Title: It sucks being a Newbie
Post by: Sports Bettor on October 09, 2017, 05:04:02 PM
I've been posting on forums for over 15 years, but just found this one. Now I'm stuck as a newbie for 1 1/2 months, and I feel like I can't really participate.

Just some of the annoying things I've found so far:
 - I have to wait 360 seconds before posts and messages
 - I can't have a signature
 - I can't post pictures

I'm sure there are more... I'm surprised that this site actually keeps new members, because all the limitations suck.  >:(

And... that doesn't really affect your forum use by more than 10% I'd hope. You can't really be reliant on all the 'wonderful features' you're missing out on.

It used to be worse, with a newbie jail. Be glad that you don't have to deal with that (though it should really be implemented to curb spam/scams to the wall).
And you're only stuck as a newbie for 4 weeks, max. Think about how activity works.

If you're on the first day of an activity period when you register, 2 weeks later you'll be in your second and another 2 weeks later you'll be in your third. Hence, Jr. Member.

If you're on the last day of an activity period when you register, 1 day later you'll be in your second and 2 weeks later you'll be in your third. Hence, Jr. Member. In 2 weeks.

Newbie restrictions are there for a purpose. Unfortunately, as with anything your going to have to grind it out until you rank up. Once you have ranked up you will then be looking at less restrictions each time. I'm sure once you have reached member you won't find it so limiting.

Thanks for the replies. I'm sure spam could be a problem here...

Too bad there's no fast track to membership, but I guess that would defeat the purpose of having Newbies at all.

Yes it would, and the forum would be even more of a mess than it is, believe me.

Do more reading and less posting for now, and you'll be done with the noob restrictions in no time.  Your English is pretty good, which is a huge plus and the sole reason you're not getting flamed to death here.

I think you misread this because these restrictions make it much easier to communicate with people who have something valuable to say and make less spam.

1.Most of the forums have strict rules for new accounts. From my personal experience, bitcointalk is quite lenient compared to those.
2.360 seconds wait is to prevent spam generated from the newbie accounts. Most of the newbies tend to.
3.Why you want a signature ? lol
4.You can always use the imgur links.
4.Your rants are unnecessary, take a walk or something.

well.. the forum thinks you're a newbie, i guess it is like that so you would spend some time socializing with other newbies on the forum

PS: i also need to wait 360 seconds between posts, but that's ok, what's the hurry?

We all had to start somewhere. It is really for the better though seeing as it would get out of hand if they weren't in place.

Patience is key. You'll soon become junior and then everything will be much easier. For me the biggest setback was post times, i could only post once every 360 seconds which was very tenuous.

If you are a participating user in the forum, your activity level will grow, and with that, your ranking level also will grow! You need patience. Also, it is good to start as a newbie, so you can read more about what's being posted around, learn from it, learn also to make posts that benefit the forum overall, and before you know it, your ranking level is growing.

It is done by purpose! To avoid spamming of creating new account and spamming the thread. Just be patient and if you become at least jr member your restriction in posting in a thread would be lesser. Welcome to the best forum in the world :D

What's wrong with newbie rank. Limitations have purposes. That is all for the sake of our forum. Every rule and regulations will help to develop our forum, bitcoins and other related areas of digital currency.
In my opinion, a person that would consider that newbie sucks are those who already had a higher ranked account or may possibly banned and start over again. Because I think that newbie is the excitement part, it's the curiosity part that triggers you to learn more.
Or some may have some experience in bitcoin which is apart from a forum and already earning. They would consider newbie a waste of time.

Well. Today there are no easy way of earning. Skills and knowledge accompanied my time and patience is the key.  Not just by ranking but also by understanding and experiencing the great things that bitcoin can give.

Why do you care about the rank? I've been looking around in this forum for years now and never needed an account really but I decided to make one 2 months ago. Rank doesn't define you in any way, appreciate the information only because the rank... you know its like when you "achieve" something in a video game but in reality it doesn't give you anything.

I agree that rank can be misleading, some will post a number of dummy posts just to raise it quickly and in general forum only looses from it. One should search through a bunch of empty information looking for important things.

Newbie limitations are there for a good reason, I’m sure you can figure out why OP. You just need to have patience, keep being active & you’ll rank up in no time.

Everybody was a newbie once.

I can't that being newbie is suck.
Because i love how can i as a newbie explore this forum.
And learn new things .
How people earn coins in this forum .
But i agree that i can't join some signature campaign .
Just a little time to earn to be a jr.mem  someday

I know how you feel but the amount of spam on here is a joke. I don't think newbie's are completely responsible though, the amount of airdrops that have been happening recently has probably led to a large amount of bot accounts signing up trying to get free tokens and most of those airdrops are being done by accounts that are above Newbie rank.

yup! I agree, limitation has it's purpose and I think moderators had made such feats to prevent spamming, And users that are creating multiple account in joining bounty and getting Airdrops, I think this is to limit them from doing those things and I think this is not a bad Idea actually.

These are precautions that have to be taken to disencourage spamming from brand new accounts. If it wasn't for those precautions the forum would be filled even more with people spamming (which is already happening on quite a large scale). Use your frustration as a source of motivation to establish a nice quality account on here. You well get there. Just be consistent.

Welcome to Bitcoin talk! This is how it really works here. Everyone with high ranks in this forum experienced what you are experiencing now. But trust me, just be patient and wait till you rank up. Everything will be worth it and you can even earn a lot from signature campaign especially when you reach high ranks. Just be careful and follow the rules of the campaign managers to avoid having negative trusts.

Newbie here.. I post everyday. I don't mind if it takes time for me to level up my rank because I know it has a process
What important is I am learning everyday as I read all the posts.
Enjoy being a  newbie now. Learn and understand it, Persistent is also the key.

The 360s cooldown is to reduce the spam rate, especially from those newbies (We've been on the same boat before...)

If you really serious and passionate with Bitcointalk, I'm sure you won't matter to wait for the forum to discharge the "360s cooldown" limitation.

Anyway, good luck and make yourself a home here :)

Being newbie nowadays is hard in my opinion. Especially when mods are cleaning. No idea of anything and can't post any topics or ideas because he or she is still inexperienced. Well it won't hurt butting in with one post a day for a newbie. Just be careful and make sure you make sense. Good luck to all newbies. Everyone have been there before being successful here.

retsrictions are good to prevent someone creating tons of newbie accounts to spam the forum with shitposts.

i think the restrictions are great, but to wait 360 sec can be a long wait sometimes ;D

Yeah 360 seconds are too long to wait I experienced it too.
But we cannot do anything about it. Let's just follow the rules or quit. ;D

Get use to it mate. It is what it is. Newbies dont have much privilege since you are a newbie. You have to earn it. You have to make your rank higher in able to have privilege and have an access what higher ranks can. I've been through that and so as everybody. So stop whining. Build your rank and trust.  That's all it takes. You just to be patience. Ranking is the most time consuming. So if you lose patience. Then you are free to go. No one will stop you. 360 sec interval from posting and message is enabled to prevent flooding spam all ober the forum asking some stupid things.

That is a lot of time and experience in the forum world and you just found this forum by this month? If you known this forum by even just in its freshman year you may be a legendary rank by now. Don't hate and don't be sucked by being a newbie here because it serves some idea behind it and I love that idea for example if your newbie and do some PM's it will appear that it may be scam message and it also prevent some scamming the forum because of that time allotment to post or message again. If you will stay here and do some readings you'll learn and at the same time you'll have some earning.
