Title: New Bitcoin Fork: BitcoinGold. GPU Mining
Post by: Geenstijl on September 27, 2017, 08:31:58 AM
Here some information about BitcoinGold project which plans to be forked 25 October. The main aim is to make bitcoin decentralized as it should be. Mining algorithm is equihash (like at ZEC).

Official site: http://btcgpu.org/

I've just heard the news and make this post here. I'm not related to this project.

Will they be success? Let's share opinions.

Due to mining profit reducing last few weeks this fork could be successful just like Bitcoin Cash. There will be many supporters with GPU rigs around if their profitability would be more than current.

Guaranteed this fork fails. Bitcoin is both cash and gold... why do we need 3 separate currencies, one for cash and gold when Bitcoin already serves all of these purposes?

Just another senseless fork. It has no real long term value because it brings nothing new to the table. Equihash is not a bright enough idea to avoid centralization of hashrate. I believe Bitcoin will have a hardfork long term with multi randomized algo changes that will avoid miners from stacking ASIC machines.

Dump this fork when you get the coins.

It's stupid to see miners already planning to switch to this new forked coin for quick and extra profit. Just like what happened in august with bitcoin cash. I guess we're going to experience long transaction times again.

What is the benefit of this over Bitcoin Cash? Just easier to mine?

The positive thing is that the bitcoin holders will receive a new Bitcoin Gold coin in their digital wallets on the day of the next hard fork. Will this coin be useful, time will tell. If not, she will die, as many altcoys are doing now.

Things like this are very eagerly awaited by miners. because all this time can only mine coin that price is not too high. probably the most frequent in the mine ie ETH.

There is no sense in this fork at all except mining. Anyways I don't think it would be some kind of top-50 altcoins. But before 1st August everybody has told the same about bitcoin cash and it's top-5 coin for now. Unexpectedly! :)

i am confused why hardfork can happen, can anybody give the reason? yesterday just happened hardfork and gave birth to bitcoin cash.
what do you think if this hardfork happens later, what is your hope? will the btc price be up or down?

If bitcoin gold does have good marketing strategy I suppose the btc price behaviour will be just the same as before 1st August hardfork.

I don't know why these people are creating coin as related to bitcoin and giving them as free. What are the exact benefits are they going to get, really I think it is going to be very exciting for Bitcoin holders but not for all.

this is obviously another shitcoin that is going to be abusing the bitcoin brand to its own advantage and to become a pumped up coin. i don't keep high hopes for this one either although i have been hearing a lot of hype regarding this. so it can be possible to a big rise and a very nice pump to this coin but in the end there will be no real usage for this except to mine and dump and pump and dump.

Title: Re: New Bitcoin Fork: BitcoinGold. GPU Mining
Post by: BitcoinHodler on September 28, 2017, 11:14:53 AM
i think this can actually be a very interesting new altcoin only because of its way of mining.

you see in a short while ETH mining will die for good. then inevitably ETC will also follow. that means a huge mining community with a lot of hashrate will be left behind with nothing to mine and make the same profit. there are of course other altcoins but with not the same profit as the pumped up ETH used to give them.

this new coin is a good option for GPU mining and it is even in its name! that makes it a good option for them and collectively it can be pumped bigger than ETH even.

No detailed info. No whitepaper. This coin will be listed in Yobit as usual. There is no place in Bittrex for this coin.
We already have too many forked coins and all of them used to pump -dump and other things but not for investment and daily usage.
i will not mine this coin for sure

And now another shit coin that tried to steal the popularity and demand from the bitcoin again just like a crap bitcoin cash. But if this will be another fork for bitcoin and that looks terrible, I was expecting every year there will be the new forked shitcoin from bitcoin. This just a crap.

One the reasons why Bitcoin doesn't have a future. A pack of charlatans will get to do this every quarter and make billions of naive cretins who will buy it, in hope "to daaaa MOOOnnnnn yeahhayy". Idiots! Stop with this forking nonsense. I don't give a shit about miners, go mine something else, basement dwellers!

it is not yet released and there is 25 days left to the deadline they have given.
the Code is already ready and available on Github if you like to take a look at it and see what are the differences between this and bitcoin.

i don't think it will be a Yobit shit coin but at the same time it won't be anything really useful either. as i said above my speculation is that because of mining this can potentially turn into a nice pumped altcoin.

