This is great news for bitcoin after China banned trade on cryptos. But for how long is the EU gonna give free passes?

They wil follow Assian countries banning bitcoin actually.

It's likely for them to ban bitcoin following months, around late 2018 maybe. I don't thin this will continue like that forever in Europen zone.

Better question(s):

How long did the Chinese "ban" last? (answer: not long)

How effective would the ban have been? (answer: not very)

What can the EU actually ever do? (it's nothing)

I don't see any Asian countries who can ban Bitcoin in coming days amd anyways bitcoin getting banned from a particular country will not take down bitcoin to zero it can only affect bitcoin prices for a short period of time. As we are seeing China's ban didn't effect that much it was only for some days and it is recovering again.

Exactly.

It may be that Draghi has come to the realization that there's not much he can do to make Bitcoin really go away.

The longer the waiting time, the more difficult it gets. In my opinion, Bitcoin is already unstoppable - any attempt of a country (or supernational entity) to ban it would be free marketing for Bitcoin in more liberal countries.
