I just checked Bitfinex and its currently trading above $5000 now (currently $5100). Hope this is sustainable though. Expect a lot of press release later above this new milestone that has been reach.  ;D ;D ;D

Yep and it keeps on increasing still. Time to convert your btc into your own fiat money then a lot would be rich today. I never expected bitcoin to reach $5000 today, I was even expecting it to reach that amount by the end of this year and look at it now.

Yes, this is the second time bitcoin reached and sustained above 5k USD. Last time it reached 5k, and immediately JMP boss Jamie came out with the infamous statement of bitcoin being a scam and also China decided to ban ICO at the same time. That is the reason, bitcoin price dropped to 3200 USD level and took some time to recover. However, all is well that ends well. The market cap of bitcoin is now 84 billion USD and counting. We just need to keep the positive atmosphere alive.

No, this is the "proper" first time. The last time around, it only reached 4,900 levels, with just a handful of exchanges recording buys past 5k. In fact, in countries like Zim and South Korea, they often trade at much higher levels thanks to increased demand. To get a closer idea of what price is, gotta use stats from sites that factor in global averages from major exchanges (therefore averaging across volumes and not getting imbalanced averages from the odd expensive order).

Coindesk Bitcoin Price Index https://www.coindesk.com/price/ can be considered one attempt at industry standard. Right now, it is is at an all time high past $5100!

that's a great milestone for sure, i'm expecting all the casual holders to start to panic sell before the drop, use your brain folks and not your emotion. Personally i would HODL and wait for the next future.

This is very high. I checked the price a min ago, the price is $5200 but after that the price starts decreasing. Also this increase in price occurred just in 5 to 10 min. Hoping for its price to increase more. Just enjoying the price increase. ;D

It looks like the $5,000 level is a real psychological barrier that once crossed people just cut loose and started buying. I am watching with interest the whole market today.

Don't celebrate yet as always there will be market correction that will follow after this and this is something that will not last, I assume after the fork price of Bitcoin will go back to $4,000 USD. But, if it stays at $5,000 up that will be great. With 13 days to go till fork, $6,000-$7,000 USD is very possible. problem with this is those alt holders are the one suffering.

I agree. Don't just be too excited. Although the mental barrier has been broken, when the other side of the earth wokes up, we may see some price correction along the way. Although it feels good that we again touched and broke $5000. I'm sure that a lot of people are now focusing on the price. Will be it sustainable in the short or long run? Let's see how things will go in the next days.

Yep, we are actually nearing $5200 before but now we seem to be adjusting a little.

Right now we can see the floor being around $5100, the price could potentially correct to less than that but i don't think that it is likely, and even if it does happen then minimum would be around $5000 per coin in my opinion for this month.

This month we should see price steadily climb just like August. If the fork is successful, 10k wouldn't be impsosible.

Can you imagine if the stock markets start to fall, this could get crazy then.

A good sign that there are more pumps coming and we should hold our btc for now so that the pump will continuously come on bitcoins but I'm wondering on what would be the highest price would reach for these month since we are currently experiencing a good phase for bitcoins at these point. And I would buy some bits to get and hope I can contribute to these pump.

Hopefully the value of BTC maintains it's new height, and hopefully people dont start selling out their BTC just because it reached this milestone, or it can make BTC fluctuate and maybe bring it a bit down! Maybe after the forks, and if everything works out smoothly, we will see $6000 still this year!

This is the day users were expecting for a longer time. People expected the same to take place long back, but everything went out of hands making users get panic. Now slowly the price recovery had taken place from the lower point of $2900 and now it has crossed the barrier of $5000 and getting close to $5100. Maybe soon we can expect a price dump or bump.

Price is shooting too quickly. It has reached 5160. The rise form 4900 till now has being in no time. Finally it broke the 5k level and should make a rise of 100-200 $ in quick time so that it can compensate something as well all have being waiting from so long to rise above 5k mark.

