Title: [AUCTION] Casascius 5 btc S1 ('Error bitnickel') brass coin
Post by: phr33 on September 26, 2017, 10:19:29 AM
I want to sell my 5btc Casascius coin I bought directly from Mike C back in 2012. It's not graded. I had it without any casing the first year, so it got a few minor scratches, but overall in very good condition. See the pictures below.

STARTING BID: 6.5 BTC
MINIMUM BID INCREMENT: 0.01 BTC
END TIME: October 4th, 19:00 UTC (Count down timer) (https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/generic?p0=1440&iso=20171004T19)
SNIPE: Any bid made in last 15 minutes will extend the auction 15 minutes beyond end time until no new bids are made.
PAYMENT: In BTC to 196QRvvjbGMjic8knaR17FkBw5bYggEaji
SHIPPING: Worldwide from Sweden. Paid by buyer
ESCROW: Any of the top known escrow services on the forum accepted. Paid by buyer

Seems to be less interest in this than I thought. Did I set the starting bid too high?

Feel free to start bidding from 6 btc, but I reserve the right not sell unless the original 6.5 or more is bid.

Premiums and general interest aren't very high for the 5BTC nickel, plus it's a lot of $ and probably not a ton of buyers in your area.

I see. I find it extremely difficult to figure out a strategy for these coins. The current BTC+BCC (bitcoin cash) value is about 5.5 btc, if one were to open the seal. But that wouldn't feel right. But if btc moons and bcc crashes these coins could very well end up being valuated less than 5.5 btc. Agh!

If you're not in a rush, im sure there's buyers out there in the 6.1-6.3BTC range.

Oh totally... not me ofc, but seriously, don't peel it, it's too rare and cool. Hodl it or maybe drop a PM  or email to Elianite / Coinfirm.org... He may be able to help you safely sell it beyond the forum as well..

Good luck! :D

Interested but worried about shipping across the Atlantic
Will the shipping be with insurance and ballpark of how much it costs
Please let me know
Thanks

Nice coin, peeling would be a waste. Seems there are offers able to save it. :)

Sorry for the late response. I've been out of town for a few days.

I'm in no rush of selling and I will not peel it. I promise :)

Thanks for all the offers, though I'm really not prepared to let it go for anything below 6 btc.

Hmm, yes I would need to look into the details of shipping to outside of EU. Seems difficult to insure the full value. I was thinking sending through certified mail with full tracking and that I take the risk on loss up until the point where the buyer picks up the package (required ID etc). In such case the cost in very small, around 15 EUR.

::EDIT This alternative is insured, but only up to 1000 EUR, which is obviously not the full value here. Hmm, I would need to look into customs forms etc. I might be required to state the full value, in which case it would be a bit riskier without full insurance.

Auction ended without any bids over the stated minimum bid, so I'll keep the coin for now.
Thanks to everyone that provided feedback or placed some lower bids!
