The biggest exchange, if you're interested in day trading, is Mt. Gox: https://mtgox.com.

They've been tangled up in some legal trouble recently. A smaller, but currently safer, exchange is CampBX: https://campbx.com/main.php?r=2D63QDP2hvq

If you want to buy Bitcoins, but aren't specifically interested in day trading, you can also buy through BitInstant (https://www.bitinstant.com/) or Coinbase (https://coinbase.com/?r=51a5b0d3867ba8db8e00000c).

If you're not sure what you're looking for, I have an article that's aimed at getting started from scratch, starting with setting up a wallet: http://www.bit-buddy.com/bitcoin-wallet.html.

Depending on your location in the world some exchange might offer better options for money transfert, I suggest you look around the website, the most popular canadian exchange for example is cavirtex.com, if your looking to buy bitcoin directly and locally you could look into https://localbitcoins.com/ you can find local seller in your region which can be really useful.

I've been reading about cryptocurrency mining for a while now and it seems that for ppl like me that are just getting into the game you've got to spend a lot in order to get a decent mining rig/farm going or you've got to buy the coins.  The problem is where to buy them at though.  BTCe and MT are both loved/hated depending on who is replying to you.  I'd love to buy a few coins as well but finding a place to do so is a real pain in the backside.

It would be nice to have a place that lists and ranks the various exchanges for people so that we can view other peoples reviews and make up our minds accordingly.  Yes there is a margin of error because you have the company folks that try to boost their reviews and you've got the goobers that get their kicks out of posting lies and deceptions.  I'd love to be able to get the views of a few hundred folks that have used the service previously.  It would greatly help in making up your mind.
