what will happen to the price when they fork it ?
2 possibilities upward movement or downward movement,
to be honest it's very hard to predict what will happen, because if you remembered it when we're facing the chain split back then.
many people predicted we will see a 'huge' downward movement, but in reality ? it's not right ?
from that point i start to not believe the 'prophecy' and always choose the opposite side.
which mean when people shilling about 'something',i will dump it.
but when people fudding it,i will buy it.
cryptocurrency market is unpredictable and the best way to make your action is by reading their sentiment

The price of bitcoin should being increase after the second of bitcoin's hard fork on November because it is part of fixing the scaling problem in bitcoin of course if the second of bitcoin's hard fork be successfull and be supported by all of the miners and comunity, but if the bitcoin's hard fork is fail the bitcoin's price will goes down and the comunity will be split like bitcoin cash right now.

I do not think "bitcoin gold" is going to have any kind of effect on bitcoin. and it should not have any effects anyways because it is completely changing bitcoin to a new mining algorithm to make it GPU mineable. we do not even know who is going to be behind the code.

to this day I can tell you that everything about Bitcoin Gold seems like a shitcoin that just copy pasted bitcoin code and changed a couple of basic stuff to get the new version.

oh and by the way there is a HUGE Pre-Mine for bitcoin gold. if you think a premined altcoin can even compete or affect bitcoin then you don't know nothing about this space ;)

But I think people is enough for the happenings of bcc since that token splitted up already the investors of both token and I don't know if bitcoin gold will be supported again or it will get more price since there are so many bitcoin clone already and that bitcoin gold will be dumped by the receiver on this upcoming hardfork. But maybe who knows maybe the bcc supporters will be split on this and not the real bitcoin supporters.

There's actually two forks in question here. The Gold hard fork is slated for October last I heard. It's a spinoff fork like Bitcoin Cash and will have replay protection. I think it will have minimal effect on the market -- same as Bitcoin Cash. People attribute the price rise to the fork, but it was actually due to BIP91 signalling and lock-in, which ended all market uncertainty around the potential BIP148 split.

That brings me to the second fork. Unless things drastically change (with Segwit2x backers backing out of the deal), there will be a lot of uncertainty heading into the fork in November. In that case, I definitely expect a dip.

I have read about it from several news sites and on twitter and most professional are saying that if this hardfork success it will be governments taking over bitcoin and there is alot of recommendation that this should not be allowed to take place. Price may go up but in the long run bitcoin may fell in the hands of evil momentary manipulations that will lead to the objective of satoshi will be defeated.

I don't think that it can significantly put a dent on the market. This is another clone and we all know that the original is still considered the best. So for me I doubt that that price could plummet down. Just look at how the split happen in August. Almost everyone is saying that bitcoin would die and BCC will be the new king of crypto, however it didn't happen. So just stay calm and just hodl on the "original".

Just to clarify, "Bitcoin gold" is entirely irrelevant.  If I remember correctly from seeing the website a while ago, that website used to be a clone of BitcoinABC's website to which they added some dodgy-looking information about an ICO.  Since then, they've removed it and now have a website of basically nothing.

However, there is a relevant hard fork happening in November, which is the SegWit2x hard fork.  You should definitely be distinguishing between that and "Bitcoin Gold".

SegWit2x will most likely result in the price falling due to the uncertainty and the split of merchant and exchange support for each chain.

I think so too and before we listen to the rumors spread by the people about bitcoin gold it is must to have a look at the Bitcoin Cash. Bitcoin Cash according to the people was supposed to take the place of bitcoin, even some people said that miners will choose bitcoin cash and will leave mining bitcoin. Today we know it very well where is bitcoin standing.  :)
This is a valuable opinion to stay calm and hold if you see any sort of uncertainty in the market. The result of BCC is the best example for those who create hype about Bitcoin Gold.  ;)

Just another option to have some free money from the forked coin. Definitely it wont succeed wont even get close to bitcoin.
I agree with some poster that the only thing that matters this fall - November SegWit, that can become a cause for significant price fluctuations.

I am very much positive in this aspect just like you. I think that now coming days will bring some good news for all of us especially those who are actually dealing with Bitcoins. There is hardly any reason to deny this fact that the market price of Bitcoin will increase tremendously by the end of this year. We just need to wait and watch.

here's a good reason: the potential contentious hard fork and chain split that may occur in < 2 months. i'd like to think that the whole thing will be called off, but the segwit2x fork is backed by a supermajority of hashpower, and big industry players (exchanges, wallets, payment processors) like bitflyer, coinbase, blockchain.info, shapeshift.io, bitpay and others.

if there is a split from core nodes and two chains emerge, especially with no replay protection, that could lead to major market confusion and network disruption. chaos could ensue and investors could be scared off. and in the run-up to the fork, there will a lot of uncertainty about what might happen. so people can probably be expected to sell in anticipation.

I don't think it will be big affect for the price of bitcoin this coming november but i feel that we will see a little bit effect for the price and i think the price would be decrease but after that we will see the improvement and increase the value of bitcoin back..
So i think much better to not to be worry because it can cause of panic selling if you  willing to make a good profit. .
Better to stay holding bitcoin or sell now but buy bitcoin soon if the price is really cheap because the price of  bitcoin can be burst increase and you will be wasted to make profit.

