Title: What alerts(notifications) could be useful?
Post by: jeff_sig on September 29, 2017, 10:57:19 AM
What alerts or notifications do you think would be useful? Most common i would think of are Price change threshlods, price change percentages.
And do you know of any websites that provide such?

You have two options I believe: CoinWink.com (Free, SMS and email) & Coindera.com (Free with limits or unlimited with Paid version, SMS, Email & push notification to iOS and android).
The first site could only detect a price increase or decrease while the second one detect also the volumes, that's helpful to predict a price increase before it happens for example. (something that does the similar thing is CryptoPing which is an intelligent BOT for predicting price increase but It's paid)

stop loss is what comes to my mind right now.
it is when what you have bought goes below certain price level. it is usually a percentage-wise number. it shows the loss tolerance you want to show in an investment like 5% or 10% loss then sell.
usually the good exchanges have that option to place things like this.

if you just want them to let you know price is at X then these are the options i know of:
http://alertco.in/
https://www.coindera.com/
https://coinwink.com/

also take a look at this topic:

One feature I think would be very useful and I'm surprised exchanges don't yet have (I've only really used bittrex and maybe I just missed it) is the ability to get an email or message alert when one of your orders fills. Quite often when day trading it is important to know the instant your trade fills so you can establish if it was because the coin is dumping and you should settle for a small loss, or if it is as planned and you can list it at the higher price.

Coinwink has really been very helpful with the price alerts so many times and has always helped me in making good decisions without missing chances on dips of any coin in my portfolio. What I always do is finding a certain coin with great support, knowing that even at dips, they will definitely spring back based on previous charts. With that, I look forward to those dips and buy at that position and even buy more if it goes lesser.

It's too risky to set an alarm for trade, because the alarms sometimes do not work, I've already downloaded many applications on the phone, I can not find the application I dreamed of.

Best would be if you can track "breaking news". Maybe if a bitcoin reddit posts gets x amount of upvotes in y timeframe... 8)

Download an app on your phone called "Bitcoin Ticker Widget." One of the best mobile apps to monitor.

As for monitoring price changes, your charts should be from Trading View, Coinigy, or https://cryptowat.ch/ Which all have built in "alarms" for price thresholds.

Here's an example from Bitfinex that uses Trading View. See that "Alert"?

You can use Blockfolio since It can alert you whenever what price you set for your coins on and also you can try to use the Trackr app since it's quite new and decent app to used interms of this alerts. And you can used as many as you want so that you could see the real time score of the coins you have been hold for the longest time here.

Even in CoinDesk also you can do the same with the desktop notification. Nowadays normally most the site provides the desktop notification to monitor price dashboard changes and important updates about technical and financial updation.
Go with the way by looking your platform you have invested. That will help you for sure with the on time information.

I am currently using blockfolio for both portfolio management and price alerts. They also provide 24 hour price change for every coin in terms of both bitcoin & USD also they have charts for every coin which is quite useful. You can also set alerts when price will go below or above some point, I set those alerts to get instant notification when my buy/sell orders will be executed on the market.
