Title: Altcoin bashing and flaming consolidation thread
Post by: kaputt on June 03, 2013, 03:35:51 PM
When I first became interested in bitcoins and mining them, almost 100% of the people that I conversed with about them said they were a scam, weren't real and had no value. I supported bitcoins, because I saw the merit and potential in them, even though you couldn't “do” anything with them. It was frustrating, because it was hard to get information about bitcoins. Most of what I read on the Internet was just a repeat of the same ol' FUD.

When the early altcoins, including litecoins, came out, it was the same thing. Bitcoin adopters said that litecoins were a scam and worthless. Things are different now that bitcoins and litecoins are established, and yet still the same in terms of the bashing of new crypto currencies. The hate toward any new *coin that comes out is spread all over muliple treads without adding any useful, on-topic information. When trying to get useful information in a thread, one has to filter through all of the altcoin bashing and altcoin supporter flaming. We get it. There are still people that think enjoying something new is pointless. Even after the money we made mining bitcoins paid off so well for us, there are still people out there that think we are stupid for continuing to supplement our income by adopting new altcoins. We don't need so many threads derailed by the same off-topic comments repeated over and over again.

The good news is, there is a great solution. Consolidate all of the altcoin bashing and flaming into this thread. I'll list just a few benefits.

1. Members searching for information about why altcoins and their adopters are stupid won't have to read through so many threads full of information that is not useful to them. It will all be in this thread.
2. Members who are already aware of the fact that altcoins and their adopters are ridiculed won't have to read about it repeatedly in other threads. They will be able to read on-topic information.
3. Members who wish to become Hero Members can simply get into flaming matches here. Why reinvent the wheel. Just increase your post count the way some of the Hero Members have.
4. When a member makes an altcoin bashing post in the wrong thread, other members can politely direct them to this thread, so that they can post it in the appropriate thread.

Let the altcoin bashing begin. Who wants to be first?

Dibs on being first!

*Soapbox*

95% of altchains are garbage, yet people invest in them anyways because they're chasing the get-rich-quick mindset put forward by Bitcoin's and Litecoin's dramatic price increases. The 5% that are not crap get buried under the garbage that floods this subforum. We can argue that, "THE FREE MARKET WILL SORT IT OUT" till we're blue in the face, but the fact remains that there's a huge load of garbage being generated...and it hurts the credibility of existing coins.

lol. That doesn't count. I don't see any bashing. Your comment isn't even hateful.

The magic of the "edit" button will fix that shortly.

Stop releasing shitcoins without both clients available unless you want your coin to die before it's born

Better yet, don't start one.  And don't build them for programmers who are too stupid to do so.

Wait. I agree with this. Even though I compile from source, for so many obvious reasons, a good launch should include *coind and the GUI for at least Windows, Linux and Mac.
