Title: Low hashrate Sapphire RX480 Nitro Plus
Post by: vladigg on October 10, 2017, 02:04:35 PM
Hello,
first I want to apologize for my English.

I have 2 video cards Sapphire RX 480 Nitro Plus OC 8GB Samsung Memory  (11260-07-20G).
The problem is that I can not get any results higher than 24-25Mh/s. I tried to improve the results but I was not successful:

- flash bios vdrop+.rom
- flash bios v4.rom
- flash bios stock bios modified by me with copied thiming from 1750 to 2000
- I tried with driver version 16.9.1
- I tried with driver version 16.9.2
- I tried with driver version 17.8.2
- I tried with last driver version 17.9.3
- I tried step by step manual from this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mwb67g4skGM&list=FLMBOMxQJ-S41kP8KvhCrGCw (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mwb67g4skGM&list=FLMBOMxQJ-S41kP8KvhCrGCw)
- I tried with Claymore 10 solo mining
- I tried with Nicehash 1.8.1.3 with and without dual mining

I'm using Windows 10 x64, for overclocking I use MSI Afterburner, but I can increase Core Clock max to 1180, Memory Clock max to 2085, if I increase more, it crashes. Core Voltage is -96mV

All my trying is unsuccessful!

Does anyone have any ideas?

Regards!

The solution will cost you about 12-15 Euros. Since you tried to modify the BIOS yourself and you weren't successful why not buy a modified BIOS for Sapphire Nitro+ RX 480 OC version with Samsung memory from Ebay. I have bought from them and they never failed to reach minimum 28 Mhash for this card, some even 29 Mhash. If you have lots of this card it is worth spending 15 Euros and getting a lot of Mhash plus compared to where you are now and also the guys at Ebay modify it so it consume even less energy ,at about 85-90 watt.

Don't buy modded bios from ebay... Sapphire RX 480 Nitro Plus OC 8GB cards can have 6-7 different bios version!
Rom files are not interchangeable . You can flash them to another nitro , but then your hashrate will drop to lower 20's or under or just going up and down , you might can not get the cards mem push over 2050-2075 stable .
You can brick your cards easy ...

To me sounds like you have a incorrect bios mod ,or flashed a modded bios with different bios version number ,  or you tried different tune software and you messed up your windows registry already ...

- make sure you have the original bios file saved with AtiFlash and the saved file size is 512kb , not 256kb
- restore all tune settings to default , before doing anything
- Mod your own original saved bios file ,if you know how ! and flash to your cards !
- Uninstall all drivers with DDU (https://www.wagnardsoft.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=879)
- Download and Install AMD Block Chain Driver from official AMD site (http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/Radeon-Software-Crimson-ReLive-Edition-Beta-for-Blockchain-Compute-Release-Notes.aspx)
- Run AMD/ATI Pixel Clock Patcher (https://www.monitortests.com/forum/Thread-AMD-ATI-Pixel-Clock-Patcher)
- Reboot Your Rig
- Dont overclock , underclock anything , start your mining software, your card should hashing around 26-28MH/s
- If you can not get that hashing speed , then you might flashed the bios with different version number than the original...
- If you can get around that hashing speed , then :
- Download , install MSI Afterburner 4.4.0 Beta 18 (http://www.guru3d.com/files-get/msi-afterburner-beta-download,32.html)
Overclock your mem's / underclock your GPU's , with proper undervolting , and enjoy mining with full speed ;)

screenshot from that video you posted :
If you downloaded the bios from the internet , make sure the original and the modded bios have a same version number !

You can easily mod the bios by yourself. Even with timings used in PBE 1.6 you can have probably the 28MH/s for free. You can use my guide https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1954245.0
RX 480/580 Hynix can do 32MH/s, maybe more, even the bad cards doing around 30MH/s.
Use blockchain drivers for ETH.

I use the GPU. When you upgrade BIOS this will be enough. You will need to install another driver. The default driver does not give the desired result. After I have updated my GPU reached the result 29 Mhash ETH + 830 Mhash Dcr mode double mining. If there is a desire write to the PM. I'll help you.

Thanks for helping everyone, the problem is that I bought the cards from another person who has changed both bioses (two positions of switch - silent, performance) and I do not have an original bios. Can I find it from somewhere for this card.

Try techpowerup site

but doublecheck

I think this is my card but how to be sure. It does not write the product number.

Try to load bios from that page into atiwinflash, and see if bios numbers match, as in picture from one of above posts
