Title: How to become a blockchain developer
Post by: webofunni on October 01, 2017, 11:13:01 AM
Hi,

I am a Linux system administrator and good at that.

I am interested in programming and know basics of programming languages such as Perl, Python, C etc. What is the best method for me to enter into blockchain development. Is there any good websites or books for that ?

There are a couple books about the basics of the blockchain, but it is mostly about doing the research yourself, and learning it yourself.

There's some books on amazon that might be useful to you, https://www.amazon.com/Blockchain-Applications-Hands-Arshdeep-Bahga/dp/0996025553

https://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Bitcoin-Unlocking-Digital-Cryptocurrencies/dp/1449374042

I personally find some of Andreas Antonopoulos e-books pretty good, especially for newbies.

It already is one of the most wanted developers currently.

Salary in the US for a good blockchain developer is between 200-300k a year.

This is currently topic of my interest also and  It'll be really great to have fellow learners while doing it.
I guess starting with basic structuring of blockchain is where we'll have to start, hash tables and merkle trees. Btw I think choice of language and platform will be crucial factor in our learning curve. So keep us posted about your progress.

All you have to do is join Github and start making code commits there. If you are good enough, you can get on the Bitcoin Core mailinglist and help out there. Thing is, you have to be fucking magical at coding.

Be a full-stack developer to begin with (front-end and back-end), and then move on to learn about blockchain platforms such as Ethereum, Ripple, and EOS.

Which programming language is needed for this?

I've always want to get involve with a team being part of the development but I don't have any coding skills, am I going to be considered a blockchain developer if I just participate being a marketing pro of the blockchain team?

Blockchain developers are now hot cakes in this system,at the initial stage of this network, they were not sought after that much but as the network grew beyond reasonable doubt, thus their skills are needed to keep the network up to pace with its growing levels
It's not that easy to be one as going through those links without having the innate ability or skills could rather be a waste of time
