Title: Confused about upcoming Bitcoin fork
Post by: shan2026 on October 08, 2017, 09:47:01 PM
To get free Bitcoin "gold", one just need to keep Bitcoins in exchange? Like for exemple did Kraken.com last time give Bitcoin Cash to all those who had Bitcoins? Relatively new in this world so don't know what happened in last fork. Or one need to keep them in particular bitcoin wallet to get free gold?

Usually it´s the other way around. The way to guarantee you get the fork coins is by controlling the private keys in your own wallet. However some exchanges make early announcements about these forks. For instance bitfinex already took position about the Segwit2 fork. Not sure what the position is from the exchanges about BTC gold.

What people expect price of BTC Gold to be? Did price of bitcoin tank as soon as Cash was given as free last time? Or its better to buy more alt coins now that they are way down because people are moving to bitcoin.

You could have your own wallet in your own dedicated system/laptop.

You could leave it in a supported trading platform,
I think this is the best,
you ll not require to do things and it is just done,.... you can buy more with your coin right at that place or HODL.

I choose this one.

Just leave it with trading paltform that support new forking.
You can just trade it right away later.
You dont have to make new wallet and making a new chain.
It is easier

ONLY IF the exchange you are keeping your coins in promises to support the fork and also promises to credit your new coins to you after the fork if you keep coins there. not all exchanges do this so make sure you check it out.
for example i remember asking c-cex about BCH and they said they will not support it so i made a withdrawal.

nothing special really. BCH forked from bitcoin and created an altcoin. some people got their BCH tokens out and enjoyed the free money, some others are still holding it because they have hope and some never bothered to claim it.

the "particular wallet" you need to keep your coins to get any futuristic fork new coins will ALWAYS be a wallet that you are the only one who has access to the private keys.

its needed to make sure that the exchange will support the chain, bch before was been supported by most big exchange so everyone that hold btc from
the exchange enjoy the free money, I'm still reading things about this new coins and waiting for exchange to make their stand making sure that if free
btc gold will be distributed I can have mine.

You should secure your btc with the wallet who's have a privatekey like electrum so that you can get your bitcoin gold but if you are looking for the past hardfork happening you can visit some good article site like cointelegraph and other active sites related unto that today.

Hardfork is little bit far away to be happen and you still have some few days to prepare with it and remember bring or grab some BTC so that you can get that crypto when the fork is happening.

Any exchanger will give you official notice in this regard. I suggest you store Bitcoin in a big and famous exchanger like Bittrex and poloniex.
hopefully this happens like BCH and we get coins for free. ;D

Recently Bittrex give's the BCH to the people who have btc balance to their account but what I would suggest more is to store on the wallet who's been secured by private keys since this is more recommended by the people and speculator since this is the most safest thing we do before the hardfork comes.

You shouldn't really hold your bitcoins in a exchange in order to get bitcoingold, because you simply don't know if the exchange will accept the new coin or not. With bitcoin cash I think things went well for most users, but those that did not hold their private keys were at risk of net getting any coins for the fork. I think you should transfer your coins to a wallet, where you own your private keys. This way you know you will get the bgold for sure.

I don't think they have announced it yet. Maybe you should try to see on the bgold website, what exchanges already support them. Last time I checked, those two weren't there yet. Not saying they wont list it, but right now, we don't know if they will.

After 1/8 everyone hold Btc will receive Bch, and Bitcoin increase rapidly without being affected by Bch.
And now people keep the BTC until 25/10 to receive the BTG on 1/11 with a ratio of 1: 1. (To the present it can be seen that the BTC will be split up again and that has been confirmed by the leaders at Bitmain and F2Pool.)
Specifically: 1 BTC = 10 BTG
BTG = Bitcoin Gold Also known as Bitcoin GPU.
It is not strange that people sell Altcoins and keep Btc making Bitcoin rise constantly!

What the fk, there is a user who said that you are going to receive 10 btg per every bitcoin that you own, this is false mate, you are only going to receive the same convertion than before, 1;1, not more and not less.
And yes, if you keep them on a safe exchange you will probably receive the btg that you diserve, but maybe a few days later because exchanges need a lot of time to make the right distribution.
But if you hold them on your wallet you are going to receive them too.

be careful where you check! there are a lot of fake websites out there claiming to be bitcoin gold's website. i saw one the other day which was asking for ICO funds to be paid to a certain address!

the real one is called BTCGPU.org and they just made the website today. and it has no mention of exchanges to trade this.

it is funny how their website says "transparency" and yet there is no mention of the premine!