However, all good things must come to an end. As said by n0ne, we should expect either a dump or a bump in Bitcoin's value. It has inflated too much over the past few months and I am starting to have doubts as to how much longer the price can increase at this rate.

Great news, 5147$ is current price at Bitstamp. For a while the price was moving back and forth around 4500$ and now has breached 5000$ barrier. Hope this will continue to rise but on the other hand I wouldn't be surprised if smaller dump happens and the price returns below 5000$.
But what follows now is total trill and ethusiasm with predictions of 10000$ even this year and if price starts to get down again we will, again, witness the panic selling. So, nothing new.

Yeah, all good things must come to an end, but can we just enjoy the moment now? Oct. 25 is still two far, so I guess we can encountered a few bumps along the way. But if you can just celebrate, watch the price today as I drink my favorite Starbucks coffee, it would make my day. Its certainly, reached new ATH now, the last time is never go above $5100 but now its trading way above even touch $5200 for a brief moment. Its truly amazing how bitcoin recovered from a slump last month to a new ATH today.

I was surprised today after seeing bitcoin prices at "bitcoin price coindesk" which is now reaching $5000 to $5100 even more. This is awesome.. :o well the highest bitcoin price history seems has recurred again, and maybe it could be higher again to $6000, we'll see

I was also very surprised. I do not see the price of bitcoin for 5 hours and it turns out bitcoin price has reached 5200 $. this is a new record and we should be able to take the speculation to sell the bitcoin we have or also buy the bitcoin that can be asset in the future. for me this is everybody's chance to be able to use it for the benefit. hopefully there is no negative news that can make the price of bitcoin corrected. personally I am very happy because there are some bitcoin in my wallet. this has reinforced that I can earn tremendous profits. bitcoin prices could also reach $ 5500 and could even go to $ 6000.

Today we have reached $5000 for the first time, even though people were thinking it happened not that long ago - it was only Asia who did it back then. It's great and all for statistical purposes to reach the $5000 level, but now the target has been reached it's time to focus on the bigger picture -> $10,000 and up. Let's see how long the market can maintain the $5000 level, I am not yet convinced that this first shot will be sufficient enough to last. Either way, it's good to see that the overall sentiment has got a decent boost due to reaching $5000 today. :) I am looking forward to see what news articles the traditional news sites are coming up with, always remains a surprise.

You'r right. I agree 5000 is a very important mark even psychologically. The next milestone is 10000, I wonder how long it will be before this mark

I really think it is too early to talk about the $10,000 mark value, we barely make it in this level cap and right now we have $5142.02 I think the nearest thing to target is the $6000 mark value if the price could make it to the $8000 I think that is the trigger to really make it in the 5 digit mark, but in the impending Hard Fork I am assuming that the price would surely dip a bit.

Ah finally. I was expecting this to happen a month ago but we all know what happened then, people seriously thought BTC was going to die. Past couple of days the price was making serious moves so I expected $5000 by end of the week, it was a little surprise to see it today.

I think you are right, it is good to be optimistic, but 10 000 is still a huge and high target, too early to talk about that price IMO.

Actually it was predictable. Moreover I am sure that the price of 5000 dollars is not the limit. Until October 25, the price will continue to rise. It is even possible we will see a price tag of $ 6500. The price correction can be expected in November. But the price will not fall below $ 5,000. Until the end of the year, the price will range from 5500 to 6000 dollars.

Yeah mate. You can see that Bitcoin is getting so polular nowadays and  the price of bitcoin is growing up and up and now 1 Bitcoin equals 5150.00 US Dollar. Soo the price of possibly gonna hit 10k within 5-6 months, i think.. so its good time to investment with bitcoin

A lot of thread are being created out of excitement with the recent price increase of bitcoin for getting to the $5,000 spot. And I'm waiting for those FUD people's statement about bitcoin, for sure they will think about something new in their mind like "Bitcoin is just a bubble" and will think that they have to keep on buying at the dip so they can be prepared for bitcoin's price before it enters $10,000.

