Title: too much time for transaction
Post by: Merla on June 03, 2013, 10:46:46 PM
I did a transfer of 0.327 bitcoins almost 12 hours ago, and is not yet confirmed. From 12QqEK62Cr3QwGpHDbmWvYgsmp8ZbBU1ug to 1NsM6HoCnTxhnxfkxPnw1tuSBwRJpwRLgn. Does someone know why? I own both accounts and only 0.0001 fee was paid. Does someone know why? And what do i suppose to do?

Ha, it is very realistically possible that it may never get confirmed.

One of your outputs is below .01, without a proper transaction fee included, the miners will treat it as spam and ignore it.

I just dealt with a very similar issue and resolved it last night.

PM me if you don't get it resolved and I'll do what I can to help.

Bitcoins never actually go anywhere, transactions just change the address they are associated with (the current owner).  Your transaction has put your coins in limbo between addresses.  Your client isn't counting them in your balance and the new address isn't either.

To resolve, you need to delete the transaction from your client and then perform a -rescan.

I used pywallet to delete the transaction in the previously linked thread.

If you've tried following the instructions on my previous thread and still can't get it let me know.

The current recommended fee is at least 0.0001 BTC per kilobyte or fraction thereof. Since your transaction is more than 1 kilobyte and less than 2 kilobytes in size, it should have a fee of at least 0.0002 BTC to make sure that all the nodes relay it and miners confirm it quickly.

Since you opted for a smaller fee of only 0.0001 BTC, your transaction will have to wait for generous peers to relay it and a generous miner to confirm it for you.  This could take hours or days.

In your case, it looks like it finally got confirmed about an hour ago.

Include a more reasonable transaction fee in the future and you won't have this problem.

Yes, finally it got confirmed, without doing anything. Thanks to all. I always learn something new
