it depends what coins you save, if you keep the coins that are included into the top 10 coin in the coinmarket then my advice you should save.
If the coins you have today are beyond the top 10 coinmarket then it is better to sell it.

which altcoin?!
you know they don't move all together. most of the times when bitcoin price is moving big all the altcoins get dumped but their recovery only happens if someone starts pumping them.

so in order to tell you whether to "hold or cut lose" we need to know which altcoin you are talking about.

p.s. try looking in altcoin speculation board: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=224.0

There are dozens of altcoins I don't how can you talk about every other. I can give you clear examples. To me sonm is definitely hold. Matchpool is cut loss.
Cause I believe in sonm but not believe in matchpool.

Which one?
If its one of major coins, then hodl for sure, if its not, well, the choice is yours.
But if you're not confident enough, then cl it. It might be best that if its down like crazy to sell it, then buy back at dips.
But remember, you need to do your own research first before deciding what to do.

Obviously it depends on which coins you hodl.

I have some coin balances that gained a lot in BTC even during the last crash (mostly because I day traded half the balance).

We've been seeing rapid growth on most of the popular altcoins yearly. Bitcoin's price increased from nothing in 2009 to 40$ in 2013 and 4000$ in 2017.

It depends on the coins you have. Make some research first, if your coins has a good reviews and a very achievable roadmap, I suggest you HODL it and wait till the value increase. If you think that the coin you have is not worth it, better sell it. Do some research. Read a lot on this forum. Follow crypto related sites wherein you can read news about current events on the crypto market.

Coin with new concept/approach have risen to success.
Coin like Ethereum and Monero got a lot of coverage, early investor became rich, late investors too profited.
But coins with nothing in them never got a value even no compensation for the electricity for mining.

Every altcoin have his own way of development. It is true that strong changes of Bitcoin price have influence on all market, but before any investment or closing investment you have to make research about project progress. Many times price of altcoin (especially when volume is low) thats only speculation and in short time (for example after developers announcement) is going up or down very strong.

i assume the op is talking about altcoins in general? and i am not so sure about the terminology of -cutloose- i think if china regulate properly the ico and maybe other countries follow the altcoin trend may grow positively with proper non scam coins. as for the top 10 altcoins like ethereum, dash, monero, litecoin, zcash, bitcoincash these are -healthy- coins and when bitcoin starts to grow again so will these

I think OP by saying "cutlose" want ask about selling with loss, so it should be written "cutloss"
China for sure is a huge market, but traders can move to other exchanges very quick. I am not afraid of what is happening in China.

If you hold coin you believe in, and you're playing long term I don't see any reason to sell.
I keep holding my altcoin, even if the average price is going down I think bigger ;)

I think if your coins are at the cheapest price then dithan first because in the future we do not know what happens clearly from day to day the price will go up, but if you are in doubt about it and the price of your good coin mending saved only by selling it at the best of the coin itself. Good luck.

Basically, every altcoin that you bought in June was too expensive and won't come back to their price for a long time.

If you are holding valuable alt coins so hold for long time. But if you are holding shit coins cut the lose and sell them all
For major altcoins holding is patience and patience means profit.

The trend will be up for some and down for some, obviously.
I would say in general hold promising coins with good dev teams.

good coins will pump, like kyber, scams will dump, like the other, some coins may pump by manipulating, and this depands on the team, so its really important to choose a team

better to assess the coin that you have cut loses are part of your strategy if you really got trapped inside the exchange, as I look around here most of the
good traders always do long term hold and they really succeed that's what I wanted doing the same thing to be successful.

Depends on the coin, but most of the alt coin only good to be keep as a short term investment, and the value will gradually go down, but if your coin on top 10 or top 15 then perhaps its good idea to keep, for alt coin you need to be flexible, observe the situation and make a quick move