I am not against 5000$+ bitcoin price but this price has risen in short time so i think there may be a small correction but we will surely hit 10000$ a bitcoin by end of the year.Panic sellers must be regretting now what they did when they hear China FUD in october.Too bad for them.They never learn  ::)

Incredible to see the price so high right now. I did not expect to see upwards of 5k just yet. I just hope it can hold.

It is great news for all holding bitcoin and will certainly bring about another wave of good publicity and investment, hopefully the price can maintain close to it is now after the upcoming fork.

I thought that bitcoin would reach this mark by the end of the month, but seeing that it costs 5000 dollars today, I was very happy. It's just an incredible price increase.

Makes me want to cry after having sold BTC at $3300. Anyway, the $5000 mark is indeed a great accomplishment, I am dumbfounded by seeing it. It's a psychological barrier which makes you consider selling, the thought of "How high can it go?" concerns you. At $4000 I also thought the same, have a look at it now, it's over $5000. I might sell some of my mining earnings at least. Wouldn't sell all of it now.

Imho, the problem of this price pump is as it happened in seconds/minutes. A well organized pump that makes BTC & Crypto overall looks bad regardless of its price tag.

No, it's not $ 5000, it's $ 52xx at the current time. Bitcoin is really a great coin. Its potential is infinite. That is why it has always been the king of the virtual money market.

Probably wont stay there for long when the hard fork comes they'll be skeptics but  now we have broken 5000 i believe we'll see a swift return to that figure after everything settles down

Everyone feels the same way. Many people have regretted it because they sell bitcoin when the price is in the 3000 $ range. look at the current price of bitcoin has reached 5300 $ and still have a chance to increase again. I also experienced the same thing, I regret selling bitcoin a few months ago. I regret not being a part of bitcoin users who can sell bitcoins above 5000 $. this is a miracle and can also be a way to reach the dreams of bitcoin users who still keep bitcoin in their wallet. they are free to sell at this time or wait until bitcoin prices increase again.

Actually, if things work out smoothly I foresee us hitting $6k or close to before the first fork or immediately after the first fork and this will apparently set a new record. I am quite optimistic though and I really wish it can keep up like this for now until another huge push. However, a new resistance level will surely kick in at some point and we will just keep watching as we HODL.

Right after the FUD effect fade, I feel that Bitcoin will reach $5000 again.  The news from China of opening exchanges for licensed operator, the upgrade implementing segwit2x and the fork.  That definitely signals bullish Bitcoin and hyper speculation due to buying bitcoin means extra coin on the minor chain.  Traders care only profit so they just want to get as many Bitcoin as possible before the fork.  It is a win win situation if he is to hold the main chain coin for a long time and sell the minor chain coin for profit.

I was explaining yesterday how I didn't see the price break through the $5000 mark in the short term, but I have been proven wrong with that, and that much sooner than I expected, but I am not afraid to admit that I was wrong.

In this case there are no losers, assuming that you are hodling some coins already. As we speak, there is a massive 1400BTC buy wall at $5188, which points at how much confidence that entity has in the current market.

I can't even imagine how it must feel to just have that amount just aside for trading purposes. I am happy that I can say that I have been holding my coins pretty firmly throughout the years, and will definitely continue to do so.

Yes it is obviously a great news for bitcoin holders. I think it keeps still increasing price. Though there is chance to down price for Bitcoin fork. Seems that it will be recovered very soon and Bitcoin will hit biggest price.

$5200! I'm shocked to see it since the last price before I sleep was around $4800. We might be heading to $6000 by 1st quarter next year. Can't wait for the upcoming months! I'm excited :D

It seems to me that, before October 25 when the expectations of the users of bitcoin get free coins will be very high and the price of bitcoin will be at the top look for fall. If you sell 1 bitcoin for 1-1,5 dollars more than it will cost after the fork. It will be more profitable than to keep it and get a few free coins the price of which will be at the level of a few cents.

