Title: Nano Leger S, switch off during not yet confirmed?
Post by: Agraoleom on September 30, 2017, 04:25:57 PM
1. Just bought a Nano Ledger S, transferred some bitcoins, it reached the wallet, but transaction not yet confirmed, can I unplug Nano Ledger S now, or does it transaction need to be confirmed before I unplug it?

2. When is the proper time to switch off Nano Ledger S, is there something special I need to do before switching off?

3. How many bitcoins can I hold in the Nano Ledger before it gets full?

Once the transaction is sent, there is nothing else to do, so you can close your wallet. The is no limit to how many bitcoins your wallet can hold.

I have never tried a nano wallet, but my friend did not experience interference with the wallet, I think it might be possible. you can try to do it.

1. Unplug it whenever you want and your Bitcoins will be there the next time your plug it in.
2. There's no bad time to switch it off. Do it whenever you want.
3. It doesn't get full, you can hold as many Bitcoins as you want.

To keep it short: You are not really storing your Coins in the Ledger.
You are signing the transactions with your private key which is stored in the ledger.
So, it does not matter when you switched it off before the 6th confirmation.
You are just using it if you make a transaction (send coins to someone) and then you have to sign the transaction.

Was thinking of buying one for myself, thank you for those answers.

Can we keep all the ERC20 tokens and transact them with it.?

According to a quick google search, you can access ERC20 tokens in your Ethereum wallet through MyEtherWallet, or Geth, or Parity. I believe it uses the same Ethereum wallet that's natively supported on the ledger with the tokens, the first-party software just hasn't gotten support for ERC20 tokens yet but it looks like they're planning on adding it.

So to answer your question, yes, just not with the native app.

Thanks for good answers.

As I mentioned in the beginning I just got the Nano Ledger a few days ago. It seems like it supports bitcoin and ethereum only.

I saw some mentioned earlier that ripple can be stored as well, is this true?

What else altcoins can be stored in the new version of the Nano Ledger?

Yes ripple is supported. There are quite a number of supported altcoins such as ETH, LTC, Bitcoin Cash and more.

ok. With all these ICO's these days, have to keep all my ERC20 tokens safely. Hopefully Ledger nano s starts supporting then on their native app. Thank you for the answer.

How do I store other coins on the Nano Ledger as there are only a ledger bitcoin and ledger ethereum wallet apps and no altcoin wallet apps?
