Title: 1.7G / 3.4G FPGA - Selling
Post by: absente on June 03, 2013, 03:52:52 PM
Please don't make this thread into a discussion on wherever fpga is okay or not, I saw some demand and that's why I am posting this thread.
Prices are FOB China (Chongqing).

1.7G: 11BTC
3.4G: 19BTC

Lancelot, with the latest firmware from ngzhang (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=79835.0) - Please refer to this thread for specs.

I am receiving my order tomorrow, ( 10x 1.7G & 6x 3.4G ). Shipment within 48 hours. Please handle customs if you live outside of China before
making a purchase or inquiring.

I am selling them on a first come first serve basis, and I will publish them at the same price tomorrow at some Chinese websites.

Alex

PS: For more info, pics, etc please write in this thread.

I am not sure about the design though, I am a reseller, not an engineer.
I am willing to send one board to one member with a 4+ rating for free, if that would strengthen my authority & trust. So you can test it, etc.

At that price (11 BTC for 1.7 GH), I believe there is no possible way to make any ROI. I'll pass.

mmm ok thats a lancelot...

how do you get 1.7G from that ?

std spartan 6 lx is what 200mh/s per chip, so your board does what 400mh/s.....

btw you can get lancelots from here too :-

I am not an engineer. As far as I understand they found a way to do some over-clocking combined with the bigger fan.
As soon as I test them I will provide screens. They push it to 420 - 430mh/s per board, so with 4 boards 1.7G is possible.

PS: Yeah, the ROI is always a problem since the beginning of this year ; )

Four core / one unit, expandable. I can get bigger ones too, but for now I am posting those.
For smaller inquiries (units) please send me an email.  More technical info, if requested, on demand.

The custom mining thread is full of posts about Spartan 6 LX150 FPGA boards, and I'm sure that if someone had managed to overclock them to that extent we'd have heard about. You're not dipping them in liquid nitrogen by any chance?

Seriously guys, due diligence here.

Some lancelots can actually do ~420 mhash, needs the latest firmware release by ngzhang, for those boards that can not perform at that rate,  I guess some mod is needed. I saw many lancelots modded and that kinda ruins the board's good looking.

I think that  what blackarrow is doing is making that mod a default setting combined with latest firmware.

rudrigorc2, thanks for the input - yes, it is possible, otherwise they wouldn't be selling like warm bread here in China.

PS: If you agree I can send you a board, and feel free to test it (for free, but if you send it back) ;) The only requirement is to post your testing-data into this thread. I agree that I am a newbie, yet I know that I am selling authentic stock and the numbers are right.

Why not set up a "group buy" situation and maybe everyone saves $$

Well, at 3.4G for 19BTC its priced slightly cheaper than a BlockErupter USB, and possibly has a better resale value for when the difficulty goes through the roof, but the ROI is still the other side of never. But if you're just looking for an untraceable supply of bitcoin to feed into silk road, then a dollar purchase might just make some sense.

I already offered rudrigorc2 a board - If he doesn't want it I can send it to you, sure. I agree to your terms, seems fair enough  :)

I agree on the ROI part - that's why I don't even consider using them (because I buy in cash, not in BTC). Yet if someone saved up some BTC it's okay I guess.
I can quote prices in USD too, since I will be exchanging the BTC anyway.

Yes ROI on these boards is more of a dream. I am only purchasing it to test an new project of mine :) I have not looked up prices on these recently so let me make sure 5btc is in the price range

Thanks for the insight guys! So many people banging down the doors to get in on the eruptor group sales, I felt like i was missing out on something. So if the ROI is just about the same which would be better to have 10 usb erupters or 1 of the 3.4Ghs units? Is there an advantage to resale on the usbs?

No, the resale advantage is with the lancelot as a fpga board will always (for nearterm values of always) be worth at least something (even if just the scrap value of the LX150's). However once the difficulty exceeds the power cost of running the Erupter, its just a piece of junk (with some caveats for repurposing as an alt-coin miner for sha256 based coins, though even that depends on the asic architecture of which I know nothing).

These boards seems to be in short supply!

"This device is not in stock due to low availability of the required parts to manufacture it. Please place the order and do not pay it. We will email you with a payment request when we have the parts to manufacture your order.

Today's guaranteed time of shipment: on or before 27 June 2013"

So by the time you receive it, you'll have lost perhaps half of your expected ROI. Do the math guys.

With a 4 weeks delay, at 15% rise in difficulty per week, ie 16072887 by July 4th

Your profit difference is $600 over a 6 month period. That's about 2 extra boards!

BTW, the break even period is now 212 days vs 153 days, about an extra 2 months!

I posted this in another thread, but its probably worth repeating here (spreading the word). I chose 20% because it makes the math easier, and its as good a guess as any. As for "the rest of eternity", take a look at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zeno's_paradoxes

Quote
Do the math. If difficulty is increasing at 20% per two weeks, after just 8 weeks it will have doubled (1.2*1.2*1.2*1.2 ~ 2.1) So your return halves every eight weeks. In the rest of eternity you will only mine the same amount as you mine in the first eight weeks. It never pays for itself. But plug in your own prediction for the difficulty spiral and see if you like the ROI.

right, with the only difference that there are boards already on the market and they arrive within 7 days anywhere, if you don't have problems with customs.

I've been very busy these days, I will answer to all the mails today, and update my current inventory in this thread.

At 15% difficulty increase every two weeks starting today, 1.7 GH will only ever produce 5.8 BTC with free power.
At 20% difficulty increase every two weeks, the total drops to 4.6 BTC.

If you don't get the board for four weeks, the numbers drop to 4.3 and 3.1 BTC respectively.

IMO, you will never get your initial investment back on these boards!
