And possibly miss a reopening and the opportunities that come with early access?   I am not willing to risk my money like that.  This is absurd.  I made plans based on the deadline they specified. They keep missing it.  I keep having to avoid doing other fun things (or sleeping) because i'm not sure if MtGox is going to open up while I'm asleep.  What they are doing is simply rude.  I'd accept "next week" if they could deliver it.

I paid 70 bucks to get an earlier flight home because I would have missed it otherwise.  Yesterday I skipped the fucking banquet at the end of the fucking conference I was at.  It is costing me a lot to be here.

[Update June 24 - 02:56 GMT] Pushing until 15:00 GMT.
We have found that balances on some older accounts look significantly incorrect when compared with the old database. At this time we do not know what caused the balances to be off, or how many of the older accounts are affected. We haven't touched the old backend or database, so we're going to import the accounts again once we have found what caused the off-balances.

No money is lost, we still have the records of all transactions that happened prior to the bitcoin sell-off. All funds deposited are still in our bank accounts, and we're going to try and get this resolved by 15:00 GMT.

We look forward to getting everyone trading within an hour of getting users logged in and accessing their accounts.

They reported it wrong. The "money" that changed hands at Mt Gox is just numbers in a database that can be rolled back, in order for the money to actually be "stolen" it'd have to be cashed out, which to the best of our knowledge it wasn't. Aside from the 200-some BTC cashed out by "Kevin" during the $0.01 exchange rate crash no BTC or USD are known (to us anyway) to have left an actual wallet or bank account.

They reported $9 million because the news media consists primarily of pretty but stupid people who are paid to read from a teleprompter paid by the worst researchers that no money will buy (interns).

Someone comes up with some completely unsubstantiated reason why MTGOX is going to take their money and run for the hills and then is countered by someone else's completely unsubstantiated claim that MTGOX has no money whatsoever and then he's countered by someone else's completely unsubstantiated claim that everything will work OK, then someone comes in and threatens a class action lawsuit because MTGOX isn't spending all their time on these forums quelling all this speculation. I was happy to derail this thread. This whole forum has been a fascinating window into the extreme frailty of people's reasoning power. BRB I'm going to go sacrifice one of my testicles so that MTGOX will come back on in 11 hrs and 7 minutes because, you know, the whole world might come crashing down if he doesn't come back on then. Oh, and Bitcoins are going to become the global currency replacing the US dollar, no, wait, they're a massive bubble that will implode and have 0 value.

The problem isn't the time, it is the constant pushing back.  If they would have just said 2 weeks at first, people would have grumbled, but that would have been it.

They keep saying you only get one hour after opening, so everyone has to keep showing up at their deadlines to make sure their buy/sell orders are in place before the market opens.

If they would just change that to 24 hours, people wouldn't be as grouchy.

Seconded. It there is even a tiny chance that prices swing, I want to make sure I'm there. If they gave 24 hours, there would be less chance of big swings and I'd be able to put in my orders ahead of time.

They are definitely working on the site - the JavaScript part of the page was just modified!

I've been sitting at my computer for 45 freaking minutes waiting for some update as to what is going to happen. This is no longer just about having access to the site and trade. MtGox's complete and utter inability to communicate and manage expectations has become an imposition on my time. Totally and completely f*cking inexcusable.
