Title: Newb trying to buy Altcoin
Post by: MCLXS411 on October 12, 2017, 12:18:35 AM
Hello everybody !    8)

This is my first post here, just joined.  I'm a fish generally but am looking to learn a lot more about crypto.

I only own BTC, but got interested in Altcoins recently. So, what sites are good for buying/trading random coins ?

The largest exchanges are Bittrex, Binance, Poloniex, Kraken, and some others. But in general it depends on which coin you want to trade. Some coins will only be available on specific exchanges.

Also, don't "trade random coins". Research coins very carefully and decide if they are worth buying or not. Buying random shit and trying to trade swings is a surefire way to lose money. Especially if you can't even figure out on your own how to trade to begin with. (This is meant as a friendly advice, make of it whatever you will.)

The exchanges I am currently using are Bittrex, Kraken and Gdax/coinbase. I like bittrex a lot because they have so many coins. This exchange is a must. Kraken has about 10-15 coins available and coinbase/gdax has only 3 coins(BTC, LTC and ETH).
Also there are smaller exchanges like Cryptopia and Novaexchange where you can get lesser known coins. I have used these exchanges without any problem as well. Binance is another exchange which has its own cryptocurrency BNB.
Hope this helps. ;D

Hello and Welcome to the crypto world.
Bittrex, Binance and Poloniex are the bigger exchanges that are popular. However it might not have the altcoins you would like to buy. You may want to check coinmarketcap for the list of exchanges where the altcoins are listed in.  Go to the altcoin page and click on market, you can see a list of exchanges you can buy the altcoins from.