Nothing to get confused, stay active and have trust over bitcoin. The rest happens good as that happened during the past splitting of bitcoin cash from the main chain. Price dip has been speculated much, same as that things happened and suddenly the price began to pump and caused a price dip for bitcoin cash and lead bitcoin grow continuously.

if you scroll down pretty well now, they mentioned 3 exchanges so far supporting the forked chain (Yobit, bitbtc and bitstar). Apparently, they will keep updating as time goes on before the fork. At least they have information now unlike for some days that it has been pretty bleak. Let's see how things turn out. To me, it is just another BCC time!

Fortunately or unfortunately, it does not seems there is going to be any fork so bothering or getting confused about it should not be a subject of discussion because less than 10 days to the day of the fork, no solid information yet on how to go about it. If it turn out that more information is coming out, we will all see as the forum is somewhere to get it. Rather than bothering yourself about that, its better to start aggregating the bitcoin in a wallet that there is absolute control without any compromise.

It is upto your choice of keeping bitcoins in exchange or keeping them in hardware or desktop wallet. If you keep in exchange you can get the coins immediately or later but you have to do nothing. But it is risky also. If you keep in hardware or desktop wallet then you have to follow the steps to secure your bitcoins and then claim the Bitcoin Gold coins. So which one suits you that you can do it.

yes that is what you should do keeping your coins in your exchangers account to get free coins. During August splitting we see how most of the people that live their coins in exchangers sites get free coins I also got free coins from poloneix. Some also keep there bitcoin in some wallets and get free coins then.

It's all right if you leave your bitcoins to an exchanger as long as the exchanger has fully supported Bitcoin Gold. But if you are still worried then put this in Wallet that you control your private key. Like Coinomi Apps, Electrum wallet.

And even if they don’t give official notice, just ask which is why the support is there. If they give their stand before the fork, you can at least be a bit guaranteed something good if everything goes right. Like you said, so many exchangers did this in the past and it sure did make a lot of traders make quick decision on their forked chain.

Just make sure you are willing to give up the safety of your funds for the quick forked chain that you will be receiving though. So that implies more risk!

It is not yet conform that either this time they are going to give extra coins or not. but i think that there is no need to confuse about holding bitcoin. i am too much sure that everything will be in favour of bitcoin. After hardfork it is also expected that the price will again boost and this time hopefully will cover 7000$. So holding bitcoin during hardfork will be not risky but will be more profitable.

Its really confusing for the fork because price of bitcoin is very quick to get down. Its too wasteful for the lose coins in every bitcoiners need to get their salary badly because they need money for their needs. They really need to cashout because this only provides for their needs.lts a favor to the bitcoin holders because l believe after the fork it will easily get unto a higher price.l experience it last segwit that about l get my salary just 2mos before segwit the price became 10 times. So l beleive after this fork bitcoin will surprise bitcoiners for the coming up level of bitcoin.

It can also be stored in some wallets if you're feeling doubt, finding the right wallet in the moment wherein i can harvest some free coins too vefore fork, I rememver having bch before by just storing it on my wallet but tooks too lng to do the steps to acquired bch before.

Ask the support team of your favorite/usually used exchange wallet if they do support the upcoming Bitcoin Gold and segwit2 forking. If not then it is in your decision to go offline with private key so you can have those free coin/money.

But as me, until now there is no email/announcement that my wallet support made for this coming fork but because they made refund on bitcoin cash and pay us in bitcoin, I’m more confident they will do the same and I don’t want to be hard on myself in making other options than trusting them.

Firstly there will be such situation in future if such kind of situation arise then holding is the best option for the investor this will avoid the chances to the loss and also there will be pump after that a lot of people will do panic selling in that time and if one has enough revenue at that time then hold that for some long term that will also be effective for the investors.

I am also confused by this new hard fork. I am confused what may happen after that. I am thinking too much like what happened from the previous hard fork. I will be needing more time before making any decisions for this kind of serious issues.

But hoping for the better changes after this hard fork and hoping for the free coin to all of us.
