Get both and diversify :P Yeah the wait is a bit of a pain but spammers are even more of a problem.

I lurked around for months before feeling the need to post anything, guess I should have made an account when it wasn't needed to take up a username and some server space. =P
I don't think it is bad to have a few measures like this in place, but 4 hours and 5 posts does seem a bit extreme when you just wanted to ask 1 question.

Is the 4 hours limited to the Newbie-section or can I browse the other forums aswell?

Phew, thanks! Would've been a bit heavy to browse >Newbies for 4 hours, since most of the posts and many threads are pretty meaningless. :)
(me writing that is kind of ironic.. whatever)

You can browse freely.

Thanks, I was worried that I had to browse newbies for an entire 4 hours!

The point of the 4 hours is so that new users will browse the other forums, read, learn, get basic questions answered.  If you have a real question feel free to post it in a noob forum topic.  Most regular members browse the noob forum too.  The better articulated the question, and the more it shows you already did at least some reading on your own the more likely you will get a response.

The 4+5 reduces the clutter on the main forums and reduces the number of spam bots which make it out of noob land.

I don't know why everyone's bitching about this... it's really not hard to spend 4 hours over the course of a few days just reading through the many interesting threads here...  ???

Not so sure about the alt currencies, the iterations don't seem substantial enough to warrant resetting adherence.

I like both... Bitcoin because it was the innovator. Litecoin because it hasn't been taken over by ASICs yet, although a little birdie tells me that's about to change shortly.

I think botnets pose a much larger threat to Litecoin than ASICs to Bitcoin.  Botnets are already deployed by unethical players.
