiracy theories. Some are really out there and seem crazy while others are quite possibly true. As mentioned above some conspiracy theories have been proven true.

I don’t spend much time thinking about it but people should not blindly believe everything the media or government tells them. To do so is very naive.

People tend to believe in conspiracy theories because it's like a alternate truth on a topic. Especially unsolved and explained events, murders, organizations etc. When they don't know what is happening, the first information with nearest data on the topic, is the one they believe.

Boredom perhaps?  Believing in these theories is more entertaining than looking for hard facts. People are sometimes fond of overthinking reasons for things if they're not impressed or contented with a reasoning.

Yes, important factor is helplessness. People tend to accuse the others for its failure. That others are mostly some people who rule from shadow, they are invincible, untouchable... That's how conspiracy theory is born. And there is probably some small amount of people who don't care about all of this, they just like something mystical.

I can tell you why people don't believe in conspiracy theories. It's because it's uncomfortable, and more and more the attitude with the public is about being able to choose to believe what makes you feel happy, regardless of what is true. Things have degraded so much that now we have a phrase called "alternate facts". That's the result of people who chose certain "facts" that make them comfortable, and they will not change what they believe. They don't even consider that they could be wrong anymore.

Ask the average American if their government has ever intentionally harmed its own citizens. They'll be a bit startled, then they'll almost always say no, or give you an answer that doesn't make any sense. Sometimes they'll say yes and bring up the Tuskegee experiment as their example. This is because the Tuskegee experiment was used to further medical research and help people as a whole, so it does not qualify for the government harming its own people.

Believing that the US government would harm its own citizens is simply a line that most people will not cross, and nearly all conspiracies involve crossing that line.

From the earliest times mankind has sought through myths, supposed explanations for their lives and for everything that happens around them. However, today we are living with a religious structural diversity that diverges in many points explanations for questions until then pertinent. Among these diversities of explanation we have some from science (and indeed more rational). However, along with this need to explain the completeness of the mysteries, there are conspiratorial explanations, uniting from scientific pretexts (often taken from the science fiction itself), as supernatural explanations, turned to some religious legends. But always fueled by the need for interpretive satisfaction.

In the end, most conspiracy theories after a lapse of years turn out to be true. Why stick to the theories of conspiracy obscurantism about a flat Earth? What kind of conspiracy, for what purpose? Here banal illiteracy.

According to me, people are very curious about mysterious happenings. That's why , most of the people believe in conspiracy theories. Finding logical solution for mysterious happenings is very difficult. For that reason, people choose easiest way to fin answers to shady stuff . This is believing some ridiculous conspiracy theories.

We humans are very vulnerable creatures affected by proportionality, the tendency to not believe that something big can be caused by things that we consider small. In addition, we also tend to reject ideas that are contrary to our beliefs. This phenomenon is called 'backfire effect'.

But don`t forget, that people also love detectives. Conspiracy theories are like a kinds of detectives

I believe that corruption will always be a part of human nature and society. And in order to hide corruption, conspiracies need to be formed.

Look at the US/Russia investigation for example. More evidence is appearing that there was in fact some sort of conspiracy. Perhaps not to influence the outcome of the election, but maybe to gather detrimental information on opposing candidate.

And then there is the famous JFK conspiracy. The evidence strongly supports the theory that the CIA did in fact assassinate JFK. I have not gotten a chance to look at the new documents that have been released but will get to them in the near future.

I am not sure about all what it is linked to but I can speak about the theory behind them a little bit. And that is they are fun little theories to make because you cant proof or disproof conspiracy theories. For me that is the fun behind them whereas for some people that is where stuff gets super real lol. We all differ in our perspectives and approach to life conspiracy theories are no different :)

We all love stories and misterry, i think sometimes when the story is not very attractive people have a habit to add some more, they put a bit of sugar in it to be more interesting, the same goes with conspiracy theories.

Something in their culture and experience influences such beliefs. However, we cannot know whether it is just a belief.

Well in essence, people believe conspiracy theories to explain things they do not understand. Also it give them another side or perspective, no matter how far fetched it may be. Sometimes, people believe in conspiracy theory mainly because people who explain to them are very convincing (con man-ish levels). It also involves factors where too many possibilities are involved

Why do people believe in conspiracy theories?

Because people want information. And some of the easiest forms of finding out information are TV, radio, and the newspaper. These are full of conspiracy theories, and ideas that actually (subconsciously) prompt people to invent conspiracy theories in their own minds from what they see/read... especially if they are Government reports.

Well, to be honest, conspiracy theories are kind of fun. But it's pretty easy to get sucked into them, especially when you find yourself in a situation in which you see yourself powerless.

Alot of "conspiracy" theories have in fact been proven correct. A lot of tin foil hats have been discarded in the last few years and I expect many more to join that growing, shining heap.

there are two types of people who believes in conspiracy theories, those who are really gullible and those who are afraid of the truth, they have a lot to hide and can't accept what reality really is.

May be because a lot of them are not at all "theories"...

people like answers, they hate it when they cannot explain something. Similar to religion, they assume things and hope they are right.

People like mysterious stories. Personally, I, somehow these theories are not very interesting. I'd rather read a book.  ;D

The formula is simple. There is no such thing as a one sided argument or a one sided story. There is always a cobtradoctory side to everything. And i think that it is part and our nature to be inquisitive.

I think people believe in conspiracy theories because of the thrill and excitement involve in finding out the what ifs of this world.  It also has something to do with the fact that as humans, we are very inquisitive people and such ideas make you think in loops and so this gives you that jolt of energy you need everyday to keep on going. 

Because it's always fun to believe in something new that is clearly logical. People have so many beliefs which eventually come out as false, so why should we believe anything we do believe in now?

With conspiracy theories do you mean the silly stories which are published by mainstream media?

I think people choose to believe in some of these theories because it makes them feel like they have a one up over others. They know stuff other sheep don't and this empowers them. Anyway, that's what I have observed.

maybe because some conspiracy theories seems believable for them, and they rather choose to believe it instead... either they are deceived or they just playing ignorant about it..because there some powerful enough that conspires to make them believe and make the theories seem believable.. now a days very hard to distinguish between true and fake... and what is genuine...

I think it's so much more interesting to live believing that footage from the film is happening around) when a person doesn't have a saturated life of his own - he starts looking for colors around

Some individuals may have a tendency to find such theories attractive. The crux of the matter is that conspiracists are not really sure what the true explanation of an event is—they are simply certain that the “official story” is a cover-up.

It makes them feel good, as though they know more than the rest of the world.

Maybe it is because some conspiracy theories has some point and is also possible. It's interesting to know about conspiracy theories because some are imaginable but possible. Some conspiracy theories might be true or might be not. That's why some cases are still mystery to people, and some people even make up more conspiracy theories out of other theories.

Yes, because there are so many gaps that are easy to fill with similar theories. Although I'm not saying that there was no conspiracy)

I can understand believing a conspiracy like 911, because there's so much data on how things went down. But the worse is when so many below average people start filling up the gap for things with their bias bad logic. It messes up legit conspiracies.

I guess its because some people just lack knowledge about those theories. They don't confirm or base it on a scientifical theory, but since those conspiracies have sense, people just take it.
