Title: Looking for parts advice for my first mining operation!
Post by: Lycanthian on September 27, 2017, 04:46:57 AM
Hello folks,

I'm currently selecting parts for my first mining rig and I would appreciate any assistance in this endeavor as I've not built a computer since 2004. This will just be a fun project for me to work on with money that would otherwise likely be gambled away at a casino. I've been searching and reading the forums here in addition to checking out youtube tutorials on building rigs but now I'm ready to get something of my own going. I'm constantly reading up on this stuff trying to get up to speed. I would like to start out focusing more on Monero and then branch out to other things once I get a bit more comfortable.

MAJOR work in progress list:

7x MSI Radeon RX 580 Gaming X 8GB (I have these already, impulse buy on a good deal)

1x ASUS B250 MINING EXPERT LGA 1151 Intel Motherboard

This isn't much of a list yet but that's why I'm here. As for the CPU, RAM, and PSU I'm totally undecided. I've seen a lot of recommendations to just go with the cheapest CPU that will fit the socket and something similar for the RAM. On this particular motherboard I didn't think I'd need more than a single beefy power supply, but again I'm uncertain since I've yet to even pick out all the parts. Since I already purchased the cards I'm hoping to get some insight on how to best build around them.

Monero was already dominated by botnets and now with browser javascript miner there's no way individual miners will be able to compete.

I found a updated list of coins that are mined best with cpu's gonna Do it for the hell of it and i got nothing better to do.

Should I concern myself with getting any more than 4gb of ram? How about ram timing and frequency? I've seen people say that you want "X" amount of system ram per video card and that timing and frequency can be important or irrelevant depending on what you're mining but that information was from 2015 and further back.

Cheapest CPU, low to mid range RAM 4GB. USB 3.0 Flash drive is your hard disk, 16gb min, 32gb recommended

What other CPU coins are better to mine?

Best for Monero, Aeon, Zcash, Ethereum Classic & Ethereum Mining Rig with Best Supported Hardware:
Why you posting the same sh..t in every topic ? (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1103073;sa=showPosts) Did you lost your mind ?  ;D or you can not do anything on your keyboard just paste and copy ?

Oh i see now :) this is the only way you can get some activity points  ;D

I would not consider your hardware recommendation for " BEST " of any way :)
