Title: Any options other than retail
Post by: ashcrypto on October 08, 2017, 04:20:25 AM
It would seem to me that bitmain and others are ripping us off. Can we not have better servers built, the dark web etc? HAs anyone had any luck with other options and off the charts hashing power?

An ASIC is a chip, not a server. A modern miner has hundreds of chips.

It costs millions of dollars to develop these chips, and then you need to design the boards and circuits that run them.

At the same time, these are not consumer electronics. They're made for a small percent of a small niche of people. That means many large consumer electronics companies have no desire to serve this market, because they can chase much bigger ones.

If money is no object, Bitfury can design a top of the line mining container for you. But for most of us here, we don't have the capital to design our chips, boards, and fabricate them all.
