Title: ERC20 tokens on Myetherwallet
Post by: CryptoScorpio on October 08, 2017, 10:30:48 AM
Hello all,
I have a question regarding myetherwallet.Recently I joined few airdrops based on Ethereum blockchain.I was expecting to receive coins on my MEW since 2 days. But I didn't receive a single yet. Is this because they are new coins ? Should I add custom tokens on my wallet to receive them?  don't understand how could I receive them. Are they responsible for adding coins directly to my MEW or should I do anything from my side. Can't understand this Ethereum based Coins. Some coins are showing up and I think  we can receive them freely without any hassels. But what aboout this unlisted coins on my MEW wallet.DO I need to add custom or can I receive with out adding too.How can they show up on my wallet. Please answer in detail. Thank you.

of course you must add token first, you ask detail address, token name and decimal token you get it.

If I don't add and I don't get? What if they send the coins before adding custom token by me? where do they go?

you can use https://ethplorer.io to track any incoming transaction in your eth address.
if you want to see your token. you need to add custom tokens
but i want to ask too about this etherium smartcontract.
anyone can fully explain how to sent token from mew?

put add token in my etherwallet is not important thing. if you only want to check your wallet you can check it at https://etherscan.io/address/youraddress (https://etherscan.io/address/youraddress) . the market of most airdrop token appear only on etherdeltha so you do not need to add token if you want trade them.

no you already get it if they sent sometoken to your address but you only can see it if you alredy add that new token or you can track them with https://etherscan.io or Ethplorer.io

To your adress. If you don't add the tokens, you only can't see them. But they are already there. To prove that, go to

https://etherscan.io/

and leave your ETH-adress in the field on the upper right. Than you can see your balance. And with the token-tracker on this page you can see your tokens.

I got that we can see the token on MEW if we add the custom token before receiving from them. Can we able to add the custom token and see the coins on MEW AFTER receiving the coins from them?
If not how can we send the coins to other exchanges?

Yes you can. It doesn't really matter if you add custom token before or after the tokens were sent, you can do it anytime. The thing is the tokens are already in your wallet (if the sender really send it to your address), you just need to add it if it is not yet listed in MEW for you to view your balance and spend it.

The first you must try to check your participation in the airdrop, and does the developer accept you or not. The next step just try to check your wallet in etherscan or ethplorer. if the token already success delivered in your address and that will be appearing in your address.

Even if you don't add custom token, when they send your reward, they receive your tokens in mew. You can see them in explorer. But to transfer them you should add their contract addresses.

You need to customized your MEW to see your tokens. See below customized data that you need.

Contract:
Symbol:
Decimal:

Now, if you received your token and see it in your MEW, you need to register to the exchange that the token will be listed. Then send you tokens to that exchanges. But you need to deposit ETH on your MEW first so that you have gas. Gas is like a fee that you need to pay in bitcoins. If you do not have ETH, then you can't send it to that exchanges.

- Add custom token in MEW
- Start sending and receiving it.

It's all explained above you.

so any transaction need some gas?? how much deposit ETH needed to send a single token transaction??

Well, so we have to fund our wallets with ETH in order to sent our Tokens to the exchanges?

which you need for the first time of course you must have at least 0.010 eth in your address mew, afterwards do not need that number.
cutting for the gas will be made a number of 0.001 eth every time you make the shipment, but currently there is also can not send and require to add its gas, so depending on the need also later.

* anyone might want to add an explanation

yes you need eth because these are used to pay your GAS which will be send to miners to process your transactions in other terms transaction fee  ;)

I see someone told me that gas fees can be reduced from the ethereum when you make the token transaction. If incase they do not have the ethereum and only having the tokens means it will reduce the fees from the tokens you have.
Actually this query asked in the October 2017 not this year too bro. Even query is unable to find the tokens balance in the wallet. If they have the tokens they can check with the eth explorer to find your receive the payment or not bro.

I got that we can see the token on MEW if we add the custom token before receiving from them.
Adding tokens or putting a tokens to add custom means you are putting a token that are not yet listed on such exchanger or wallets you can skip that adding / add custom if you want and also you can only see the tokens that you put on the add custom when the tokens are already on your wallet, it means that you can add a token to add custom after you receive the unlisted tokens
and also you can still see your unlisted tokens on your wallet by Ethplorer or etherscan even if you did not add it to custom, the big difference is that your unlisted token will appear without any symbol attached on it.

you can see whether they were received thanks to etherscan.io. If you see them in your eth address, then you only need to add custom token as per the instructions on mew website: https://myetherwallet.github.io/knowledge-base/send/adding-new-token-and-sending-custom-tokens.html

You need to install the token before making it appear in your MEW wallet. Look for your token and install it appropriately. And you will see it if you receive any of the tokens

you don't need to add custom. tokens received by itself, add custom to your wallet only when you need to transfer them to other wallet or exchange.
You can check tokens received by etherscan or etherplore

go to etherscan.io or ethplorer.io and put your address on search bar and you'll see the transaction of coins in your wallet. if you never receive a coin, maybe you're bamboozled :D it's an airdrop!

i agree i participate in different airdrops, but i still receive there token even you don't add custom the tokens.Maybe your not qualify on that airdrop that's why you don't receive yet. Just wait you'll receive an airdrop token .

How To Add A New Token To  First, navigate to View Wallet Info and then click  on Show All Tokens and make sure the token you want to add isn’t already there. If it’s not, you then need to click on the Tokens (Ethplorer.io) link underneath the token list. Once at ethplorer.io, search for the token you want to add. After finding it, copy its contract address and make note of how many decimal places the coin has. Once you’ve done that, go back to myetherwallet.com and paste in the contract address, the token ticker name (the short name of the coin. For example the ticker of ethereum is ETH), and the number of decimals it uses, hit save, and that’s it! You’ve now added a new ERC20 token to your myethewallet.com address. All that’s left to do is send your ERC20 tokens from your current location to your myetherwallet address.

if you want to send token to market then you must add it first. if you want to see the incoming tokens you do not have to register them. if you want to get the coin from the air drops. then you have to wait until ico is finished first. Hope you can help.
