Title: Price recovery after the big cash-out (big price drop on Sunday morning)
Post by: stoto on June 02, 2013, 05:24:37 PM
I hope, we have reached the bottom, at least the chart tells me that. Any guesses how much time it will take to recover?

Don't worry, Monday is coming. Some people don't trade in weekends. The huge Panic Sell is coming. Mark my words.

Looks like you were right about the Monday panic sell, it's only 9am but it's starting.

Evening will be a good time to by more coins? :)

Doubt the bottom is here, but it's not far off; there are plenty of buyers.

As far as I can see, there are a few panic sellers, and many more buyers buying small amounts all the way down.

I think they (the buyers) have a good strategy.

Yesterday i received this from my trader friend, so much truth in it:

I'm running an exchange, I'm just saying what I'm seeing. :-)

Anyway the point here is that it's impossible to call the bottom -- so buying on the way down and selling a little on the way up makes sense.

Cest' la vie. Bitcoin rises, Bitcoin falls. And we all speculate. :-)

Think thats the issue, aside from some manipulation over the weekend the volume has been quite low. ie no one to push the price back up following the drop.

No one wants to use MtGox anymore so they're just waiting for a new exchange to pop up.

I am sorry but BTC is speculative... there aren't many traders, who's business is to make money to not trade BTC because of MtGox... Well at least just on that single merit, more likely would be the bad news with Dwolla, Okpay...  How about the shutdown and problems many exchanges have had...  Sure some people may be waiting for better exchanges, but most probably just are passing and will come back if there is more news/hype (positive that is).

Heck I trust my money 10x more on MtGox then on ANY new exchange unless deposits were FDIC secured.  Bitfloor is just the most recent example... poof money gone... At least with MtGox you just have lag, your money is still there when its over.

I personally think the corrections/crashes and bad news lately just scared away the big fish and a lot of monies supposedly in the pipe.  Some may be holding long term, others could be looking for an exit like the one on Sunday.

Do you know www.bitstamp.net ?

I used to trade there before and now (after) mtgox.