Okay, so there's nothing to be afraid of hardfork events later on. Is there a particular mission from appearing this bitgold?
But I'm sure bitgold will be the same as bitcoin cash whose price is far below bitcoin.

Dude they just named it like that for identification. Bitcoin cash was not backed up by anything nor cash. It is just term for new coins that would be made out of bitcoin by the management of blockchain.

i like this thign because it promote gpu mining and not stupid asic, but i think the value will not be higher than the bitcoin cash couterpart, and i don't like equihash as main algo, it's very minable by fpga and can be mined by asic in the future if bitcoingold become big enough

you wait until the new altcoin is listed on some exchange, then if you don't already have an account in those exchanges you sign up and deposit some money/bitcoin to buy that altcoin.

what the price will be depends on the demand. it is impossible to give any opinion right now. it can be anything from 1000 satoshi up to 0.1 bitcoin.

ah, this changes things a little.
if there were no premine crap like this, i could have seen this coin to be a nice option for pump and dumps and consequently as a good option for mining too. but depending on what they are going to do with that huge amount of premine things can go different ways.

In my opinion, the price of new BitcoinGold not high like Bitcoin Cash.
What do you think about a chance airdrop free a huge money can repeat in a short time (only 3 months)?

Any fork is pretty useful for the market. It is some kind of quantitative easing, which used in classic economics in order to lower interest rates and increase the money supply.

The era of hardforking BTC has begun. I expect to see multiple hard forks over the next handful of quarters, just a way to try and make some free dough. Its like, "Hey! holders of BTC get a bonus!" The good thing is right after the fork, holders of BTCG will dump their coin and use that free money to invest into altcoin. There will be a nice alt pump afterwards.

It would be just another shitcoin like bitcoin cash.We clearly know that only big whales got huge profits by pumping and dumping BCH and some people who had store their bitcoins in bittrex exchange which supported the BCH and got some extra cash.

Frequent hard forks are not good for the reputation of bitcoin and it may create an uncertainty among new investors about bitcoin.

Just some people want to make some quick cash and doing such hard forks and they totally forget the benefits which they got from bitcoins.

When Bitcoin Cash came out, we already saw something happening. Miners switching hashrate to mine profitable coin, then switching back to Bitcoin whose difficulty rate actually dropped for the first time in ages. Now with Bitcoin GOld AND GPU mining, we can expect to see the same patterns with even bigger profitability, depending on how it performs on exchanges of course. And with Ethereum fork coming, a lot of homeless miners...

The main goal of BitcoinGold (BTG) is to become a beter reserve of value. The best way, choose to achive this, is to centralize the Btc mining, changing the (proof-of-wor) algoritme. To reach that, there is a need of an hard fork, implement the new BTG algoritme. Equihash was the one choose for this, doe to his strong ASICs resistance. Equihash is also the algoritme used on the alt-coin Zcash.

Amazing how the speculation of GOLD has increased the price of BITCOIN. All as a result of "free" BTH, before that fork everyone was selling their Bitcoins for fear they may loose them all.

I dont see GOLD going anywhere. It maydo if it gets listed by the big exchanges....but for how long?

How to get Bitcoin Gold? Is it the same as Bitcoin Cash wherein if you have 1 Bitcoin you will get 1 Bitcoin Cash? What exchange sites and wallet providers support it? I think it is just another scheme plotted by those whales to get another FREE Money. They are just making a reason to earn more from what they already have without sweating a shit!

i think BTG is a quick pump and dump.

People will get it for free, see it pump and sell it.

Personally i'd do the same and put the money back into Bitcoin.

Title: Re: New Bitcoin Fork: BitcoinGold. GPU Mining

Bitcoin is already being "centralized" by miners from China. What miners want is ASIC resistant coin that can create value, not the other way round. You can see there are a number of potential for BTG fork. Lots of miners will jump in and mine BTG due to it's decentralized factor.
