If you send ERC20 token to another ethereum address and the wallet doesn't support ERC20 tokens you will just see nothing. But, instead, these tokens will be belong to that address and, for example, if you import secret key of that address to the wallet that supports ERC20 tokens (for instance myetherwallet) you will be able to see and manage them.

So Guys because im new to this bitcoin i want to know, what will happen if you send a token to a wallet that is not supported in that wallet?

Very easy answer, your token must be lost. From my experience was ever lost because the wallet received does not support alt which I send.
So you send what and send where?

You need to go to https://ethplorer.io/ and explore about your token and its decimals.
All other necessary information you can find directly on the website of MyEtherWallet (MEW), e.g. https://myetherwallet.groovehq.com/knowledge_base/topics/how-to-see-a-new-token-in-myetherwallet .
Any additional questions could be searched on the same website or addressed to the MEW community.

Using a UTC file strengthened by a strong password is the best way ever to secure our wallets when using MEW instead of the private key. About tokens, it's easy to add a custom token to your ether wallet by provide the address of the new asset, its decimal and the name abbreviation. All those details can be easily found at https://ethplorer.io/ for any Erc20 token. New tokens are not shown in your wallet at MEW but when scanning it (address) at https://etherscan.io/ you can see all the tokens held in it; it is important to add each token details at MEW to be able to see and manage it. There are a lot of tutorials that can help noobs and many many articles about beginning with Ethereum. Just google it  8)

Hi to all the readers at this section,

My friend was a newbie at altcoin and I have a concern about what happened in his situation in the campaign but before that let me tell you a story: he doesn't get the mechanics in altcoin but, at first i told him the two wallet he can use waveswallet and myetherwallet which can be used storing a ethereum coin,the campaign was ethereum base, as i teaching my friend he do mistake about the campaign, Aventus campaign who is erc20 token, my friend does wrong in submitting a ethereum address instead of using myetherwallet he use the waveswallet ( because he does know that waveswallet doesn't support other token that erc20) and get the ethereum address there which mean he lost all the coin..

in this situation, is there any chance he can get the token back, or will be gone forever ?

As he pm the manager, it said that he must know how to use the ethereum works and looks like no chance of getting it back.

As i talk to him, he is willing to provide all the information needed at this situation like the waveswallet account that used in the campaign to check that this really happened and can't get the token.

Is that really lost? Or it will not send to that address because its not supported?

It depends on what token is involved in your concern. If they are on the same network then the token is still there, it's just that your wallet is not supporting token transfers that's why it doesn't reflecting in the account.


It was send and the address you used owned those tokens. But like I said, because it's not supported, the tokens are invisible. Want to know more details.

It's like sending cryptocurrencies to the wrong adress. You can try and it'll work, but you won't see it back.

As I know %99 chance that your coins are becoming lost. I am sure there are dozens of people everyday losing their coins. Which is actually very healthy for market prices. lol. It is truth.

Yes i already checked and i think its already confirmed that i cant have it, but i already move on and i learned a lot for the next time.