That's true, we've all been there, I'm trying not to remember having sold even at $300. However, Bitcoin has received plenty of media coverage the last few months. It's becoming one of the best investment choices, chosen by influential people, even in Wall Street. All these news flocking have a positive effect on the price. I've started to believe that the best has yet to arrive for Bitcoin.

wveryday i always check the bitcoin price not to surprise my self but ofcourse to know my moves the lrice is really expensive now im holding for more since the segwit is not yet done bitcoin will continuously increasing and the demand and colume it self until its finish they saving it for another bonuses theyget.

We are still 12 days before bitcoin gold fork. Hmm, maybe 6000 to 7000 dollars is possible here. I am even tempted if I will dump more of my alts to add my btc stock.

What are you waiting for? Bitcoin is getting close to $6000 now and the altcoin market is bleeding profusely. Get in before its too late. The price is trading at an amazing $5700 now. Just matter of days of hitting $6000 and the Oct 25 is still far. I dumped already most of my altcoins and put it in bitcoin ecosystem. And I think I made the right decision yesterday. It was around $5100 when I did that thing, and from the current price, I already made some profits.

And for most of the altcoin traders here, I think this is a logically move, because instead of seeing your investment going down to the train, shifting to bitcoin will give you profit at least and can covered a few losses. So its really worth to give it a shot.

A new all time high! $6000 is not that far. When $5000 is breach yesterday the pricing went wildly fast maybe $7000 next year or by the end of the year? I'm too pumped up!

its gladly that we can reach from $5100 to $58xx (the highest price today) in just one day because yesterday the op said the price is $5100 and now the price is still increase. but I see the price having a little time for down price and we can hope to see the price will reach $6000 soon and maybe like others said, we can see it before the fork is coming. I see this time, there is a dump until $55xx and I am not sure how much it will be down but I think this is a good time to us for add more bitcoin to our wallet.

I don’t know about some exchanges, but universally, this would be the first time it would breach that 5k. The last was just very close at about $4975 and the whole FUD brought it down gushing huge blood only for us to find it recovering in few weeks time and now we are here even better than where we left it last time.

Sure, the community is increasing and the previous is getting stronger with hands, but we might still have a little dip as usual and that would be a better time to buy more most especially at this stage.

It is a normal thing for market. There is what is called resistance and it is usually like a blockage to progress ;D which once crossed brings a new ATH and the hope of looking up to the next break in resistance. Usually a little bit above that some people usually buy back and watch out for turn of events. The new resistance then starts when it gets to a point that people start feeling it is OK to sell and buy again once low.

I expect the price to keep on going up to more or less than $6500 this year. This is possibly one of the biggest price swing ever. Can't wait for it to reach $7000 by next year!

Almost all this current big value for sure is connected with China legalization at ICO and exchanges, wich could return the big interest at bitcoin, as well people preparing to the hard fork that is coming, wich no one wanna to loose the possible split that will happen. For sure once we finaly stop having the hard forks bitcoin will be able to follow and maybe readjust its value.

If the price continues ascending like this +$6000 could be seen in the next few days. My worries is the big whales, they can drop badly the price at any moment  ;)

Like you said, it would be a huge and swell day for the media and there is just this little feelings that in the next few days, the upcoming event on the value of bitcoin will be quite surprising. However, we just keep watching to see how things end up turning out.

Yes the price of bitcoin is reached 5800$ already. I think you get the answer for this thread. Now the price of bitcoin was stable at the price of 5600$+.You may close this thread. Till the October end the price of bitcoin will keep on increasing till the Segwit.

Absolutely amazed how this massive bull run that bitcoin, and it looks like it is still going. Although $6000 is still elusive, we should be there by Oct. 25. Yes, I got my answer and I'm been happy that its sustainable and I'm again proven wrong by bitcoin. And although we haven't seen a stable $6000, I glad what the current price movement and very satisfied. Correct, the closer we get to Oct. 25, the closer we can see the price going to $6000-$7000. And thanks for the advise, I will be closing this thread and probably open another when the price touch $6000 once more.