Can anyone explain to me why there is going to be another fork? i understand that this one is to fix some problems that there are left on bitcoin technology, but i dont understand why it has to be 3 months later of the first fork. Regarding to the price, we all know that we had a successfull fork lately, and it was like free money because we all received our bitcoin cash equal to our bitcoin, so it was free.
Anyway, i still have my thoughs about it, i will mark this thread so i can read in a few minutes later

maybe price will fall down to 3k$. then hard fork complete. bitcoin price will go up to over 5 or 6 k maybe. bitcoin cash (200$) bitcoin gold ( 500-700$)

The result could be similar to as what happened to Bitcoin cash. Bitcoin cash was forked from Bitcoin and then became just another altcoin, so may be bitcoin could become another altcoin as well. The price increment in bitcoin was remarkable after the hard fork and if the same thing happened again then that would be a great opportunity for people to increase their capital. I personally think that if there would be free equivalent amount of Bitcoin gold given then there would be an increase in Bitcoin's price after the hard fork.

The posibility of supporters for the new blockchain of bitcoin always be available, because it is digital world, it is decentralize. Every single persons in digital coins ( the miners, investors, developers) can makes choice base on their analysis about the coins without any coercion from any party, of course with the risk must be taken. We just can wait what's will be done by the comunity of bitcoin about this bitcoin hard fork.

Interest would really be there since people do have different mind sets and interest on any possible new coins that would pop out.If we do try to look on the situation of Bitcoin Cash as of now we can see there is still support even though some people do say that it is a complete trash or without any potential. People would really jump into new things as long they can able to make money and now on this upcoming fork again on bitcoin its expected it would really repeat on those times on what happen on august 1 event which price would really dip down again.

We saw the first hard fork where bitcoins increased by almost 50%. So now I will not think that it will fall. In fact, the hard fork is great because our bitcoins work faster. And as I read it will bring great development especially to the transaction fee that is very large today. When it is finished it is likely that the price of bitcoins will increase.

haha, the bitcoin cash result is the funniest of all.
they hyped it all up and did all they could to fool some people into believing bitcoin cash is the real bitcoin, some of them still believe it too. they even manipulated mining with their difficulty adjustment crap and pumped the coin as much as they could. but it is now DEAD.
go take a look at last 1000 blocks, they are all EMPTY. nobody uses it anymore.

Bitcoin is currently going up and as usual we would expect a serious pump this time as the whales will like to take profit using the hardfork issue. I think and buy into the opinion of many who are saying the hardfork will fail as this November hardfork if allowed will lead to the government's taking over of bitcoin. Currently we are having positive comments from governments about bitcoin and it may be an idea to really get into bitcoin.

Just come to think of it, since inception bitcoin already surpasses those big FUDS and erase such negative speculations about an incoming event like for example the the recent BCH subject and China's policy. Now another fork is coming so just let it in because it will really happened.

No need for such accurate predictions as reference on our future actions since if we are talking about long term, surely bitcoin will able to repeat the history. We have reasons to believe on that and not just being an optimistic. If you are still not sure about what will happened, then place yourself in 2 situations, price will be lowered and price will increased more and make a plan on how to deal with these two if one of them happened. No one knows what will happened so better be ready as always.

The possibility of bitcoin prices in November will increase because the evaluation is run for the second time so that if the price down will make a disappointment for an investment and bitcoiners who continue to seek the highest income.

I am not worried about the price drop. My concern is the hardfork status. If the hardfork is buggy we are all in the trouble of having a corrupted crypto currency. Or we could have a successful hardfork but rumors of failed hardfork or exploitable blockchain can make btc dump again.

Its really hard to predict what would be the price movement. Look at the Aug. 1 split, people says that bitcoin will go down and their would be a huge market price. But the opposite happened, instead of a price dip, the price rose exponentially and even touch $3000. So I'm expecting that the same could happen in the looming fork. A lot of uncertainties, doubt and everything, but at the end of day, bitcoin surges ahead.

The possibility of bitcoin prices in November will increase because the evaluation is run for the second time so that if the price down will make a disappointment for an investment and bitcoiners who continue to seek the highest income.

LOL. If you are not here for the long term, surely you will be disappointed. However, as traders, you should know that the market is not always bullish. There will come a time that the price could go down and it is a potential loss on your end. However, historical chart says that bitcoin will always recovered soon.

Exactly true, its not the price drop that should be peoples concern. Even there will be speculation which will confuse many. The price will surely get a dip whether it is successful or not. Ya now if its fail it will be a tough situation, possibility of network issues and various disruptions is surely possible. Hope it get smoother as the previous fork.

There will be chaos because there is no proper consensus to the fork until now. There is no clear indication whether the fork will take place or not. There are different views from different groups. I hope there won't be any splitting. But when it comes to price, just like earlier bitcoin cash fork, price will jump back and that won't be of much concern. There are always some panic sellers ready to tolerate loss and they will drop the price. But that shouldn't bother to long term hodlers.
